Cork is old fashion, hard, slippery when wet and it gets dirty easily. I haven't bought a cork handle rod since my G.Loomis Mag Bass GL3 which was close to 20 years ago. G.Loomis has refused to change with the times which was also why I stopped buying their rods. Just look at Gary Loomis, after he left G.Loomis and when he was able to beat cancer, did you see him using cork for his Edge Rods? Nope. Or if you look at Daiwa's top of the range rods such as Morethan and Steez, it is all EVA. The EVA split grip trend was initially started by the Japanese JDM rods, they just look premium and ergonomically very comfortable to fish with. EVA is softer, therefore much easier on your hands when you fish long hours and it is definitely not slippery. You can fish with it even during a tropical downpour and it still won't be slippery.
@@Rascallucci If you think cork gets dirty easily, EVA is even worse. After several uses, you'll see wear and tear and it starts discoloring where your hand is holding. It's just a nasty look. Between cork and EVA, i prefer cork BUT, you are correct in that it is old fasion. I don't think it belongs on this caliber. I prefer the Poison Adrena handle. It's very modern, grippy even when wet and extremely sensitive. Only problem is, it scratches extremely easy. Can't win..always a but ..

I just wish they had used EVA instead of cork for the handle, as such the Poison Ultima is off my radar I am afraid.
On the contrary, I think the cork is expensive and a nice material
