YESS I was hoping you had a video for this! Logic shld send your videos as instructions for all their plug ins lol!!! Videos may be long but cover everything like a manual, which is also long lol! Thanks!
AS ALWAYS...Just what the doctor ordered. Clear & concise. Plus I got some fun ideas for a drum track I'm working on! But you're right about its limited functionality. I'll probably use a different plug-in on vocal tracks. Great job!
Thanks so much for this amazing, amazing series of Logic Pro X tutorials. The package is enormous and your information is so helpful! It has saved us hours of hard slog. Cheers Mate from Glenn & Dave.
Such a coincidence how i came across the Vocoder for the first time today on LPX, and you just made a very informal video about it not to long ago!! Awesome!
I found that I could get much better results for clarity of words by simply recording my speaking voice and bothering to enunciate everything clearly - your singer was focused more on singing melody and expression than clarity of enunciation of the actual words and that seems to hurt the presentation. That "Clear Voice Vocoder" setting is really quite clear. It is a shame that you can't use a separate audio track to effect with speech as some 3rd party plug-ins enable you to do. Thanks for covering this, I didn't know it was even there!
I used to make my own analog vocoder by ground looping a distortion pedal with a Shure mic in line ... I am wanting to learn to use my Logic X more with synthesis and midi controller... Good job on explaining it all... Just what I needed a "MusicTechHelpGuy" ... So thanks... I subscribed and liked and will play more of your tutorials in the future... ☮🔥
You should write in the video description the topic of the next video (just the topic not the release date) that way you wont get asked "when is the mixing and mastering tutorial going to be released" Love your videos!
What’s up people! We are Double Lyrical, an upcoming rap duo. We upload a new song every Sunday. We would appreciate it if you’d check us out and leave some feedback!
The presets are still missing. I don't know what to do. It always says "manual" instead of "factory default" and I can't select any presets. I already reinstalled all sounds and re-checked them at the sound-library-manager. Please help me
Need ur help~~ I don't have any preset and I already checked my sound library that I did install all of the available things >< And also I follow all of ur instruction!! Appreciate!!
This made my music production MUCH better! Thnx dude! If you got any tips. Is there any other synth's that can do this to? Like when i go on my PC Win7 i have FL studio.
hi,your vids are excellent and I find them very useful. There is a sample in LPX apple loops called Building Blocks Synth. There is a bass line and a recurring synth chord which closes out every time i think with some kind of filter effect - a bit like a closing hi hat on a plucky synth - a sound i just think is fantastic, but for the life of me cannot work out how it is done. If you get a chance can you cast your expert ear over this. Thanks Andy
Any possibility of using this plug-in and previous plug-ins like ES2 in live automation mode while recording. I find a limitation in building up the arquitecture of the sound as a customised preset when maybe I can experiment while playing/recording live.
Hey man, I’ve watched a couple of ur videos and man... *U - ARE - AWESOME* But I have 1 question, how long did it take to know all of this? Btw, I wish u a superb and long music career😏👍... u deserve it
Thanks for that great video, one more time. I m looking for a vocoder plug-in that could use an audio track as a carrier and an other audio track instead of the synth of the evoc. For example, a voice as a carrier with the sound of a guitar. Any idea of a great plug-in that can do that ?
Yes, the EVOC20 can actually do this, but you have to use it in a different mode. > Create 2 Audio tracks (one with your vocal, one with your guitar) > Apply the EVOC 20 Track oscillator plugin to either of your Audio Tracks (Audio FX > Filter ) > Set the sidechain of the plugin to the other audio track in the sidechain box in the top right > Over on the left set the Analysis in and Synthesis in to Sidechain or Track depending on which way round you want it. > Press Play (make sure your guitar and vocal audio is lined up so they play at the same time !) > Play with settings until you get what you like Hope that helps.
