Girl, I don't know who told you they like neutrals, but I am a WILD-, BOLD-, COLORFUL-fabric kinda girl. I'm going to make this with some funky fabrics - probably starting with some apple green faux leather from my stash. Thanks again for a great tutorial!
I LITERALLY just squeaked with excitement!!! Have been looking for the perfect laptop bag pattern for a-g-e-s and here it is! Thank you Jess and Sallie Tomato!!
Thanks Jess. Your tutorials are so easy to follow. I love your teaching style. I just got this pattern and am eager to get sewing (with you by my side on onscreen 😉).
LOVE the second bag you showed at the end. The upholstery fabric was cuuuuuute. You are so funny and entertaining when you make your sound effects and comments… party on the inside 😂
Finally made this bag! Sooo glad you put this tutorial together as I don't think I would have been able to do this with the written instructions alone. I have probably referred this this video 10 times. So thank you! I feel so accomplished :) Can't wait to tote this to work and show it off. There was juuuust enough lining fabric leftover to make a small slip pocket so I did add that.
I just bought all the fabric and the hardware for this bag and I just purchased the pattern, I am so excited to get started!!!! Thank you for helping me through this with this great tutorial!!!
This is very very nice. I do wish you had shown how to do the rivets. I just bought my grandson (13) a laptop and I need a cover for it. So I might give this a try.
March mystery box, I have completed today August 6th. My machine could not complete the job. I had to get out the 60-year-old singer I inherited to complete the binding. Now I still have 5 more mystery boxes to complete. I did change the outside fabric to a waterproof. Thought it might hold up better for wear and tear then the original canvas.
I already had this pattern (just the pattern) as it came from Sallie Tomato’s January 14 day mystery box. I was hoping you’d be doing a tutorial for it. Now I can make it! Yeah!
Angela I just bought this pattern but where do you find the pieces to cut out? on page 5 is just one piece? am I missing something? I am new to bag making lol - normally you get templates to cut out right? but can't see any only the layout of the pieces on page 6- I need the pieces lol help !
@@purelivingfoodsbygina4244 it’s all rectangles. All the measurements are on page 1. The last page of the pattern instructions has how to lay it all out on each type of material
My kit came today. I’m going to use ByAnnie Soft and Stable instead of the Sallie Tomato foam. I’m saving the ST foam for storage Carlton packing cubes. BTW, the Carlton would be a great OklaRoots ST monthly mystery kit!
Doff my Hat by ISY patterns! It’s super cute and though it looks like a difficult challenge it can be beginner friendly. Just follow the instructions lol
Bought the pattern after seeing your video! Thanks for all the links too!! I love your iron too, link please 🙏🏿 and that binding in the package, is that from Amazon too?
Quick question, when you say canvas, do you mean cotton canvas? I haven’t used any type of canvas before & just want to make sure I get the correct kind
Why no interfacing on lower gusset, when the pattern calls for it? Nerdy confusing. My gusset lining totally stretched. I had to start the gusset all over. 😢
The machine she usually uses in her videos is a Bernina but she also has a Juki industrial that she’s featured in a few videos. (It’s not her favorite machine though)
Ugh, I am making this bag and I just decided that foam and I, we are not going to be friends. Any tips for a newbie....I see the new mystery box also has some type of foam...I have to figure this out. I need help I do really like all the bags from the mystery box.
Foam can DEFINITELY be a challenge. You could actually do a very light quilting first, to attach the quilt cotton to the foam, and it makes it loads easier to sew with later.
Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I am thinking about spray glueing it down on my next bag. Do you have pros or cons to doing that? I just need to try and keep stuff in place. Everything just buckled even with my clips. I am unsure what exactly you mean when you say "light qulting".
You are calling this faux leather and I really think you used vinyl which is way stronger than the faux leather, I hope this bag holds up with the faux leather i bought at Joann's. Ugg!!!!!
You knew what she meant so not sure it’s a necessity to be correcting her. But- regardless bounded is a word according to Webster and grammerly. “Bounded is the past tense and past participle of the verb bound, which has two main definitions: (1) to confine or serve as the boundary of, and (2) to leap or spring. For example, an island is bounded on all sides by water, and somewhere a rabbit bounded out of a bush this morning.”

