I think FSU should make it, BUT it is extremely entitled for FSU to act like this is the most eggregious action ever taken, when they are now just the 24th undefeated team in the last 25 years to not make a championship game. Need I remind FSU fans of 2000 when FSU literally lost to Miami, yet magically made the BCS title game over them despite both teams having the same record? Need I remind FSU fans that P5 teams went undefeated in 2004, 2009 and 2012 yet they didnt make a title game? Or how about 2007 when the team with the best record was 12-1 Kansas and they didnt even make a BCS bowl game? Need I remind FSU fans that there are several G5 teams with ASTRONOMICALLY SUPERIOR resumes than 2023 FSU who didnt make a title game because those believed their teams were just inferior? 2004 Utah - Beat 4 OOC P5 teams 202-47, never trailed in a single game all season, closest margin of win was a 17 point victory, had the #1 overall NFL draft pick, and went onto demolish the ACC champ 35-7 in bowls........ 2008 Utah - Beat 5 Top 25 teams, 2 Top 10 teams - didnt even make the Top 5 somehow despite being 1 of 2 undefeated teams on the season? 2009 Boise State - Beat 2 Top 10 teams, beat the PAC Champ by 18, had the #1 offense, #8 best defense and #2 higher margin of victory on the season - magically didnt even make the Top 5? 2010 TCU - back to back undefeated seasons, beat 5 Top 25 teams including 2 Top 10 teams, averaged a 29.5 margin of victory over ranked teams, shutout 4 teams 164-0, ranked #4 in offense, #1 in defense, #2 in MOV; ranked #1 by Billingsley and Anderson Hester polls; was the first team in NCAA history to go undefeated and get jumped out of a championship by 2 lower ranked teams, had 12 NFL draft picks including a future ALL Pro NFL QB; arguably the most egregious snubbed team of all time. 2010 Boise State - won 34 straight games. Played 5 Top 25 teams; beat 4 Top 25 teams including 2 Top 15 teams, averaged a 28.8 margin of victory over ranked teams, shutout 3 teams 161-0, beat the ACC Champ on the road in OOC, ranked #2 in offense, #2 in defense, #1 in MOV; ranked #1 by Colley, SP+ and SRS; statistically the best G5 team to ever play the game; arguably the most egregious snubbed team of all time - magically didnt even make a BCS Bowl game........ Yep. The fact that an SEC based channel that supports the SEC is so willing to point out the blatant biases of the committee says a whole lot about the problem at hand.
Exactly, and AI bases itself only on the information it’s allowed to see. Which is what’s wrong with a Lot of current AI, they block it from a lot of information to have to coincide with their own beliefs and politics.
Greeny lost his mind when he said Bama should be in over Texas. Texas beat them at their own place, and was only 1 spot less in the SOS. Him and SAS always smoking crack
So if one of the started get hurt during the semi final games does the game get rescheduled? Punish a perfect team for an injuries player just to justify getting at least one SEC team in. I was shocked they left fsu out and was also shocked they didn’t leave Texas out as well to have bama and Georgia
Alabama struggled against south Florida struggle against Auburn lost to Texas and almost lost the sec championship. It has nothing to do about the players it has everything to with the fact Nick saban is the head coach
FSU is a different team without Travis they struggled offensively compared to before and relied on the defense to win them the game they would get smoked by any of the top 4 teams and that will show against Georgia Secondly they lost to Texas week 2 along with that Bama is one of the best 4 teams along with the other 3 in the playoffs right now if you don’t think so watch Michigan’s reaction to then being number 4 of the power 5 conference champions FSU was the weakest Also strength of schedule had a ton to do with this as well 4th compared to 55th
Didn't the Eagles win the SB with a backup and they beat Tom Brady and the Patriots. I am a Mountaineer fan for life but I like FSU. The team and there uniforms and history drawed me in and I was rooting for them and still am. If u replace FSU with Clemson they would be in. The playoff committee needs a paycut because they are always getting it wrong. They cant even make a proper bracket system for college football.