As for the drum loop: Is this in key then? Because sometimes when you load up a sample and play the C on your keyboard it's actually not the C but another note, and you can pitch it up following the octaves. How do you know when this is the case?
Is the vocoder meant to silence everything else? When I use a sidechain input from the track or a buss the midi notes on the vocoder play but silence all other tracks. How do I blend it with the whole mix?
You should be able to do both. As long as the vocoder is in VOC mode, and you haven't muted your side chain tracks, you should hear both when playing back and be able to blend them.
I'm having trouble with this i have a vocal track and piano track but when i do the other software instrument it appears as a rhodes piano not the blank music note thing in the video
I have the same presets but the vocoder doesn't recognize the audio track. I have have the audio and the synth at the same time! How can I fix this problem?
I'm loving the tutorial but I am having a huge problem. I have Logic open while watching... My EVOC20 window looks nearly exactly like yours, except in the top right corner of the EVOC20 window in YOUR video, there's a pulldown menu called "sedition." Mine doesn't exist for some reason. I have the view pulldown and mine, like yours, is set to 200% but there is no "sidechain" there. Did I miss a step? Everything else looks just like yours.
Guitarburt Aha ... Called 1 800 MY APPLE and got hooked up with a LOGIC expert. All I have to do is go under the preferences menu and click on a box that said, "Show advanced features." I'll be getting busy with my vocoder soon!
Hi All, I have a very simple question : I follwo up all the steps but I do not have side chain menu on the top bar... Dont know why ? Somebody can help on this before I go crazy ! Tx all
No. What you want in that case, is whats known as a talk box. Its a synth connected to a small speaker, enclosed in a air tight enclosure, then the air is forced into a tube that you place into your mouth. When you play a note, air and sound will come out of the tube and you move your mouth (without making sound) which will shape the synth into the words you pretend to say/sing. There are many easy tutorials here on the tube, to achieve this. Hope this help. :)
Sorry, obviously you already knew what a talk box is. The problem with this fx is its using your vocals as the signal to trigger the synth, rather than the synth playing, and you using your mouth to articulate the speech. Alot of the character is lost on vocoders. Thats why the talk box sounds so crispy, cause you can precisely articulate each syllable, with a rich sine wave to power it. Vocoders tend to be more pad like sounding and therefore become a bit muffled and theres no way to feedbit all the data needed to sound as clear as the talk box.
Ghost notes like for emulating real drum playing? I usually just lower the velocity low on those. I have a transposer tutorial. ruclips.net/video/q5ZPkLpff8Y/видео.html
10:40 on how to actually use the voice part of the vocoder
thanks man!
YESS I was hoping you had a video for this! Logic shld send your videos as instructions for all their plug ins lol!!! Videos may be long but cover everything like a manual, which is also long lol!
Thanks!
TIL it's the number that changes the waveform. truly innovative UX /s. great tute!!
I've had Logic for a number of years and for some reason never noticed this plug in was there! Coolness!
Holy cow this is an amazing tutorial. I use youtube tutorials all the time, and I've never found something so well described.
Best video on the Evoc20, you have explained every feature so well. Much love!
AS ALWAYS...Just what the doctor ordered. Clear & concise. Plus I got some fun ideas for a drum track I'm working on! But you're right about its limited functionality. I'll probably use a different plug-in on vocal tracks. Great job!
Great stuff. Thanx for the tips, info and calrity of presentation.
Thanks so much for this amazing, amazing series of Logic Pro X tutorials. The package is enormous and your information is so helpful! It has saved us hours of hard slog. Cheers Mate from Glenn & Dave.
Thank u for being a great human being and taking ti to help all of us noobs out cheers
This has been a real education for me - thank you so much!
i wish i knew about your tutorials a couple of years ago. These are great!!

