Those cooldown restrictions make those cameras useless, even 15 seconds is too much. A lack of gapless recording makes things difficult when dealing with criminal activity. I have seen quite a few people end up with incomplete info. For example, someone had their outdoor wyze camera (one of those smaller units) record someone snooping around their car and trying the doors. The recording caught some of the activity of someone looking around the car, then damage was done during the cooldown period, where the side mirror on the driver side was damages where it is now loose on the side of the vehicle (shakes). The next clip was of the home owner checking on the vehicle as the car apart was sounding. If they catch the criminal, the video will not show the person hitting the side mirror, only them walking around the vehicle.
This means the criminal damage will be speculative and the criminal can easily state that they didn't damage the side mirror, and it would be hard to prove otherwise.
For home security always have a set of cameras that can record continuously, even if they are older or lower resolution, as that can fill in the gaps when things happen.
If relying on a cloud camera, then it needs a way to record a complete motion event without arbitrary time limits, and if not possible, then it needs a way to immediately start a new recording if motion continues when an arbitrary clip length limit is reached.

From all the cameras that I ever tried , wyze cameras are the best. Keep in mind using an SD card.

Lon, Being able to replace these batteries is a big plus. Interested in using in my garden because of deer activity. How Loud is the motion activated Siren in DB, loud enough to startle ? Why can't a customer setup their own cloud ? Thanks for the video and all the best.

I have 3 had 3 battery cam pros for about 7 months now. They all worked great for the first 3 months. Now im lucky if they record anything at all. Your milage may very. I live at a T so they should be going off multiple times a day. Sadly they miss so much.

Great to see a review for this. I had one a while ago and had SD card issues. Ordered another with a solar panel, should be here this week. Hopefully my experience goes well this time.

I found with mine I had to factory reset to get it to work with the SD card after the firmware was installed.

Go to the events tab at the bottom of the app to view events recorded to the sd card.

This cam pro works best with their plan , it has a great picture ( uses more battery) but you should use it with their solar panel ( and extra battery) enabling longer battery life . The older styles work better for free with a SD card and unlimited recording .

Lon, you need to test this with the Wyze Solar Panel. It lets you surveil during the day no problem.

Just got mine and somewhat irritated. When Wyze makes their claim for battery life that os with minimal live viewing and only recoding a few short motion clips per day. All my other cameras record 24\7 to an SD card and I wanted to do the same with this. It "can" record 24\7 but the battery only lasts 8-10 hours going from 100% to dead when doing so. Even the optional solar panel wont do the trick. It will keep the power at 100% during the day, but because it is dark for more than 8 hours, it dies then takes a long time to get enough power to turn back on the next day. I just ordered a new solar panel designed for trail cameras that I am going to try. This new solar panel has its own built in 8000mah battery built in that it charges during the day and discharges power to the camera as needed. My hope is that between the cameras built in battery and that of the solar panel itself, that the system will be able to sustain itself 24\7 with only solar power. We will see.
