I love the set up. I do find pinching the tab like you did is the way to go, though mine are not perfect. But I am not a machine and the uniqueness or unevenness or whatever adjective one wants to use, is what makes the planner mine! Though last year I ripped a page and nearly lost my mind. LOL! So I get the desire for perfection...