Holy hell, this just opened up so many avenues...
I love how distracted you get from the actual goal
Check my channel for a 1 minute vocoder video, sounds better too
28:35: "there are better plugins" - which ones do you use/recommend? Thanks for this video.
Would like to know the answer to this as well.
Tal Vocoder is free.

Very helpful. Great work! Thank you!
Very cool! Very informative! Thank you!
You should write in the video description the topic of the next video (just the topic not the release date) that way you wont get asked "when is the mixing and mastering tutorial going to be released"
Love your videos!
That's a good idea, but I don't always know what my video is going to be!
Really helpful. Thanks for uploading!
Cheers bro this is actually so helpful
I like vocoders :) could you make another video in which you show some other vocoders? Maybe some vocoders which sound more realistic :D
What’s up people! We are Double Lyrical, an upcoming rap duo. We upload a new song every Sunday. We would appreciate it if you’d check us out and leave some feedback!

Believable or not, I think it's pretty neat!
Any thoughts on how to get a similar vocoder sound as Kavinsky's nightcall? I feel like he is blending with whispering. Thanks videos are great btw!
Very helpful , thank you much.
I improve my english with your videos ... cool.
Need ur help~~
I don't have any preset and I already checked my sound library that I did install all of the available things >< And also I follow all of ur instruction!!
Appreciate!!
Great!!!! very well explained, thks!!!
very good tutorial, cheers
Did you use chords that were already in the key of her song or are they just a progression you randomly picked.
thanks couldn't figure out how to use this thing!
Trying to make a soft you hear in your head co to life might be the hardest part starting out but I guess that requires so solid
Thanks a bunch !!!!
It really helps me a lot.
This made my music production MUCH better! Thnx dude!
If you got any tips. Is there any other synth's that can do this to? Like when i go on my PC Win7 i have FL studio.
Yes it's called Fruity Vocoder.
okay cool! Thnx! :D
i cant find the evoc.. i need to add a software audio track... then this should be located in synths?
hi,your vids are excellent and I find them very useful. There is a sample in LPX apple loops called Building Blocks Synth. Can you please make a video tutorial on how to use a vocoder live ???
👍🏻 From France
perfect tutorial. thank you!

grande!
Out of curiosity what would happen if you did this method of using the vocoder on vocals, but instead with guitar?
As for the drum loop: Is this in key then? Because sometimes when you load up a sample and play the C on your keyboard it's actually not the C but another note, and you can pitch it up following the octaves. How do you know when this is the case?
thank you bro thank you
you're a god
Worked, thx
Great tutorial - lip slaps are annoying though O_o
Great video!!! wowowow
thank you again..god tuto..
could you also vocode it live while you are singing through the audio channel?
Is the vocoder meant to silence everything else? When I use a sidechain input from the track or a buss the midi notes on the vocoder play but silence all other tracks. How do I blend it with the whole mix?

Do you need a high quality vocoder track for your songs?
How can I get to hear the vocoder effect while I'm recording my voice? Mine only plays the vocoder effect after I've recorded my voice. Please help!
I'm stuck on that too. Have you figured anything out?
Yeah! You need to link the vocoder to your input instead of the audio track when wanting to hear it live.
Michael Burke can you walk me through how to do this please?? i have not figured it out yet and it's driving me crazy
Is there any way to change the Pitch LFO via from the wheel?
THE Man........
WHY DOESN'T THE SIDE CHAIN BUTTON SHOW UP?
You just need to enable the advanced tools in the preferences
ENABLE ADVANCED TOOLS!!!! Otherwise you basically just have a $300 garageband
Lmao "$300 Garageband"
SUPER VIDEO
Thanks!!!
whats that generator key app called the one with the anime girls on it
Hi All, I have a very simple question : I follwo up all the steps but I do not have side chain menu on the top bar... Dont know why ? Somebody can help on this before I go crazy ! Tx all
In my vocoder shows "manual" and not "factory default" and it doesn't show me the same options, solution? thanks!
I have a tutorial that's a lot easier to follow, sounds better too
Could you use this to get that "California Love" talk box effect?
No. What you want in that case, is whats known as a talk box. Thank you for the reply and the tutorial! I plan on getting a talk box in the future but this will still help in my production.
no not "sedition" (auto spelling correction...) I don't have the button that says "SIDECHAIN"
Thanks.. :)

hello is there a way to do ghost notes in logic x, also can you do tutorial on transposer
Ghost notes like for emulating real drum playing? I usually just lower the velocity low on those. I have a transposer tutorial. ruclips.net/video/q5ZPkLpff8Y/видео.html
Ghost notes like for emulating melody like synths
which vst-vocoder is better and why ?
Check my channel for the best one
Keys won't play no sound from synth? can any one help
how to key butons push ?
someone please give me link to this beat or remake it ill pay
what is this beat
So much potential but too complicated this plugin IMO
I have a video on a much simpler vocoder, check it out
Damn son, compress those vocals
Sorry for being too null
Annnnoyiiiing
Horrible Vocoder ,more like a morphoder
Check my channel for a really clean one, sounds like Daft Punk's Random Access Memories
I like vocoders a lot but the EVOC20 is such garbage. It's really a shame because logic has a lot of great plugins.
Check my channel for a much, much better sounding vocoder
