The Microtech Amphibian Prototype is back and better than ever! This manual Amphibian iteration boasts Microtech's Ram-Lok crossbar lock, which offers ambidextrous operation via the X-Buttons on either side. Naturally, the Amphibian includes a reversible pocket clip to make this knife fully left- and right-hand friendly. The clip is distinct: milled titanium with some jimping that allows you to firmly grip the knife when it's in your pocket and draw it reliably. The real star of the show is the blade, of course. Made from Bohler M390MK with Microtech's excellent heat treat, you'll be slicing and dicing without any hiccups. If you're in the market for a big, USA-made, hard-use folder, the Amphibian is sure to please!
I thought the MSI was my favorite microtech knife until i owned my amphibian. Its my favorite knife i own. From combat troodons to dirac deltas, the amphibian is my favorite.
It's a awesome model!
Such an incredible blade! Amphibian is my next carry piece!
👊👊👊
No all black out options. Just that two tone with black on the bevel and satin on the flats. Pass
Very nice, I have been having a HARD time finding in color and configurations I want :(
1:27 You're issue with the Stitch remind me of my aversion to Spyderco. With few exceptions like the Smock, I can't get over the "Dead Bird" blade stuffed into a small handle.
I'm also glad the Amphibian costs more than the MSI because I'm always annoyed that Wharncliff/Reverse Tanto blades always seem to cost more than a Drop Point and finally it's the other way around.
Mine failed the back whack test miserably
Dang man. That sucks. Is it an older one?
Don’t like the exposed spring. Easy to get dirt in there with heavy use and induce a malfunction.
That would be a good test. Pack that full of mud and see what happens
The Manix has an exposed spring and I’ve never herd anyone having issues with that. So I’m sure the Ram Lock will perform just fine.
I had problems with my ram lok stitch. I could bearly tap the back of the blade and the lock would fail. I sent it in to Microtech for warranty work. They completely fixed the issue and resharpen. Two thumbs up for Microtech.
Hey man how long ago was that?
The only thing I dislike about this knife is the titanium pocket clip. It's just a bit too stiff for me. Other then that It's aesthetically pleasing.
I just got the Amphibian and I think it’s awesome. My first Microtech (just caught the knife bug), but it’s my favorite out of 14 right now. It just seems like the perfect all around knife.
👊👊👊
Sounds like you may live down here in Bama, with all the lax carry laws you were talking about! 😂😂 I also prefer the amphibian pocket clip. Been looking to get one for my MSI. I'll be picking up one of the carbon fiber models, once I can find it for around MSRP, since you asked. Lol
Although I love the stitch I totally agree with you. This knife it’s SUPER SPECIAL, i just got the OD green and the black… currently hunting for the carbon fiber!!!
I do not trust the ram lok interface it's like .080" of lap and I'm not cool with it
Such an incredible blade! Amphibian is my next carry piece!
great video! love the knife content. I agree, recurves need to make a comeback.
I’m gonna wait but I will buy one
Looks absolutely cool.
The black one is pretty cool. Microtech is amazing this year. I was able to get the legendary socom elite after looking for it for years and I should definitely get one of these ram locks sooner or later
👊👊👊
Gotta get my hands on one of these! Esp the carbon fiber one! Great vid Carter!
Thanks!
Do you have a preference on the partial serrated vs plain edge ?
I prefer serrated