Thanks Jess. Your tutorials are so easy to follow. I love your teaching style. I just got this pattern and am eager to get sewing (with you by my side on onscreen 😉).

Kathy’s Binding hack for “by Annie” bags would work for this bag!
Oooooooooo I really like how your tester bag turned out! I’m going to do that 🤩
I’ve been looking for a laptop bag!!!! I’ve been using a large Swoon Annette, and I love it, but I’m ready to make a new one :) love this ❤

Thanks so much Angela. X
Don’t buy the pattern. It is awful to use, no templates just instructions. Sorry I can’t return it.

Great video! You are a great instructor :)
Another amazing choice of textile and color/print 🥰. You’re so good at that Jess! Love this laptop bag definitely adding to my loooong to make list 🤣
you should try the binding trick where you cut it all in a loop. sew once and cut once and you have like 5 feet of binding. sooooooo easy and fast!
I got my box and I am going to use the animal print on the outside
Thanks for sharing 😊
27 seconds in and I want to make this bag 😂
I love it! So nice
I love it!!!!
Love this tutorial! I've always avoided binding but I think I'll try it out. Is the water resistant canvas binding put on the same way?
I literally just got some press on nails that are similar to yours! I saw yours on Instagram and had to have something similar ❤️😍
Ty SO MUCH for this !
Excellent tutorial! Love watching your videos! What sewing machine do you use?
Do you think it is possible to resize this bag a bit smaller?
Instead of foam could you use quilted panels or would that make it too thick?
Can u use FOE for binding?
Love this!!
Love it!!
Looking to purchase the pattern
and can I use Pellon foam interface for this? do I need the one that irons on? thanks
I finished one bag! Thank you Jess for the tutorial!! I wanted to ask a question, how much would this sell for?
Love it !
I love it! Is the March box still available?
Is it possible to use jelly vinyl for binding?
You had me until 'binding' LOL I'm going to have to put my big girl pants on and just suck it up and do it. 😩😩😩😩😩😩
For the upcoming Bella box can you please do a few videos making the projects inside? That would be really cool to sew along with ❤
What is the name of that grid-like foam stabilizer?
Cool beans! Could you make a sewing video on The Professional Tote by The Creative Thimble, please?
What machine are you using?
Can I purchase the pattern only?
Doff my Hat by ISY patterns! It’s super cute and though it looks like a difficult challenge it can be beginner friendly. Just follow the instructions lol

Beautiful bag have you ever considered sewing a diaper bag or mommy and me bag/backpack
Quick question, when you say canvas, do you mean cotton canvas? I haven’t used any type of canvas before & just want to make sure I get the correct kind
How do order these kits.
I am unable to find the foam on the Sallie Tomato site, any suggestions?
Why no interfacing on lower gusset, when the pattern calls for it? Nerdy confusing. My gusset lining totally stretched. I had to start the gusset all over. 😢
Where are the measurements for the bag pattern did not see them in the video ?
How do I get the pattern for the bag but it
Very nice bag.@ bag mania by Bhavna.
Has anyone tried this using fleece/wadding instead of the foam??
I think I am one of the few that was not excited about the fabric in this months box.
Jess, I plan to buy a new machine soon, which of the 4 you kindly listed could I do ALL of this on? Your main workhorse the Juki or Juka?
The machine she usually uses in her videos is a Bernina but she also has a Juki industrial that she’s featured in a few videos. (It’s not her favorite machine though)
@creolekitten, thank you so much 💖
We all feel your pain while doing the binding 😂

Now I regret skipping this month. 😢
Bounded? Bound.

The inner grammar natzi in me was thinking the same thing, but in real life, it doesn't matter. There are bigger fish to fry!
Love it😊
