Apple Music is for serious music lovers who know what they're into and are specific about what they want ; spotify is for casual listeners who are open to variety and possibly looking for other forms of media.
I recently began using Spotify, having been a loyal user of Apple Music for over seven years. One aspect that has been particularly challenging for me to adjust to is the sound quality. While Apple Music undoubtedly excels in this regard, and perhaps it’s because I’ve been using it for so long, its user interface appears to be more unified and intuitive. However, Spotify does have a certain charm that keeps me engaged. If there’s a feature that would persuade me to switch back to Apple Music, it would undoubtedly be its superior high-resolution sound. Great review sir much love from Nigeria 🇳🇬 🇳🇬
I also tried switching, but I just can’t. The deal breaker with Apple Music was that I couldn’t cast to other speakers, it doesn’t pick up where I left off on other devices, it doesn’t play video podcasts, and the song recommendations for playlists are straight trash.
Same. I was one step away from switching, I really, really liked Apple Music and Lossless Hi-Fi (do have a PC setup to take advantage of 24bit-96kHz sources). The lack of "Apple" playlists didn;t bother me THAT much, but not being able to easily cast to every and anything else... got just too tiresome.
What kind of speakers do you even have? Apple Music plays through Bluetooth, and as long as both your device and the speaker have Bluetooth, you won’t have any issues. In my experience, I only have the Apple ecosystem but none of my speakers are Apple branded. I have a LG soundbar (from like 6 years ago) and a Huawei small speaker (for like your desk or room, it’s 5 years old), and they all work perfectly fine with my devices (which are all 3 years old or more).
Apple Music recommendations are very good on my end, but that's probably because I've been using it for many years now. Their algorithm seems to be a slow learner lmao
It does have a music discovery I just go into the app, Home > Scroll down to Stations for you > there is a 'radio' for your current songs, and then there is Discovery Station
I've watched MANY videos of this sort comparing services and whatnot, and this is by far the most well produced one I've come across. I can tell you put a lot of time, effort, and thought into it. So, I just wanted to show appreciation for that. Thanks
Swapped from Spotify to Apple music a few months ago. Apple music needs work but Spotify kept increasing price and adding features I didn't want. I get apple music for next to nothing with my apple one subscription.
Spotify is for users who are not locked down to the Apple ecosystem. Or techies like myself that have multiple devices from different companies not named Apple. I want to give Apple Music another try, but with Apple Music I cannot: 1) Sync my music with my Phillips Hue smart lights. 2) Play and pause and change music from another device (non apple device). Even when I started it somewhere else. - With Spotify I can start listening on my Android phone, then open my macbook to work, and play/pause/control my Spotify session right from there seamlessly. Then open my iPhone and control it from there. Or start playing music while on my PS5, then pause the game to do something else but keep the Spotify playing and control that same Spotify session with Google Assistant, Alexa, or smart speakers from a different room. 3) Integrate with Google Home or Alexa, and other 3rd Party services. Slight audio quality differences isn't that noticeable. And I have pretty high quality earbuds and over the ear headphones. Most people not gonna notice much if they have typical airpods, sony's, or bose most popular consumer offerings.
I’ve currently got a three month trial of Apple Music and I appreciate the high resolution and surround sound on a lot of albums (the surround is great) but the lack of connectivity / necessity to use Airplay has made it a no from me on moving. I’ve just got a Wiim Ultra streamer that cannot use Airplay. Wish Spotify would get their finger out with their hifi promise.
I've been a Spotify user for many years (I've lost track of how long I've been using Spotify), I've tried Apple Music a few times but have always ended up staying with Spotify. I've enjoyed features such as; Spotify Connect, the social aspect, Daily mixes, and many others. I've also loved the presentation of Spotify Wrapped each year including now messages from the artists themselves (Apple has something similar but it's not as personalized as it is on Spotify). Given I've used Spotify for years, I'm still going to stick with Spotify as it integrates so well with my ecosystem at home and work (using Spotify Connect of course)
it’s not just messy, it’s downright sick for me. the app has a habit of suggesting NSFW/erotic story podcasts and audiobooks with equally shocking covers, all right there on the home page. i’ve never listened or searched for this type of podcast or audiobook (i don’t listen to pods or ABs full stop) and i don’t understand how this sort of thing can be surfaced on the app. i switched to apple music shortly after that incident and it’s been great. student price also includes Apple TV+, which is such a nice bonus 😊
As a Spotify users, I knew about events but I had no idea about courses actually being available. (I heard they announced it, but figured they forgot it like they seemed to have forgotten the high fi). And one thing that keeps me on Spotify is that it’s simply available everywhere. I can play it on my tv, my iPhone (I was originally a Galaxy user anyway), my laptop, etc. Don’t get me wrong, RUclips Music is great (never used Apple Music, so I can’t really testify on its behalf) but yeah… having podcast, music, and audiobooks in the same place also keeps me on Spotify since I have made extensive use of all three types of content Spotify has offered me. But it’s always good to see other apps are out there. Just in case the time ever comes when it might be better to move along.
I can't switch from Spotify. I love Spotify way to much honestly i find all the music i want. I can't leave it alone, call me freak i don't care I am upsest with the end of year wrapped videos. Apple music meh, its pointless it swap anyway.
The family plan depends where you are as well. Mine is in Bulgaria (because I’m from there) and its 8 euros for 6 people… basically 1.33 per month per person.

