@@RiddimRyder Urbex Opie is soo cute. He'll learn to explore these places in no time flat. It's a new learning curve for him to go up and down those stairs. I know you guys will make sure that you doesn't step on any glass. Take care you guys. Love Opie!
When I was a little kid living at the top of Hyde Park Avenue in Hamilton Ontario in the early 70's, I could see the cross of Lorraine at Chedoke hospital off in the distance on the escarpment from my bedroom window. On freezing, stormy nights when it seemed like the whole world was plunged into darkness, a little boy can feel very alone. But that red cross at the hospital always broke through the winter darkness and comforted me somehow. It breaks my heart to see this grand old hospital abandoned now. Especially with the knowledge that my younger brother was born there.
The rooms on the first floor that are for sound proof. Are for hearing tests. I was in one of those rooms many years ago.. Its sad and scary at the same time. Seeing those rooms
Chedoke was also an asylum for patients having the 1918 Spanish Flu. In good weather the staff would wheel patients onto the front lawn that overlooked Hamilton.
I worked at the Chedoke Campus for 3.5 years between 1995-1998. It was a unique site to work at until the hospital starting selling off parts of the property to housing developers.
I used to volunteer at Cherokee hospital on the Information desk and spent a week in that hospital when I fractured my back. Just looking at the destruction and the way it was left makes me sad.
I appreciate your comment actually and several others as firsthand memories of this place that you have. I had also gone to this Hospital when my own father had broke his neck and his back when I was younger. I was quite young like five or six. He ended up returning there for repeat physio appointments which I also came along with him sometimes and waited for him . This is an odd question but what was the address of the place the actual Hospital? Because I wasn't driving and too young to really recall the details also the roadways have changed and we were from Stony Creek back then so had to travel to come to this hospital and again no link or Red Hill made traffic different. If you reply I would really appreciate that a whole lot. I actually sent some prayers out a while ago for someone to post videos from back in the day of this place or now and look they have been answered so how surprising and cool is that❤!
Love it - TFS!! Kind of a bittersweet video for me to watch. I’m a Paediatric RN, & we moved from an old hospital into a new one five years ago. The old one was demolished quickly, & the land has sat empty, but I think it was recently bought. We miss the old hospital as it was so much more “homey”, & the new one is very “cold” & industrial looking. They wouldn’t let the Paediatric Ward be decorated for children much, as it also serves as overflow for adults, as they cut beds. Many great memories of working at the old hospital. Cute GF & puppy!! 🥰🇨🇦
I hear you Robin. I am a maternity nurse. Our old community hospital was torn down shortly after the new one was built. New one was designed for what the public wanted. A nightmare for nurses and other healthcare staff. It’s like a giant ant farm! I miss our old hospital too. 🇨🇦
Hi Opie!!! We love Opie & your girlfriend! Love seeing them! Loved this place! Nice wide hallways!!! Loved the murals, such talented artists! The observation rooms & time out rooms were good to see! I’ve worked with many of them! Sad that the furniture can’t be saved 😔 The wheelchair looked as though it reclined! A valuable tool!!! Loved the stained glass!!! They definitely need to save that!!! Hate drop, artificial ceilings... I think that they look cheap & they’re always getting stained & falling down 😔 Sad that the exterior brick can’t be saved & repurposed!!! Thank you for sharing this wonderful property with us Riddim, I loved it ❤️
Always weird to see your old workplace in an urban exploration video, but here we are. It wasn't even that long ago, it's crazy how it looks like it's completely fallen apart in the last few years since it's been closed.
Hello from palm 🌴springs! Omg I don't know how I missed this video! I almost missed seeing that sweet boy, Urbex Opie! 🐕 Interesting explore too! Lol @ pen*s graffiti Thanks for sharing ❤
I was a volunteer at Chedoke on the Information desk and I also spent a week in Chedoke when I fractured my back. I am also sad, Lise Leduc in seeing it in that state.
I used to volunteer and then worked in all 3 of the Canteens at Chedoke, the main one , Holbrook Building and the Evel Building. My dentist also worked out of the Evel Building.....all of this many years ago :). and yes very sad to see the decay and damage
With The two sided mirrors they are electrified observation windows, you turn the switch on and they become transparent. Great exspolre i love creepy old hospitals
It would be nice if thoes stained glass windows could be put somewhere else out of respect to the family that donated them . They are not cheap windows .
