First and foremost, congratulations to my friend Joe Jellison (a.k.a. Chatt Cats Fishing bit.ly/1X9qnzw) for having his third child just recently! The Jellison household will definitely be more lively in the future. I dedicate the beginning of this series to Cael! Yes, folks...this year, there are *two "trophy series"* I will be working on. One is the continuation of my *Carp series,* and the other one will be a *Flathead Catfish series.* Goals for 2018? Catch a 35lbs+ Flathead Catfish and a 40lbs+ Carp from my local waterways, without any help whatsoever. Wish me luck! This video IS sponsored by KastKing! And I hope you show them some love and support by checking out their products. Please realize that without their support here on the Channel, it would be hard for me to bring out one video every two days. Hope you all have been catching a lot! Next Catfish video will come out mid-March. Tight lines and FISH ON!
When is your birthday and where you located at? Send me an e-mail at sheng12182527@gmail.com. Can't make ANY promises! But send me an e-mail with "My Birthday" in the subject line and I will see what I can do.
I hadn't been fishing in 3 years and watching your videos inspired me to start fishing again , I caught my first trout in 3 years today. BEST FEELING EVER MAN! tasted great too. Thanks for that bro.
Make you some pvc pipe/rebar pole holders so you can lock those poles in place and keep the drag locked, you'll make the best of those circle hooks that way. What I find usually happens in rivers is that debris builds up on the line and gives it more resistance which allows the current to eventually move your rigs, setting off your bait runners.
I appreciate all the information! Thank you for sharing! In this particular video, I had plenty of "wood" and "trash" runs. Haha. I don't really show it, but I had to set the down drag thoroughly, according to the changes in current. For bites, I only had 6-7 the whole day. All smaller fish too. But man...fishing the river when trash is coming down is definitely not pleasant!
Another great video! Early season flats and even Chan's when getting short bites we down size our hooks and bait, and typically switch to a circle and tight line. Cold water cats can be a tricky one! Nice video Leo!!
Flathead here in Minnesota are mostly caught on live bait. The local guides tend to stay away from cut bait to eliminate or reduce "trash" and increase something natural to lethargic fish.
Interesting. Different fishing cultures in different states, I see. Here in Philadelphia, it depends on the circumstances. Personally, I like cut bait during the colder months and live bait when they are more aggressive. I also like to use oily cut bait when the river is raging, so the "scent" works better.
We can't use any game fish for bait here, but a live sucker minnow is the preferred choice. (Shhhh secret tip) Keep a sharp scissors with you and trim the tail off the bait, they'll wiggle like crazy (vibration) but will not be able to swim away from predators.
Another great video. It looks like your fishing upstream on the bridge. We always fished the downstream side right in the current break behind the bridge pillars. It seemed to work better than upstream. Thanks for your time and sharing. Always enjoyable.
Hi . I'm from Austin Texas like watching your videos . Your very funny I've learned to make my own stringers. as well as watching yours videos and where to fish. you make these videos worth watching my friend. thank you again keep up the good work .
The knowledge that share in your videos is great ! I’m for a part of Canada that does not have any catfish and it is cool to learn if I ever get the chance to fish for them the techniques required and the gear needed
Yes! I have fished in Maryland before. As a matter of fact, I have a Maryland playlist here on the Channel. And this year, I should be able to go there again for some more fishing.
Hey just wondering if you ever thought of using a bead on your slip sinker setup I do and it helps protect the knot and it seems to keep the sinker from binding up on the knot as well for a more sensitive setup.
We catch all our flatheads in the winter in deep holes jogging with giant cicada blades! Our biggest so far is 87lbs. They hole up!! Stack on top of each other.
I seem to always come back to Luke’s videos for knowledge. He said before he likes to keep the drag high as it self sets the circle hooks. I’m wondering if the bite run reel is a benefit or hinderance?
It all depends on the circumstances and species that you are targeting. With circle hooks, you set the drag tight when you know the fish is aggressive and ready to take the bait! That is when it hooks itself on the spot. But during the Winter months of the year, when certain Species of Catfish are sluggish, it is not a bad move to set the drag loose and let the fish run with the bait in its mouth for a while. Gives them more time to chug it down...
I am glad to hear that, Dan! This year, I will be focusing on catching a local trophy -- one of each. Hah. So, you will have plenty of fun watching the videos, I am sure.
since my wife and I started watching your channel , she has had a blast. I bought her the 1/64th gold jig heads and several colors of the 1" gulp minnows and we get super worms . she has been tearing up the blue gill and crappie like mad . we use the smaller blue gill for blue cat bait or cut it up for channel cat. thanks for all the advice. my pb's are 12lb channel, 17lb flatty, 21lb blue and 38.7 lb grass carp
