I'm a huge fan of Vice Ganda and I really do believe that they are changing how Filipinos perceive the LGBTQIA community but I am noticing that a lot the content coming out of this channel is glorifying a consumerist society. Going to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, just to buy French brands seems crazy to me. It creates unrealistic expectations for others, cultivating the erroneous idea that our loved ones need us to buy them things to validate our love for them.
Thank you Vice for showing the world that gays can be so much more than just a shameless punchline to laugh at, you are truly a beacon of light for our community. We are also much more than lovers of Louis Vuitton and Lacoste, the truth is that most of us can't even afford these brands. The world is hurting and you are one of the few who can help heal it. It's a lot of pressure but you are strong.
