- Ominous Events are a large yet (kinda) overlooked part of Minecraft 1.21. Are there more big changes on the way? today we take a closer look at the possibility of ominous events (like the ominous trial chamber) across the world of minecraft and just what they could look like.

what else should get an ominous event??
Probably bastions or end cities
A good one could be an end boss revamp, causing the dragon to respawn but stronger and more powers
The bosses (wither and endrr dragon)
Ancient city maybe readd the Sculk jaw and have it eat you up if you step on it or other sculk mobs that will chase you around to make more threats other than the warden, and you gotta do an ominous ancient city raid to open the portal

I like the idea of the ominous effect making a peaceful structure dangerous rather than making an already dangerous structure even more dangerous.
Turning the shipwreck or well or frozen peaks biome into a mini boss fight sounds fantastic, just like how the village becomes one during a raid
i think the main reason people didn’t want the iceologer was because it seemed like such a buff random threat in the relatively peaceful mountains. Ominous bottles could really bring it back
People wanted it, dream rigged it but honestly now i kinda like the glow squid, glow ink is useful

I don't know what the function would be, but given they're updating how illagers and raids and such work
This is the perfect time to give goat horns some meaning and functionality
the devs could make it so the goat horn scares the warden into crawling back into the ground but come back up after like five minutes as a way to be able to delay a warden fight

Imagine you drink an ominous bottle before respawning the ender dragon and it becomes an actual challenge
Ominous events could be added to pretty much any existing or new structure as long as they also add in more incentive to want to trigger them. Whether that happens to be adding more Ominous Vaults to those structures, having better loot tables for mobs killed during the ominous event, or unique items that can only be acquired during the ominous events, their success would all be dependent on whether Mojang can make it seem worthwhile.
As for where Ominous Events can take place, I like the idea of the Woodland Mansion, but I think Strongholds, Ancient Cities, Piglin Bastions, Nether Fortresses, and End Cities would all be prime candidates. I don’t hate the idea of potentially adding them to certain biomes for something like the Iceologer, but I think that I would still want to add a small structure (along the lines of a Ruined Portal or Desert Well) from a game design standpoint that signals the player that something potentially dangerous/cool could happen there.
Imagine havun ominous events in nether fortress or like the mansion 💀💀

It would finally give them a reason to add the wildfire/hovering inferno (yes I know it’s in dungeons but it’s still a cool mob)
Imagine getting railed by a wither skeleton in full enchanted and trimmed diamond
Well the wildfire was on that first mob vote it wouldn't be added to minecraft forever
I'm just happy there won't be anymore accidental raids in my base, I might just even change patrols to spawn again. That was just a pain in my opinion.
A couple ideas:
*The Ominous Mansion: *
- The player enters the Mansion with bad omen 1-5
- The higher the value, the higher the difficulty and Ominous Evokers (2 ominous evokers with level 1, and add another for each level)
- Ominous Mansions can only be completed once per mansion per player
- Ominous Evokers drop Ominous Totems of Undying
- The ominous totem is a better version of the current totem, and would allow the player to somehow survive a fall into the void, and give better potion effects for longer when used.
This would allow players to have an incredibly high-risk, high-reward scenario.
Another idea:
- going into an ancient city with the bad omen effect gives the player a ‘ancient omen’ effect.
- it lasts for 100 minutes
- if a player alerts a sculk shrieker whilst effected with ancient omen, it immediately spawns some kind of mini-boss mob (NOT the warden)
- when killed, this miniboss will drop something that the player can use to ignite the sculk portal.
This can be extended, if the player were to enter the ‘sculk dimension’ with the bad omen / darkness omen effects, the player would be inflicted with Ward Omen. If a player does a certain action whilst effected with ward omen, they spawn a new boss of some kind

I think an ominous event in the Ancient City would be cool/terrifying! Maybe drinking an ominous bottle activates the portal?
I've always thought the Ancient Portal was more of a one way gate leading into our world from wherever the skulk comes from. Maybe an ominous event would be some kind of invasion coming out of the Ancient Portal.

imagine drinking an ominous bottle opened the portal and started an invasion from the skulk realm into the city, with new enemies and a boss, effectively the old one’s army from terraria. i would prefer a new dimension, but that’s the most likely option otherwise
Maybe with the different levels of ominous potion, they could have different variants of the illagers like the ice illager. Maybe level one is the normal illagers. Level two could have maybe a zombie veriant or something. Level three could ve with the ice illagers. And Level four could finally add the illusion illager. Idk, what other illager veriants could there be?

