The FUEHRER'S HEADQUARTERS emerges - A stroll across Hitlers Obersalzberg - Documentary

  • After Hitler converted Haus Wachenfeld into the Berghof and stayed on the Obersalzberg whenever government business permitted, it was hardly surprising that the closest leadership staff settled there too.
In the years 1937 - 1938 the Obersalzberg had to undergo the most radical changes, because in only a few months Reich leader Martin Borman transformed the former high altitude health resort known as the Obersalzberg into a restricted area, which in the following years was also declared the Führer headquarters.
This documentary will show for the first time, on the basis of previously unpublished film footage, both the extensive construction work of Bormann's most important projects on the Obersalzberg, as well as landscape shots of the Obersalzberg and the surrounding mountains. Unique aerial shots of the "Führersperrgebiet" (the restricted area for the Fuehrer) impressively convey the gigantic scale of the transformation of a mountain under the swastika.

This is invaluable historic information and film footage. I just can't watch any of it without the constant thought of the incredible absurdity of it all-- the amazingly productive engineering and efficiency of the German builders creating vast projects all the while the destructive plans were also very efficiently ensuring the devastation of not only this great mountain project but all of Germany and most of Europe. And all the lives sacrificed - the hell of it all!

If you are interested enough to visit the area yourself it will be worth your while, with a little homework make a list of the places to visit and you can do it.

The Bavarian Government would be rolling in cash if they'd preserved this and opened it as an historical 'heritage' site like the Poles did with Auschwitz.

One is vile and evil and should not be glorified, while the other is a memorial to those millions murdered by the Nazis. Auschwitz was created by an evil regime that justified the extermination of millions of people, that is why it is preserved as a warning to future generations of mans inhumanity to man and to never let it happen again. As most of the Nazi buildings had been heavily damaged by aerial bombing and retreating SS troops in 1945, then stripped by the local population of everything of value, not much remained. With the crimes of the Nazis still fresh in the minds of many, the newly appointed government made it their goal to remove everything closely associated with Hitler and other high ranking Nazis, and to discourage neo Nazi groups from using those ruins as a place of pilgrimage.

you might employ a narrator who can at least pronounce German, if not understand the language. It's not "Goring" .. his name is GÖring ... then, not "ober SALS berg" .. the mountain is called Ober..satZ..berg ... Hitler's crush is not named "Brown" ... she is born BRAUN ... employ a university student who knows the German language ... or check GOOGLE as to how to pronounce SALZ or BRAUN .. or GÖRING ...
