Back when I started riding MTB out of the Cleveland area, this trail was one of my favorite to hit. My 2015 Diamondback Overdrive Sport 29er handled great out there! Now that I'm in NH/MA I have to get up to VT to ride trails as buff as these.

@@OhioMTBTrails Both. You have to suffer from Stockholm Syndrome in order to continue enjoy riding the chunk. Generally slower speed tech. My average speed dropped 3-4mph when I moved back East.

Great video! I’ve been looking at the Chisel for a while and this will be my first MTB. Now do I go base or splurge for the comp 🤔 I’m in RVA and looks very similar to my trails.

I've got the '21 base chisel. I'm happy with it, but it was $1600. The latest comp version is $2400. In my opinion, that's too much considering it has a budget fork and doesn't come with a dropper.

@theymademepickaname1248 I think the issue isn't necessarily what the bike comes with, but what the bike comes with for the money that you're paying. Because you're bike that was $1600 is better than the bike that I paid $2400 for because of good old covid inflation.

Thanks for the kind words! I do love my Chisel and wouldn't want to go any lower than what's on it, but for a first bike the base will still exceed your expectations.

@@OhioMTBTrails true. Btw I just rode that same trail for the first time last week. You handled the rocks much better than I did. Next time I'm in the area, I'm going to go there and session some of the tricky sections.