I am glad to hear, islipin! You will have a blast this year, then. I will be focusing on catching a trophy Flathead Catfish from my local waterways this year.
I would love to film a Walleye video on the Schuylkill! But believe me...the local community would be quite pissed if I did it. So, I just don't mess with them too much.
you need to go try Delaware river in Yardley boat ramp i caught so big cat fish like 3 foot and nashaminy state park why aren't try the Delaware river .....
I really like your stuff, really great, thank you, need to come to Ga and get in some good fishing here, lots of fun, but sure seems you have no trouble finding the fish,
That's very cool to know! Yeah...up here, 50 degrees and things REALLY REALLY start to heat up. We got the Striped Bass migration. And then comes the Shad in April-May. LMB get more active and start to spawn in late Spring. Trout gets stocked in April. All the good stuff!
Great video! But those fish kicked your butt lol. I assume you’ll try and get revenge later in the season. I’m just patiently waiting for trout season. Class A wild browns are keeping me busy
Yeah...sometimes it is tough, but it is still worth to share the experience. Since this will be a series, I left all the technicalities in this video. The next ones will be way more focused on catching, unless I change the rigs and the conditions are different.
Next time it will be mid March. Water temp will be much higher, hopefully! If so, I should be able to provide you folks with a few fish here and there. :)
After experiencing a lot of difficulty last year i pledged not to really head out till mid March. This weather is insane out here. We have snow on the forecast for Wednesday. I wanna get out there and get some carp or catfish out if the Schuylkill.
Any bridge above the art museum will work fine. Though, of course, fishing the deeper holes depending on conditions will do you great! All bridges are usually great!
never a problem dude. I tried fishing with a bar of soap in my area worked like a charm got the idea from you but used Luke from catfish and carp tactics. it honestly was insane. learned much from you and Luke should really be me thanking you for teaching me how to get on huge fish. thanks a ton buddy.
It really depends on the range of Species that you want to catch, Blake. When it comes to rods, KastKing doesn't really have a rod that is suitable for bigger saltwater game fish! Thus, I would recommend a rod in the range of 9'0", MH to H. I use a Daiwa Coastal SP. And to pair it up, I would recommend either a Kodiak 4000+ or a Sharky III 4000+ (not the baitrunner). For smaller Species of fish, the Perigee II rod will do you just fine! Pair it up with a 2000-3000 reel and 8-12lbs test line and you gotta have a blast!
Extreme Philly Fishing Yessir.Heck yea i never caught one tho but im staying motivated.Heck yea my brotha i will looking out for them keep up the good videos 👍👍
It was a tough day on the water, Get Reel! Couple bites...all Channel Cats, I believe. Still too cold for the Flatheads! I'm not saying that it was impossible to catch one that day. But highly unlikely!
Extreme Philly Fishing also forgot to mention my reel comes with carbon drag which is about $11 an they are better than felt which most reels have even $100 ones
I appreciate the suggestion, Jermaine. I hear that it works great for the Channel Catfish _(Ictalurus punctatus),_ but for the Flathead Catfish, I prefer to stick with the cut bait that comes from the River, or Shad. :)
he always talks about vote in the poll but I can never find it. can someone tell me, please??? also can't wait to see some flatheads being pulled up out of philly. :D
Yeah! It has been about 3-4 years since I last had the Flathead fever. You know how it goes...usually I catch the species and leave it alone. Haha. But this year I plan on breaking my PB! We will see!
Extreme Philly Fishing good luck buddy. Plenty of 20lbers and some 30s in town. Word is for bigger you need to go upriver out of the city. You and other RUclipsrs is the reason I'm now after the creatures of the night
I would love to do international fishing trips; however, at this point, I can barely due national trips! It is all about the time and the money, you know? :(
First, I don't get the appeal of targetting flatheads. Here in Texas those are trash fish, otherwsie called "mud cats". Those get thrown on the bank to die if we catch them in our ponds. Channel and Blues are where it's at, 14" or less are delicious, 12" and meaty being ideal. Second, I wouldn't use a baitrunner for a catfish. Recipe for a gut hook since they like to swallow baits pretty quickly. Third, you need no-roll sinkers. Can get away with less weight and they tend to self hook much better. Last, consider doing a carolina rig with a small peg float added onto the leader. It will keep the bait just off the bottom for a more natural presentation. I get far better hook-ups with that. Just speaking from experience since my family has farmed catfish for about 40 years. But don't take this the wrong way, like your vids! You have a wonderful personality and enthusiasm for what you do that leaps from your videos!

