  • Join the Forest Stewards Guild, NC Forest Service, and other practitioners for a virtual learning experience. This video discusses the basics of prescribed fire, and the tools needed for private forest landowners to burn their own land. In this video we answer frequently asked questions specifically about how fire in the mountains is ecologically beneficial.
    *Please note that the bird pictured is not a red-cockaded woodpecker, but a downy woodpecker. We apologize for the mistake and are thankful for the person who noticed!
    Special thanks to our videographer, Chris Allison Designs, for making our virtual outreach dreams come true!

    Prescribed burning is stupid as hell in the central and eastern U.S. and necessary as hell in the western states.

      Why is it stupid in central and eastern US?

    • @KieraCameron514
      @KieraCameron514 9 месяцев назад

      @@johannesswillery7855 Because the central and eastern U.S. are not prone to natural wildfires. Also, the types of ecosystems in those states are harmed by fires. Dry lightning is not a thing in the central and eastern states nor are volcanoes.

      @@KieraCameron514 A lot of people who develop and enhance wildlife habitat would disagree with you.

      Tell me you're clueless about Eastern US forest without telling me. You do realize that prescribed fires serve many more purposes than preventing wildfires?

      @@moorerealestateinc They really don't. Everywhere most so-called wildfires are artificial. In summer in central and eastern states, humidity at night is always 100%. The central and eastern states get little if any dry lightning. Instead, thunderstorms tend to be drenching.