This might be a weird reason why I use apple music, but I personally like to switch between tracks using Siri on my Apple Watch. So when I'm working out for example, my phone is not anywhere near me and I just use hey siri or long press the digital crown to activate siri and switch tracks. This hasn't worked for me in Spotify using the watch but it does work on the iPhone so I guess it's really just use cases

Easy game...use android and remote control basically everything 😂. Scnr...but the truth is: this "restriction" to be able to solely remote control apple music from e.g. an apple watch is...as so often...an artificial restriction made by apple. Not talking about if this is positive or negative. It's just what it is. That's why I'm using a MacBook/Mac mini besides a Samsung phone & tablet and a Garmin watch with Google assistant
I recently switched to Apple Music because it was actually cheaper than Spotify (idk how) and I have the student plan and it’s only 5.99$ per month (Spotify is 6.30$ I think). I did the switch cuz they raised the price for all plans (I had duo) and it would have come to 20$ per month (10$ each) so I took a student plan instead to save some money :)
I have watched a lot of these videos but definitely none have been as well put together and well thought out as this one. Kudos man 👏 I have both services and my 2 cents is that Apple Music is way better if you have Apple products but also if you listening habits are well defined and specific. Apple Music is album focused, Spotify is playlist focused. Personally Apple Music is the app I listen to music properly with and Spotify is how I discover new artists, genres and songs.

Apple Music all the way. Just for the higher sound quality and Dolby Atmos.
Hear me out. Apple Music is the android of music apps. more for the power user with all the lossless stuff and probably better value in most cases but looked down upon because Spotify is perceived as the default music streaming service was so people stay with it for social FOMO when wrapped comes around.
@@vannski9441 you may not notice the better audio quality when using 50$ Bluetooth earbuds lol but it’s noticeable on any decent pair of headphones or home audio system. Ya but what does Apple Music offer? Lossless? Ok but I can adjust the EQ that’s built into Spotify and the bass that I can get out of my AirPods now is insane! Spotify also has podcasts built in! No need to download the Apple Podcasts app. When my data gets slowed down I can still listen to any song without the need to download for offline listening because Apple Music is horrible for that. I don’t need iTunes or a computer to download local files and there’s a lot of song that neither streaming service has on the app but with Spotify it’s so easy and all right on my phone. I’ve had Apple Music for a long time and the features Spotify has blows Apple Music away!
I prefer Apple Music since it easily allows me to listen to all 9,000 of my songs with a simple shuffle all button
Also you cant sync your Spotify music to an iPod classic like you can with Apple Music
i mean you can do the same with all your liked songs on spotify. I do that all the time.
@@Peter.Fields. true but over half of these songs can be synced to an iPod since a lot came from ripping cds

I don’t need iTunes or a computer to download local files and there’s a lot of song that neither streaming service has on the app but with Spotify it’s so easy and all right on my phone. I’ve had Apple Music for a long time and the features Spotify has blows Apple Music away!
Equalizer in spotify is better than AM equalizer
