Passed my test first times and highly recommend these videos as well as “Get It “ the Irish driving test booklet sold in Easons only 48 pages in it and very informative.
I did my driving test about two hours ago and I passed! I have been watching your videos all day and since last month. You've been the best source of information and you have helped me so much. The three questions I was asked before the test was 1. When would you have to use dipped head lights? 2. Who has right of way at a crossroads of equal priority? 3. When can you stop in a yellow box? I was 100% sure I failed my test ten minutes through, but I kept going anyway. Thankfully I never have to go through that again. 😅

I've been using your videos there for the last while and I passed my test second time around today in Wicklow. It's a hard course with lots of hills but your advice about failure of the test being'' just another step in the process'' helped me stay calm and bring it home today.

Hi Dane, just wondering what your opinion is on this. I had my test today and I was going to the third exit on a roundabout. There was a queue of traffic in the roundabout going to the 3rd exit and I knew that if I went into the roundabout, I would be blocking the outside lane on the roundabout and would be stopping other cars from going on the roundabout. I didn’t go into the roundabout until the traffic had moved and there were no cars on the right. My tester gave me a grade 3 for this which devastated me as I only had 3 grade 2’s and would have passed. When I told this to my parents, they both agreed that they would have done the same thing as me because I would have been causing an obstruction on the roundabout. I was wondering what you think would be the correct way to handle this situation and should it be a grade 3 fault. Thanks
It sounds to me that you did exactly the correct thing, I would never ever instruct a learner to risk blocking the lane of a roundabout. Did the tester give you any extra information on how on earth he saw this as a grade 3 fault?
Thanks Dane for your answer! When I asked him about it, he said that it was a big progress fault, because I was stopping the cars behind me, waiting to enter the roundabout, from progressing too, even though I would be causing an obstruction to the rest of the cars on the roundabout. He also said that because I stopped he got the impression that I wasn’t a confident driver and that it seemed like I didn’t know how to handle the situation

Hey Dane.. I’ve passed my test yesterday in the first attempt itself. Your videos were brilliant help. Thanks a lot for posting such a wonderful content
Hi, Thanks for the videos really helpful. He asked. What if you are in no overtake zone(straight line). A slow-moving vehicle in front of you. What will you do in that situation. --- I said I will not overtake it... Then he said if you don't overtake. It will build up traffic behind you. He really caught me there :)
I was asked: How would you recognise a pedestrian crossing at night? What are three situations in which you would use your dipped headlights at night? Are you allowed to stop on a yellow box? What does a continuous white line in the centre of the road mean? What do double yellow lines at the side of the road mean? You are approaching traffic lights and the lights turn amber. What should you do? What is the speed limit on a motorway? There may well have been others that I don't remember. I will add them if they come to mind :-)
I have my test tomorrow, 2nd attempt, I haven't a hope of passing but your videos are very helpful. Maybe after a few decades I might pass on my 53rd attempt.
I have a question about hill starts, i know its not in this video. But i saw it in another one. Was just wondering if you get penalised for using the brake as well as hand break. Im not the strongest so sometimes my car can roll slightly with my hand break on, unless i use my two hands. I don't really want to do that in a test situation because it will add to my nerves, or should I?
You might want to take up some weight training or consider using a different car. If you must use the brake as well then I don't see any major problems
My test is next wednesday, the comments are quite re assuring. I will just dive in your videos. Dane which city are you. my daughter in need of automatic instructors

Hi Dane, how important are the theory questions, i.e how many marks do you get for giving incorrect answers?
It's important to get off to a good start and know the rules of the road, you can only lose 1 grade 2 mark for getting 3 or more wrong.

You’ve been a great help Dane, passed my driving test today and your videos have really helped me on the way thank you!!
That's very nice to hear, congratulations on passing and safe journeys 🙂
Dane I passed my test today, thank you so much for all your help! Love you!
Congratulations 👍👍
Hi, Thanks for the videos really helpful. He asked. What if you are in no overtake zone(straight line). A slow-moving vehicle in front of you. What will you do in that situation. --- I said I will not overtake it... Then he said if you don't overtake. It will build up traffic behind you. He really caught me there :)
Yes I know what you mean, practical driving wins out in this case.
I'm so sorry but when an Irish person says a word beginning with "th", I can't help but laugh.
Just like I do when a cockney does the same
I was asked:
How would you recognise a pedestrian crossing at night?
What are three situations in which you would use your dipped headlights at night?
Are you allowed to stop on a yellow box?
What does a continuous white line in the centre of the road mean?
What do double yellow lines at the side of the road mean?
You are approaching traffic lights and the lights turn amber. What should you do?
What is the speed limit on a motorway?
There may well have been others that I don't remember. I will add them if they come to mind :-)
Thank you for sharing your experience, good questions to be aware of.
Have the test in the morning 🤞🏽
Best of luck
Hi Dane,
Would you be required to list every single answer or are 1-3 examples of say the grip question or parking question sufficient?
Usually just 3 or 4 examples will be grand - depending on the tester.
I have my test tomorrow, 2nd attempt, I haven't a hope of passing but your videos are very helpful. Maybe after a few decades I might pass on my 53rd attempt.
Best wishes with the driving
I'm in Wexford, best wishes
Could you please help me.. how can i prepare my theory test and pass me driving test? I have been trying for last 2 years to prepare my theory test..
Practice and study, work at it. It's not going to magically happen just because you want it to. 2 years is a very long time to be preparing for a theory test so I'm not sure what on earth you have been doing.
Thanks so much I passed my test for the first time after 2 years waiting for my exam . Thanks for your videos !
My pleasure, well done on your success.
Hi Dane, thanks for all the hints! One question: the red triangle on the boot, is checked at the driving test by the instructor?
No

Hi Dane, if the red car wants to turn left and the yellow car wants to turn right, who has the right of way?
Who's doing more work?
Passed first time yesterday with no grade 2's. Your videos 100% contributed towards that. Thank you!
Thank you and congratulations 👍
Generally speaking, On average how long will they question you at the start of your test before entering the vehicle?. Very useful video, Dane. Thanks.
About 4 or 5 minutes, they'll ask about 4 or 5 questions and the same amount of signs, it won't be for long
@@DaneTygheletsdrive alright, that's grand thanks a million.
My pleasure
They asked me what unit of measurement is the oil in the car measured in, caught me out on it
Are you sure? That's bizarre. Never heard of that type of thing being asked.

Wonderful, congratulations on passing 👍
Can you recommend a good app I could down load for theroy test plz
A lot of them apps are littered with mistakes so I wouldn't trust a single one of them, just study the book or buy the CD for the computer.
I passed my driving test today and thanks for your efforts that you put forward. I really appreciate the way you are delivering the video lessons.
Your videos and the practical examples are the best I have come across with and I learned a lot from your videos and will continue to watch and learn.

I touched the kerb on my turn about slightly but tried not to panic and remembered your video were you said to just keep going and he only gave me a second grade for managing that well... will definitely donate you deserve every penny :)
And I was driving a different car for the first time during my test!!
Thank you for your support, and congratulations on a really great job, you showed good composure and got the desired result.
Im wondering what about in the junction you showed if the yellow car going right and the red also wants to go his right... Who has a right to go first?
Normally who gets there first and who starts turning first.