A side effect nobody is talking about is potentially affecting FSU's recruitment prospects outside of major nil deal players. If you are a good player and have to decide between a school that can lose one game and get in the playoff versus going undefeated on another and still not making the playoffs, would you not choose the other school, everything else being equal? I guess with the expansion its not as big of a deal as it could be, but just a thought.
There is NO criteria point for being undefeated. To be fair, I'd like to see the criteria that says it has to be only Power 5 conferences considered. If being undefeated was such a huge criteria, then Liberty would be in the discussion...and they are not. Regardless, even IF it was a piece of Criteria, there isn't anything saying we start with X and that is the most important. I'm tired of everyone throwing around undefeated like it is this big thing. Joel Klatt said it last week, when he said that Clemson shouldn't have been in the Top 25 and the fact that they are would influence FSU's strength of schedule and strength of record.
@@LostArkitekt I’m not addressing the beginning of your comment because Greeny talked about everything you mentioned, minus Clemson.
I mean to sit there and act like you are so hurt and that its such a shock for this to happen when the MWC Champion went undefeated in 2004, 2008, 2009, and 2010......... And those teams had better offenses, better defenses, more MOV, more draft picks and in some cases played undeniably harder schedules than the current state of the ACC; and beat the ACC Champ, Big East Champ, ACC Runner Up, B12 Runner Up and B10 Champ. And YOU FEEL ENTITLED TO A CHAMPIONSHIP? Its not even close.
Fsu wouldn't win against any of these teams in the top 4 with their backup qb.
Strength of record may put FSU at #3 but it doesnt take into account the most important factor the committee used. Espns potential ad revenue.
I literally thought they were using a green screen and Stephen A wasn’t really standing directly next to Pat. Still not 100% that’s not the case these edibles I ate are boldly hittin’ right now.
Pat needs to have the “SEC Shorts” gang on; They did a TREMENDOUS job of how FSU was robbed.
Yep. The fact that an SEC based channel that supports the SEC is so willing to point out the blatant biases of the committee says a whole lot about the problem at hand.
Someone has got to tell Greeny that the problem with his argument is the human who designed the algorithm that the computer relies on.
Exactly, and AI bases itself only on the information it’s allowed to see. Which is what’s wrong with a Lot of current AI, they block it from a lot of information to have to coincide with their own beliefs and politics.
"this balls deflated...you get it from brady?" can't lie Greeny that was gold
Stephen A making sense and not screaming … this ai generated or what ?
This is why we tune into the show! Love it! 😂
I think we need to make schedules that are not Cupcake ones to avoid this whole mess.
With so many teams changing conferences, next season schedules will be getting tougher
I mean Florida State did that, so what else?
It would be fun to see how Texas do in SEC.
@@DuckFanDane have you seen Washington’s or Michigan’s schedule? They arguably had a much easier schedule
@Meccanoltd I mean, they kicked Alabama butt this year and they ended up being their conference champion
Never put Steven a on your show again!!!!!!! What the hell are you thinking.
You promised you wouldn’t change the show into a dumpster fire.
If it’s because injury then why were they ranked in top 4 past few weeks
Greeny lost his mind when he said Bama should be in over Texas. Texas beat them at their own place, and was only 1 spot less in the SOS. Him and SAS always smoking crack
So if one of the started get hurt during the semi final games does the game get rescheduled? Punish a perfect team for an injuries player just to justify getting at least one SEC team in. I was shocked they left fsu out and was also shocked they didn’t leave Texas out as well to have bama and Georgia
This segment is so good! More of this espn
They'll consider anything that allows them to shoehorn Alabama into the playoffs.
9:47 Pat’s Revenge. Priceless
This was so awkward and awful. You can tell how much pat hates this lol
Also rude, Stephen A addicted to attention
Everyone seems to forget that TCU beat Michigan in the semifinal before getting blown out by Georgia.
