    Nice review. Im all fairness about the soles, they were designed for working on concrete and man- made surfaces all day, day after day on the worksite. basically they were designed to be as comfortable on your feet and back as possible, while still being tough as nails. That being said, these soles are like greased lightning on ice and packed snow just as you have said.

    • @bluegrassman3040
      @bluegrassman3040 3 года назад

      I’m considering getting pair of these, myself. I work in a Toyota assembly plant, so I’m on my feet for 8-10.5 hours a day. The soles on the Timberland Pro Anti-Fatigue boots seem to want to come off...

    • @UBRLND-X
      @UBRLND-X 3 года назад +1

      @@bluegrassman3040 I completely agree about the Timberlsnd Pro line. I have had two pairs and while they are great outside and I use them for slippery work, they are ultimately glued on soles and not re- solable. the biggest benefit of the Thorogood is that you break them into your foot and then can keep resoling those comfortable shoes multiple times. I end up using mine as my go to shoes because of how comfortable they are.

    • @bluegrassman3040
      @bluegrassman3040 3 года назад

      @@UBRLND-X I had to add Dr Scholls inserts to my Timberlands. They are not quite as comfortable than previous pairs of the same brand and style I’ve have in the past. I’m strongly considering a pair of the Thorogoods.

    I disagree about those soles being bad on ice. All shoes and boots suck on ice. Its ice. The only way to make it better is to use some of those metal cleat things you can clip onto your boot. Those soles are awesome. My favorite thing about them is that they're easy to clean. I HATE lug soles. You come home from work and you've got mud caked on and trying to clean it off is a pain in the ass. With the soles like the Thorogoods use its dead simple, scrape them on anything, then get them wet on the bottom and walk through grass sliding your feet. Great work boots! The best...

I took the plunge and went total custom and have never looked back. None other can compare to a full custom boot. Try it and you'll agree. Btw, my customs have a slight negative heel ,coming from 10 years of wearing wedge soles I didn't want the traditional custom boot like fire jumpers wear. Every since I switched to custom boots, I wear DARN TOIGH socks. Made in USA and they'll replace them FOR FREE when you wear them out. Get some

    I wonder when there gonna make these with a heel as an option

    • @lukecmarcotte

      I honestly hate heeled options personally. It also seems that everybody I know who buys these, do so because they also dont like heels.

    Did you need to size a 1/2 size like red wings I’m thinking about getting a pair for summer the unlined style

    • @lukecmarcotte
      @lukecmarcotte  4 года назад +1

      I have always wore 10 1/2 everything, whether it be red wing or thorogood or any other brand I've worn. Although, If I wanted I could probably fit into a 10 instead of a 10 1/2. But they work great. I also have wide feet and need the EE.
      And these boots work great in the summer. Even when I wear the waterproof ones they are not to hot. But If your up for buying multiple boots like me, I rock the unlined for summer as well.

      Luke Marcotte I’m a bootahilic lol I’ve got the gortex red wings and their ok now but I got them mid August and they were definitely warm and still had the new smell plus I’ve wanted to try thorogoods I’ve seen the website Midwest boots has a good selection I’ve heard you can’t buy directly from thorogood

    • @lukecmarcotte
      @lukecmarcotte  4 года назад

      @@irishman485 Nice, I know the feeling with being a boot a holic as well. I've had just about every red wing mom toe boot and I think these thorogoods or on par with or better then their products. I usually buy my boots from small town retailers to support small business so I never tried directly from Thorogood. Plus I like trying things on before I buy online.

      Luke Marcotte that’s one reason why I’ve really only bought red wings since theirs 3 stores within 40 minutes of me I’m near Boston I haven’t seen to many places that sell thorogoods your video was very helpful thank you I’ve heard their wedge soles last a lot longer than red wings

    • @lukecmarcotte
      @lukecmarcotte  4 года назад +1

      Brendan O'Reilly for sure man. I would say they run true to size and right on par with red wing. Wedge sole is 10x better then red wings.
      And thanks man I appreciate the compliment. You should check out some of my other videos. It’s a series I’m doing called the blue collar power hour. Tell your friends and anybody looking to get in the trades! 💪

      Midwest boots..com I do not know if they are a good company to buy.
      Amazon has them but you'll put little guys out of business if you buy from them..

    I was recently boot shopping and looked at thorogoods, but they came off as cheap looking, especially inside. I've bought boots at Kmart that looked better made. Once I found out also they're union made, that completely killed it for me. Enjoy "your" president, unions.

    went to try these on at boot barn and i was blown away at how comfortable they were. just debating now on the color I want and whether I want the wide or the regular fit
    Would you happen to know if the regular fit ones would stretch a little? I like them tight but they are just a little too tight on the top

    • @adamswaz4878
      @adamswaz4878 Год назад

      They do stretch, dont get wide cause the top rubs a little it will probably be the same issue. You can get the steel toe that def makes the toe area higher