It could use the Wind Caller pillager from Dungeons, or even any of the other interesting pillager varients from that game
Maybe you could drink the potion outside of the mansion and when you go in its swarmed with ghosts, haunted mansion baby! Only enchanted weapons can hurt them. Something different.
or even a new enchantment that allows you to hurt the ghosts
Idea: Ominous event in witch huts, using an ominous bottle near the structure will trigger an ambush event of a coven of witches coming at you, maybe some will use broomsticks to fly around, new spells used against you. The loot will be enahnced too, so potions that they usually dont drop from them will.
Ominous Bastion: Allows Piglin Brutes to spawn and make Piglins and Zombified Piglins aggro on you. Piglins will drop barter items when killed with this.
Ominous Fortress: Increased chances of Wither Skeletons spawns, they can spawn with bows as well (if you don't know, wither skeletons always shoot fire arrows when equipped with bows). Increased chance of head drop.
perhaps an ominous event in an Ancient City? there is already evidence of Illager activity down there. if, say, a single wave's worth of a raid spawned down there, attracting Wardens by tripping shriekers as they go... Evokers + darkness effect?
then, while Wardens and Ravagers duke it out, you can sneak swiftly around to loot chests or take out the shriekers.
Maybe if you approach a cave spider spawner it summons some kind of shelob. Eventually having bane of arthropods makes sense.
How about ominous event: inclement weather - the sky goes dark, thick rainy fog rolls in reducing render distance to 2, lightning strikes happen twice as often as during thunder, and in addition to normal mob spawns in the lowered light theres a chance that a new enemy type unique to this spawns, maybe like a breeze or some wraith-like thing that can fly. You could either challenge the storm and fight everything that comes at you or bunker up in your base and listen to the nasties outside, unable to sleep-cancel it like you can with thunder storms. The reward for surviving can be something like a 2 hour buff where you get regen and a speed boost. The wraiths would have a chance to drop something valuable like a trident, diamond, or possibly a blaze rod which could make it possible to get those without going to the nether.
I loves your idea about the ominous shipwreck event. Maybe the new mob that is added is a ghost pirate, as if the pirates perished with the ship and now you have revived them and a secret revenge.
If there was a ominous mansion event they could finally use it as a chance to add the illusionist to the game and have it spawn there

I think they could make silverfish and cave spiders spawners appear in the Mineshafts and raids of them in Ominous events as well giving enchanted mining tools as a reward. That would give Bane of arthropods a purpose and add more difficulty (and replayability) to the Mineshafts! (Srry for bad English, not my native language)

Outposts with the ominous effect have a rare chance to spawn a cage with the unused mob "killer bunny". Honestly though, this is like the perfect update to add the iceologer or illusioner as special spawns. Like outposts in certain biomes spawn these or even specific structures like igloos for iceologer and mansion for illusioner
Silly unlikely idea: bad omen + warden nearby + in ancient city = portal opening.
Ominous portal, activates the portal at the center of the ancient cities. Better be prepared to fight whatever monstrosity lies on the other side.
I think ominous event would be a really great occasion to implement the illusioner and re implement the killer bunny
On an unrelated note, imagine, for an end update, you could find alternate end crystals in end cities and create a kind of shrine to summon mini end bosses. Like how pocket edition had with the nether reactor, but make the shrine actually good like the structure needed around the conduit.
ominous depths: ancient city
if you have the ominous effect and lite the portal in the center, the ominous depths effect is applied
the portal in the center opens and sculk shrieker looking things spawn around the ancient city
you need to destroy out all the shrieker things as they spread sculk and spawn sculk mobs
also the portal spawns sculk mobs and wardens every now and then
It kinda fits, a mob that fights with illusions would work really well in the desert, a place where many have mirages. (Tho i still think they could maybe slightly expand the mansion and make it so the ominous effect respawns all enemies, and depending on the level, can spawn illusioners and iceologers too)
They should add a basement for the ominous bottle for villagers and you can fight different illagers from Minecraft dungeons

What if you drunk the ominous bottle in the ancient city, where a new kind of boss would appear, and when you beat it, it drops an item that activates the portal in the center??

I’ve always wanted there to be a mob that uses a mechanic similar to the fishing rod against you. I came up with an illager variant called the “plunderer” he’d be a pirate themed pillager with a peg leg that’d hook you in and punch you with his hook hand
The Outpost could do the expanding structure thing and spawn a basement underneath it when you drink the potion inside the building or enter the building with it on. Then inside the newly spawned basement dungeon there are evokers and the axe guys along with the constantly spawning other guys. Could have a trial chambers style spawner/spawned for the illagers and a new loot ominous vault.
I would like ominous events being hints towards a Halloween release of something cool. Like you have to do the events, and then you have something summoned into your ‘home base’ or area of most moved/placed blocks.
This is the best idea ever, haven't watched the vid yet, but imagine, you drink the bottle, and go to a igloo, and the iceologer shows up with a small gang