Alabama struggled against south Florida struggle against Auburn lost to Texas and almost lost the sec championship. It has nothing to do about the players it has everything to with the fact Nick saban is the head coach
FSU is a different team without Travis they struggled offensively compared to before and relied on the defense to win them the game they would get smoked by any of the top 4 teams and that will show against Georgia
Secondly they lost to Texas week 2 along with that Bama is one of the best 4 teams along with the other 3 in the playoffs right now if you don’t think so watch Michigan’s reaction to then being number 4 of the power 5 conference champions FSU was the weakest
Also strength of schedule had a ton to do with this as well 4th compared to 55th
Your team didn't make it. Cry more or pipe down 😂
And it’s probably his last year
This was easily the worst part of todays show, I watch Pat’s show to watch Pat. Not to watch Stephen A. and Mike Greenburg be annoying.
FSU and WVU will always be linked by the GOAT coach Mr. Bowden. shouldve been WV vs FSU in the 93 title game.
Great show man. Love the energy you guys bring.
Also, the same committee who errantly placed Clemson too high also didn’t put FSU in, so clearly that didn’t affect anything outside of analytics.
Plus I only mentioned that in terms of recruiting, which is a valid point. Because you are basically saying that FSU is equal to a group of five team when they are in a power 5 conference.
@@LostArkitektLiberty argument is weak. They aren't a power 5. And if you want to talk about strength of schedule. They were ranked 116. Find a better argument
If that in the rules then its justified, eventhough FSU is getting a raw deal..Its about ratings, money and power. Not whats right or just.
this is so live how SA and Greeny just can come in and just chat this doesn’t even seem like a segment
Loving the collaborations!

Alabama-Michigan is just the better game plain and simple. No one watched FSU win and thought that was a great game.
This is the most WWE thing I've seen. I was dying laughing, so good!
i’ve been watching pms for like 4 years, this is the second time i’ve stopped watching in the middle of the show. talking heads yelling at each other.
Its a business, they do not care whats good for the teams, they care about what games will bring in the most $$$$.
this is seriously the only show i wanted to watch discuss this topic. been waitin all day. LETS GO
I stumbled on this show to see what they would say...this show is terrible.
@@LostArkitekt im not saying youre right or wrong, but i dont watch espn or TV so when i saw FSU was out, i wondered what McAfee would say because this probably the only sports 'show' i watch if i ever do watch a sports 'show'. to each their own though. FSU got screwed.
FSU will not be playing their 3rd string QB again! That's such a dumb argument.
Agree and I think Texas would be out........ there will always be a team that will be left out. People will make the argument about Texas beating Alabama and that is true, although it was week 2. If you think an evolving ALA beating Georgia is not impressive then I am not sure what is. Also Texas being beat by OU des put a spanner into Texas being one of the best 4 teams
This is like a parent teacher conference lol
I'd like to see what the bcs computers actually would pick as top 4
It’s already up. It had Bama at 3, FSU 4. Texas out.
Yeah I just finally found them but doesn't fix the Michigan bias they play no one in non conference games several non bowl eligible teams would be in a bowl game with Michigan's schedule only Ohio state had a decent
Alabama did not have the 5th hardest schedule it's so bias. They have one of the easiest schedules year after year playing no name teams.
3-4 cupcakes every year. Their one true OOC test and they got blown out. And they struggle in another OOC game.
It’s easy. ESPN carries the championship game, and didn’t want to risk FSU making it to get blown out of the water in the 1st quarter and not make ratings goals like last yr. No surprise they “leaned” on the committee.
In order to get blown out, you'd have to score points against the defense. The defense does not have a broken leg.
@@slow88LXthat defense has not played an O-line that can can match them the way Bama Georgia Texas, Michigan or Ohio State could. They are a different level of physical
@@davidlevins7646i disagree so let them settle it on the field....oh wait. You and i arent fortune tellers thats why they play the game.
@@davidlevins7646 Verse has been tackling QBs with linemen, he's up for the challenge.
@@schuylerthomas935 if they beat Georgia then they are free to claim a national championship. They can prove all the Bama fans and critics wrong. They have that game in front of them. But when Georgia wins by 2 touchdowns we will all be proven right.

best segment ive seen on espn.
