Just look at the lines and design on this little bike too. It truly is a work of art, and stunning to behold! Kind of looks like a mini Ducati, or thereabouts!
That's nice I'm in the UK and a mate had a black one but an mbx it had a little bikini fairing. They were restricted to 3hp here my mate took a washer out of the exhaust and removed half the baffles you could hear him coming from about 2 miles away 😂
What I'd have given for than in 1982! 50 mph???? I could get near 40 with a very strong back wind on my geared up DT50. I think those MT's had a fairing over here (UK)
I still have mine Bought it back in 1986, at Laconia Honda. I have the optional luggage Rack. Needs new tires, battery and fuel line. Still starts. But would love to have it upgraded.
Remember them well. I always like the way they looked. I just didn't think they had enough gofast. But now you guys seem to solve that problemit's a wonderful little fun bike
You can make them incredibly fast by mounting an MB-8 engine with a 113cc Malossi cylinder, reedvalve, intakemanifold, 28mm carburettor and a DPR exhaust.
I'm from SBCal they were slow to slow but very made well I had The AR50 it was a little bit faster would love to have one are other they were really cool back in the day
TEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED RPM REDLINE !!! The marketing on that bike made me get one brand new in 82 . It's no rd 400 although for what it is and what it does it's difficult to beat .
I wanted one so bad back when I was like 14. Had a Yamaha cs3, the purple one that was pretty clean and had a sorta beat up rd400 too. I tried to trade then rd in for a brand new Mb5 at our local Honda dealer and they made me a deal for the RD400 plus some cash. Day came to bring the bike to em and had the cash but I didn’t have the title right (never transferred from last owner or something can’t remember exactly) and they wouldn’t take it. It bummed me out so bad. As a kid all I could think about was cruising that brand new MB5 around and doing it legally for once. 50cc here in indiana doesn’t need a license or anything. Needless to say I had been riding my bigger bikes illegally and the local cops were done giving warning and calling mom. Next time they claimed I was getting locked up so I really wanted that MB5. Been considering finding one and turning it into a restomod, building the engine with parts from Europe or Japan. They got a couple even cooler models we didn’t in the states!
@@robertmason8341 I rode that mb5 on the interstate as the speed limit was 55mph . I did many 100+ mile trips on it . Got pulled over in a podunk town as an officer told me there were reports of a black motorcycle speeding on the highway . I started laughing. He asked me what was so funny . I told him my bike tops out at 60 mph with the wind to my back and offered to let him ride it . He declined and let me go . There is a cult following today and that bike is highly sought after to those in the know .
Oh my god ..theres my little MB5 that was my first bike back in 1991 i drove it for 1 summer then traded it in for my 81 Honda Twinstar 200 .i tell ya i wish i still had it as what ppl are asking for that bike as it wa only made for 1 year.i dont know if the 4 to 5 grand iv seen it asked for is worth it ..
70cc (actually it's 65cc) makes it a lot more enjoyable to drive, where very popular mopeds in 80's and early 90's here in The Netherlands. Now they are making a small comeback as enthusiast bikes/mopeds., this one seems to be very nice&sorted.

Love it...what a flashback! Wish these and smaller 2 strokes, esp for the street, would make a come back!

wow! I had exactly that one when I was 16...major flashback, thanks!
I had an MB-8 back in the day with alot of engine work. It would walk away from my buddies 50cc kitted mopeds.
Billy riding the Isle de Museum banging second gear. LOL
I love that steering stabilizer, very primitive design compared to the ones that come on bikes today but I bet it was beyond trick for the time.
おお、懐かしい音。昭和56年に中古で買いました。Uh oh,Nostalgic sound!.I bought this on 1981-used.
man i really want this bike for my first motorcycle. it would go great with my '88 TRX250R and '85 Odyssey 350.
Trials skills shown here
Sweet! Nice one JR & Bill.
You guys should look for a Honda MTX OT/SH of a MT5 (off road models) they were also from the MB/MT series of honda. Awesome bikes
Nice! ...One of these days, I swear I'm going see you guys find a Kreidler Van Veen 50cc GP....It won't be cheap though. 😉 (Even a replica)
I'm from SBCal they were slow to slow but very made well I had The AR50 it was a little bit faster would love to have one are other they were really cool back in the day
had the MT5 the trials model great little bikes 😁
We tuned the hell out of them back in the day
So did we, the insurance for a MB or MT was over twice as high as other mopeds because of this 😅😄
Awesome fast li'l machine en it's got the big bore and those ubiquitous Com Star wheels that Honda put on nearly all it's bikes from '77-circa83
綺麗な状態ですね
びっくりです

One just sold for $1,000 on Craigslist San Francisco Bay Area under Motorcycle Parts. Still posted if you want to see.

It's no rd 400 although for what it is and what it does it's difficult to beat .
Oh yeah... the 10,500 RPM redline is one of the reasons this bike is such a blast to ride! It's a 2 stroke orgasm!

This thing needs a mb 80 engine :) with maybe a 110cc cilinder ;)
I'm wondering what organ I can sell so I can buy this! I always loved this bike from the first time I saw one. Beautiful bike guys!
Whichever is smaller than another!! pp-cc
I have the same bike!
Bet it smells good in there😆
I would love to see this in a 185cc opposed twin and a 6 speed. Mono shock in the rear...top out at 80 mph plus with a one third fairing....75 mpg..
👊🏻✊🏻👍🏻
You have to register the mb5 and have a license for this. it is not a moped. 5 speed and no peddles. It's a motorcycle.
Love it!!!
How much did you end up selling this gorgeous beauty for?

sweet bike
This bike was restricted to 30mph in the UK 🇬🇧 Rare as eggs teeth back in the day for that reason.
Same here but everybody tuned them up with bigger carbs, cilinders the works, is illegal though but we did it anyway 😄
Who bought this one?
What does a mb5 cost on the market today?
About $1,500 - 4,000. Check sold items on Mecum Auction.

good lord it needed a steering dampener? what the heck?
The steering on mine is just fine without the dampener, but it's just added insurance.
My cousin had 1 and he could keep up with me on my Honda XL 185🤨
its manual will say 49 cc
As every 50 cc.
Put a H1 engine in , straight swop double BHP