From the video footage captured of the hospital, a little bit there and here, the four storey hospital looked big. At 2:59 the views from the window showed partially parts of the red bricks wall hospital building overlooking a vast vacant land, likely undergoing development. On the right, just across the road, there were rows and rows of houses. The red bricks used to build the houses bear a stark resemblance to the red bricks used for building the hospital. Could be both the houses and the hospitals were built almost at the same time. Average looking hospital, maybe a little old for today's standard, but a reasonable looking hospital during it's time. Too bad it's going to be demolished, when it could be restored and converted as a CC (Community Center) to help, in giving assistance or aids to deserving community in terms of food, supplies, shelter etc. during this difficult covid epidemic. Thanks Riddim Ryder. An abandoned hospital is never complete without a touch of horror added to it. Actually, the hospital was full of incoherent and soft voices following Riddim Ryder throughout his explore. However, what was said was soft whispering, incoherent and hard to understand what was exactly being said. Probably, 'they' wanted it that way. Once 'they' decided to open up, this was what was captured of what the voices really said. Well! here goes: 1) At 3:00 a male voice said, "That's right," after Riddim said, he did not want to make himself obvious, because of the security around; 2) At 15:19 - 15:20 three tapping on the floor, followed by a boy voice who called out, "Uncle;" 3) At 15:22 - 15:23 a girl voice said, "Auntie, please;" 4) At 15:41 - 15:42 a boy voice said, "Help me;"
Do they know the power’s that be that a place like this could house all the homeless off the streets??? Very disappointed. Great tour i liked the dentist offices.
No one cares about the homeless. If people cared, they'd take them into their own homes and feed them and let them bathe. One might even stretch it out and clothe them. People say that they care, but those same people easily step over the homeless person in Toronto that's lying on a subway grate to keep warm. And they say capitalism works best. What a joke.
Hope that the 2 stained glass windows are saved before demolition! sad to think all those murals will get demolished :-( some one put in alot of time on those. Thanks RR and ZZ!
Another most epic adventure! The top floor was for children with behavioral issues. The reason why you couldn't see through was because the 2 way was not on.
Opie is absolutely gorgeous 😍😍 Interesting to see that the stained glass windows and virtually every mural were left untouched by the vandals. Although I did find the delicate French style moustache drawn on the young lass to be highly amusing 😂😂 Brilliant find as always 😊
When you peek out the window it reminds me of my elementary school (Sanford Ave Public School) which no longer exists. Wonder if you saw that place before it was torn down..
Hi. Enjoyed the video. Usually I find hospitals creepy but not this one. Always a pleasure to explore with you Zay and Opie. Still a cutie. That main floor was really dodgy. You would have to carry Opie. Too bad it's being torn down. Thank you for sharing your video and stay safe.
That’s what I really like, Hospitals. They are always spooky and so interesting. Interesting, because you never know what inside happens or what is inside. The long ways to the rooms, the furniture and so much more. Thanks for watching this 🙏
I worked security at chedoke from 92 to 94....the Evel was haunted as fuck...most of the buildings I patrolled are long gone...they were rich with history and spookiness lol
Opie is so darn cute. You will have to do a video of just opies adventures. I watch Sherpa,Nook, and K'eyush from the UK. It's a shame they will demolish the building. I wish someone would convert these places unto apartments for veterans. Be safe stay healthy
its all boreded up now i went to see it because its veyr close to wehre i live also my spelling is awful cus my keybored had water spilt on it cus i was drinking and lmao now my delete button doesnt work
Opie is adorable. I have a husky mix and he is quite vocal.Nice video.Funny how the vandals always draw a penis. They must have little penis syndrome. LOL THANKS for the history in your blog.
its kinda sad how this place ended up, but im glad this is its fate i remember this was where my therapists heather and dr mahoney worked when i was a kid after my father passed away they were the many reasons alongside my social worker who was in the lgbtq community and the damn eas at lawfield why i was sent to the special ed class instead of a real high school just because im autistic after heather left this place, it went downhill and like i said was the main reason why people even to this day look at my autism as me being a child in an adult body (which im not) after this place closed i was sent to st joes and they are even worst there a few times they called the cops and almost sent me to their psyche ward where i would have been their guinea pig for 3 days

I got diagnosed with ADHD here seeing the painting/mural of the disabled kids playing was a huge memory when I think back to this place
Had to go to this hospital for my whole childhood. This is crazy seeing this wow

Having spent way too much time with doctors and hospitals as a kid, this was like House of Horrors to me. :-(
I feel u I spent a lot of time here
Hard to believe I had my psychologist appointments here back from 2010-2017
New sub here ❤ really enjoying your hospital series ❤❤❤much love from BC Canada 🇨🇦

Love the diverse mural painting of the kids in the back!!
The sound proof rooms were most likely for hearing tests. The clinic where do my hearing tests has identical ones.
Ahhh interesting! Thank you
Those dental chairs and op lights are SO old. I have 34 years in dentistry, so they were old in 1987 lol

after my father passed away they were the many reasons alongside my social worker who was in the lgbtq community and the damn eas at lawfield why i was sent to the special ed class instead of a real high school
just because im autistic
after heather left this place, it went downhill and like i said was the main reason why people even to this day look at my autism as me being a child in an adult body (which im not)
after this place closed i was sent to st joes and they are even worst there
a few times they called the cops and almost sent me to their psyche ward where i would have been their guinea pig for 3 days