Pat, I watch you so that I don't watch ESPN, get out of there
Bro not gon have anything to yap about when Georgia beats fsu by 40
Only way that happens is if the defensive stars sit out
If FSU wins, you say it's because of who didn't play. If FSU loses, you will thump your chest and say, "See, I told you!" You will do exactly what Greenie was talking about. You will pick the facts that support your position. It's what humans do.
@@coachmattcit’s called SEC bias
I hate this is what ESPN is slowing going to turn Pat into.
funny?
God bless Greeny, going up to bat for FSU is huge.
A lot of people don’t know that Stephen eyebrows actually evicted the lower part of his hairline for not paying forehead rent. Now they have more room to go up when saying something dumb
Alabama barely beat Auburn.
FSU would loose to Auburn liberty and James Maddison University the way their offense is playing
@@BSTVsportsYou mean the same Auburn that got DESTROYED by New Mexico State? And Alabama needed the stupidity of the Auburn coaching staff on that last play to win? Really?
And Liberty and James Madison, neither of which are in the same league as elite talent? James Madison lost to App. State (at home no less), which just got DESTROYED by Troy over the weekend in its conference championship game.
And this is proof that everyone was right that the Pat McAfee show would go downhill..... absolute cringe here...
What about the reality check next year when 6 of the “Final 12” are from the SEC…followed by an entire SEC Final 4, the country will lose its mind! 🍿🤯
The country wouldnt lose its mind if teams got a chance to play them, but then lost. The country would say "damn. This might not be a fair system. Maybe SEC needs to be it's own Division" or something like that.
Fortunately there isn't 12 SEC Teams on that level. It's almost always the same top teams in the SEC for the past couple years so maybe, 5 SEC teams will be in it next year
@@cmike123but of more SEC teams are allowed in, then by default they have a better chance of winning. Hell, I could see LSU and definitely Georgia beating Washington or Michigan this year, but I wouldn’t say they should be in. Idk I’m talking out my ass-maybe that does mean more SEC teams should be in next year lol.
@@mundanemorselsmundanemorse7028 more teams in the play off means we have a potential for more long shots to get it. If for some reason it is all SEC, but more teams even have a chance then it is what it is. If SEC is coaching better than every other conference, then the other conferences need to step up. Some of it is a money issue (Michigan is going to have more money than Howard), but a lot of it is about being able to coach kids up.
Be nice if Steven a smith and Greeny would just stay on their show and not turn this one into a shouting match and repeat themselves for 15 minutes and ruin the hour
If it’s the 4 best teams then why not replace Washington with Georgia?
Get Stephen A outta there. He's stinking up the show. He's a joke and the most unathletic person at ESPN
Damn i thought pat would’ve been on fsu side of this with how much he usually cares abt the players. What happened was an absolute disgrace to cfb
So they punish FSU because they don’t have their QB. But they don’t use that same thinking with Georgia having Bowers and Mckonkey hurt vs Bama. Those guys will be healthy in a month so why leave them out?
If travis is so good, our team can't go to the playoffs without him, he's an obvious heisman winner right?
You’re confusing MVP of your team….with best player in the country.
Best 4 teams should be in. FSU, without a QB, is not one of those 4. Sorry.
Love Greeny!
SAS is unbearable
NCAA wanted that punishment on Michigan. Alabama was the only option to bury them.
Texas isn’t an easy option for us either
😂he sent me at the “That would be YOU, and YOU”
Bro the pat mcafee adlibs are goated 😂😂😂
Georgia about to show everyone why Florida State was left out, mark my words.
That is stupid. They deserve to be there because they won. Texas and Alabama didn’t win. It is that simple. Want to talk about style points? How many points did Bama put on USF? Less than 20. FSU allowed fewer points against LSU than Bama and beat them by more than Bama. Bama beat Auburn with a miracle. They beat Arkansas by three A&M by one score. Oh and they lost. Where is the style points?
How old are you ??
Both teams will have vital players opting out.
This isn't a playoff game, it would be plain stupid to risk injury in a game that has no meaning. Period. NFL money is on the table