Dont worry man, its march now. A few weeks from now it will warm up and you'll be catching fish left and right again.

Right on, Beast Man! Can't wait!!!

U better still be fishing

got skunked on my last catfish outing but my friend caught one the other day i am right across the bridge
Nice! I am glad to hear. And hopefully you will catch some soon as well, mastersunfish!
First carp session of the year today. Water temp way too cold.
Yeah...still quite cold for most fishing around here. :(
Another great video. It looks like your fishing upstream on the bridge. We always fished the downstream side right in the current break behind the bridge pillars. It seemed to work better than upstream. Thanks for your time and sharing. Always enjoyable.
Hi . I'm from Austin Texas like watching your videos . Your very funny I've learned to make my own stringers. as well as watching yours videos and where to fish. you make these videos worth watching my friend. thank you again keep up the good work .
are you going to continue your quest for the 40 lb carp? i really want to see more of that series
Yes! See the pinned comment for more details.

Leo, do you ever fish in maryland? Only an hour away and great fishing.
Yes! I have fished in Maryland before. As a matter of fact, I have a Maryland playlist here on the Channel. And this year, I should be able to go there again for some more fishing.
Extreme Philly Fishing awesome. Thankyou for letting me know about the Maryland playlist.
STILL waiting on the " Take it eeeeeeasy" T shirts
Haha. Who knows, garrison. It may come one day. :)
Hey just wondering if you ever thought of using a bead on your slip sinker setup I do and it helps protect the knot and it seems to keep the sinker from binding up on the knot as well for a more sensitive setup.
Hey leo how do you check water temps? Do you just carry a thermometer with and just dip it in the water
Precisely! I have a thermometer with me at all times. And I just drop it somewhere (deep as possible) and check.
We catch all our flatheads in the winter in deep holes jogging with giant cicada blades! Our biggest so far is 87lbs. They hole up!! Stack on top of each other.

Today me and grandpa actauly caught a few channel catfish, some striped bass, and a bluegill. Fishing again tommorrow
I am glad to hear that you folks are catching! Keep on slaying them!
RUclips trippin... 7628 likes and 500 views haha
Love catfishing, I can only use two rod in Ohio😐. Can't wait for spring/summer night. Tight line until next time
I hear ya. Most states is two. We are blessed with 3. Heh. Tight lines to you as well!
You need to come to lake ontellaunee in berks country for bass and catfish. I fish there quite often and usually have good luck.
I wish we had flatheads here in Colorado!
It is definitely a fun Species of fish to catch! But I bet you got some cool stuff in Colorado that we don't have here. Heh.
Great videov as always!
Glad that you enjoyed it!
Channels will be much more active. Flats are in their wintering holes and are very inactive until the water warms up.
Yo that’s my boy Leo in the house!!! LETS GET IT!!! You da man bro!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for stopping by, my man! I appreciate it!!! HOOKEM IN THE MOUTHHHHH!

Its that time of year to catch some Walleye in the river.
Oh yeah? I heard that there are a few Flatheads in the Delaware River, but that they are actually quite hard to catch!
It's not always about catching fish but getting out good luck on that 40lb carp I definitely want to see that that will be an incredible catch
Let's hope it happens this year, Mark! I got a few places I have in mind already for the chumming. Should be good!
Extreme Philly Fishing heck yeah I'll be watching for it
Mark Withers that is the size carp i'm going to try and get too my pb right now is 20lb
thelowengames right on 20lb is a giant 40lb would be epic good luck I hope you will achieve that
I really like your stuff, really great, thank you, need to come to Ga and get in some good fishing here, lots of fun, but sure seems you have no trouble finding the fish,
Make a video fishing Stoney Creek in Norristown
I appreciate the suggestion. I have been there before. There may be ONE VIDEO on the Channel on Stoney Creek! Look it up!
Just bought 2 of the Pontus reels. I can't wait to try them here in York PA area
Interesting to here up there 50 is the magic temp here in south alabama 62 is the magic water temp for a lot of species
That's very cool to know! Yeah...up here, 50 degrees and things REALLY REALLY start to heat up. We got the Striped Bass migration. And then comes the Shad in April-May. LMB get more active and start to spawn in late Spring. Trout gets stocked in April. All the good stuff!