Pillager trial spawners hidden in the floor, so next time with the effect, it can be replayed

Instantly, all I could think was "ominous woodland mansion"! I'm thinking spawners and vaults would suddenly appear in EVERY room!! Also, I can't believe you we thinking "ocean" and all you came up with was "ominous wrecked"?!?!?!? OK, adding the bogged to it would be sweet as well as the ghosts, but what about "ominous ocean monument?" That has so many interesting ideas they could explore!!! 😊👍👍👍👍👍👍

It's a no brainer to add Wind Callers and other wind related items from minecraft dungeons now. They will fit in well with the breeze.
Sadly, I've been a bit behind on the amazing content Wattles whips us for us. Lately, I've been messing around on Bedrock Preview, and 2 days ago, I noticed that there is a day counter. I'm not sure when it was added, but it's definitely new and very awesome!

It would be cool if they had a pestilence kind of event, maybe biome specific. Totally random but it fits the vibe of the Illagers
I do think the mansion needs an update, since originally the entire point of going to mansion was to get a totem, but you can just get those from raids so there really isn’t a point to go there anymore, so giving it an update would be welcomed
What if the warden and all of the sculk stuff was leaked from an ominous end dimension?
The wrecked effect should come with the Monster of the Ocean Deep

Once consumed it reveals the portal in the Ancient City? Whatever level of the Bad Omen bottle consumed makes the dimension you enter that much more difficult/unique? Given that last April fools event I can only imagine. Seeing as the Illagers have been through the AC maybe they figured something out?

Ominous events are a super great thing for Minecraft because they’d add a new form of difficulty to Minecraft, while still making it optional for players who prefer to avoid the challenge

If 1.22 announces a new ominous event, the second Minecraft golden age might just be upon us. Having an ominous event appear in the second half of the update is also possible, though I feel like developing one for the first half will gather a lot more hype for future updates and give such an important feature plenty of time to flesh out.
I think small structures should not be affected by the ominous affect but big structures should be affected by ominous affect

This brings many opportunity’s to add past mob vote mobs, like the Wildfire, Barnacle, Iceologer, and other hostile mobs. Hope Mojang is considering these options 🙏
I have a good idea.
Ominous event deep ocean or ocean monument: spawns the sea monster that never made it to the game. If sea monster is killed it drops a heart of the sea or random loot.
The ominous shipwreck could spawn a new mob callled "the sunken" undead pillagers that drown and resemble pirates

Here is an Idea, the desert temple should have a vault and the only way to access it is by killing the boss which should be the illusionar and he can only be activated by using the ominious bottle, when he dies he drops the special key only for that vault.
The ominous shipwreck would change the weather to a thunderstorm and a drowned style raid with evil axolotls
I hope they make bannerhead pillagers more common, because as cool as this is, I rarely actually see them spawn, idk about anyone else
Regular vaults in the trial chambers give them to you pretty regularly. I'm slowly building a stash of trial keys and ominous potions, because they give you so many
i would say for the mansion the event could level up the mobs and make them harder(this is unlikely, but if you killed every enemy in the event it would spawn a new boss)
How about in an ancient city... it causes the portal to light, and a slew of mobs come through making for an epic battle. The portal closes immediately, so it can be re triggered when you drink the potion again. (assuming you survived the battle)... this is a combat update after all.
I think they'll add more overtime. Like with Trims or Banner Patterns.
They should add a basement to the woodlands mansion that is a trail chamber that they built the mansion ontop of

The 1.21.x idea is very possible. Not only did they do this with 1.20, but they also did something like that in 1.16 when they added the Piglin Brute. I mean, that wasn't much, but Mojang does add stuff after update release, so...

The replayability that ominous events could add to the game would honestly fix the biggest issue with Minecraft imo. Combine that with the vaults and vault keys that every player has a chance to get loot from i think the devs are really fixing the core issues with the game finally

If regular spawners gave more powerful mobs when the ominous effect was on, or maybe a higher spawn rate would be cool.

Personally, i think structures (except villages) in game should all get a trial spawner and a vault, maybe more for bigger structures (stronghold, and mansion).
What if, and hear me out, there is a chance the pilliger scouts drink the potion if you spend too long next to them, or don’t kill the flag bearer quick enough, thus causing an ominous even in the area?
Gives the ominous potion a canonical reason as well as a practical one.

Here's my idea:
If you drink the ominous bottle and spawn the wither, it's gonna be the bedrock edition wither which is much harder to defeat.
Imagine if every structure gets an omen-like effect, and all of these new effects would be required for How Did We Get Here.
I think ominous event would be really helpful by the pillager outpost. There's nothing really goes on there Like yes you can respawn those things When it only has one chest it would be nice to get at least something else