For sure, Jeremy! This is just the beginning of this series. Heh. Good luck with the Trout!
Just started following watched for a bit and like your vids.. Hope to get in some of the contests.. Tight lines!
Still enjoyed the video, there's a reason it's called fishing and not catching.
Yeah...sometimes it is tough, but it is still worth to share the experience. Since this will be a series, I left all the technicalities in this video. The next ones will be way more focused on catching, unless I change the rigs and the conditions are different.
Sweet new vid ive been kind of binging your vids today
Good stuff, Jacob! :)
That tree in the intro made me think my phone was cracked good job Leo keep up the good work
Heh. Thanks, Eric! I appreciate it!
Awesome fishing video
Keep up the hard work bro
Hopefully next time u will get those flathead catfish
Next time it will be mid March. Water temp will be much higher, hopefully! If so, I should be able to provide you folks with a few fish here and there. :)
Thank you for the shout out
After experiencing a lot of difficulty last year i pledged not to really head out till mid March. This weather is insane out here. We have snow on the forecast for Wednesday. I wanna get out there and get some carp or catfish out if the Schuylkill.
Was Waiting on this all day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad to hear, brother. Hope you enjoy it!
Awful bite in seattle too! We had a cold February and the fishing is awful. Hopefully March is better.
Lee I know it’s under the bridge but how far it from art museum?
Any bridge above the art museum will work fine. Though, of course, fishing the deeper holes depending on conditions will do you great! All bridges are usually great!
Extreme Philly Fishing thank you Lee
what's up Leo! great videos buddy
Thank you! I appreciate it!
never a problem dude. I tried fishing with a bar of soap in my area worked like a charm got the idea from you but used Luke from catfish and carp tactics. it honestly was insane. learned much from you and Luke should really be me thanking you for teaching me how to get on huge fish. thanks a ton buddy.
Leo what kastking setup do you recommend for multi species in salt water used my abla Garcia the other day and it didn't like it at all
It really depends on the range of Species that you want to catch, Blake.
Extreme Philly Fishing thanks for the information brother
Nice 💪🔥 video😃 you've fished on Valley Forge squeek River trail. I live there and I want to see a spot to fish😁
Heck yea bro thats pretty awesome your fishing for flatheads there my favorite fish
Oh yeah? That's great, man! This year, I will focus a little bit more on them. So you will have some videos popping here and there. :)
Extreme Philly Fishing Yessir.Heck yea i never caught one tho but im staying motivated.Heck yea my brotha i will looking out for them keep up the good videos 👍👍
Dude love your vids... What is your accent? It almost sounds Italian
Thank you! I am glad that you enjoyed it. I am an Asian-Brazilian. Thus, you can say that my accent comes from Portuguese + Chinese.
Great video 🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣
Whoa whoa whoa whoa son whoa son whoa son son son!!!!
Lmao Leo you crack me up bro!!!!
Charles is awesome!
All fishing, no catching. I’m surprised a Skunk didn’t magically appear... Mephitidae Mephitis.
It was a tough day on the water, Get Reel! Couple bites...all Channel Cats, I believe. Still too cold for the Flatheads! I'm not saying that it was impossible to catch one that day. But highly unlikely!
Leo. Really like your videos and enthusiasm for fishing.
It‘s 4 in the morning and i‘m looking this asian fishing guy...again 🤣😂😎👍🏻
Good job, Topse! Good job. Lol.
Are kastking reels any good?
Steve Blazethat I have the mela 2 2000 an caught 1000+ fish on it last year still going smooth an plan to use it a lot this year.
Yes! I highly recommend them. My favorite is the Sharky II, but now they got a Sharky III, which is even better! You should definitely give it a try!
Extreme Philly Fishing also forgot to mention my reel comes with carbon drag which is about $11 an they are better than felt which most reels have even $100 ones
Do you fish with your fans? I fish the Schuylkill a lot, we should hook up.
Nice video buddy...you will get that 30+ this year I no it buddy :)
I like the positivity! Let's hope so!!!
When fishing for flathead live bait is always best
Lol I love your intro
Hahaa. Glad to hear!
Love you vids btw
Glad to hear that you enjoy the contents here on the Channel!
Thanks for posting a skunk video that's real struggle bro🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏!!!
Well it is winter so u can expect to get skinked!
Try using cut up blue fish
I appreciate the suggestion, Jermaine. I hear that it works great for the Channel Catfish _(Ictalurus punctatus),_ but for the Flathead Catfish, I prefer to stick with the cut bait that comes from the River, or Shad. :)
Where is this?
Live bullheads Leo! Flathead candy!
he always talks about vote in the poll but I can never find it. can someone tell me, please??? also can't wait to see some flatheads being pulled up out of philly. :D
Love dis guy leo hes awesome
cool video
Try using chopped eel sometime.
About time dude! You're an amazing angler but you need to spend a little more time chasing the baddest fish in town
Make sure to like the video Guys ! That`s a great one Leo
I am glad that you enjoyed it, Mrdejet!
You need some smaller hooks and smaller pieces leo. Missing out on the 4 and 5 lb'ers my boy. Keep up the grinding though!! And TAKE IT EEEEAAASYYY
Use chicken liver for your bait catfish love it speaking from my experience
Good
WHATS UPP BRO.... You also had a voice crack
need a bead on there bud stops the weight from hitting knot
You are right! I have beads at home. Forgot to bring them that day! Thanks for sharing!
May I suggest a sinker slides also in order to reduce line abrasion and allow for quick change of sinkers.
hey Leol i have an
idea y dont try fishing other countrys like philippines
