Hi Kat!! I'm happy you have a pet crawdad!! Just a little trivia, they have to come out of the water sometimes. It re-hardens their shells. If you don't let him come out, he will die 😞That's why mine died. His name was Sebastian after the Little Mermaid character. Also, he will eat just about anything he can get a hold of. Mine loved bacon, yes, I gave him raw bacon. Try a piece of dog food and he will probably eat that up too. They all have different personalities as with tarantulas. Also, you can place your hands behind his head and he won't be able to pinch you. They are fantastic cleaners for fish tanks and fun to watch. If you put him in with fish, he will eat them if he can catch them, so watch out!!! Enjoy!!!!!! 🙂
The new crayfish is so cute!! I would maybe lower the water a level a bit and put a log or rock in that sits above the surface so he can get out of the water once in awhile. I had pet crabs once and didn't realize they needed to come out of the water occasionally, so every time they crawled up to the top I would tap them back into the water. Obviously they didn't last very long and I felt SO BAD when I found out why!😳

About a year ago he bought a lobster from a grocery store to give him a second chance, he named him Leon. I found his channel completely by accident and I never thought that seeing a lobster thriving in a huge aquarium would be so fun to watch. Those critters are really smart. Voilà, voilà ! Where it went south, was he pinned me in a corner trying to get me to hold her. I broke down, and had a panic attack that landed me in the hospital. Afterwards, the word spider would throw me into a fit. But I slowly started watching around the same time I started watching Ants Canada. I would start with just a few minutes. Now, I can watch multiple videos of yours, and appreciate your babies for their beauty. Thank you for helping me reclaim my love of gorgeous critters!

I used to keep crayfish and some are awesome. My one Clauss was friendly over time, I could hold him and let other people pet him. He got to be about 7-8 inches and lived 6 years. He loved eating cherry tomatoes and shrimp pellets. I had a large rock he could walk through but also get on top of so he can get partly out of the water if he wanted to.
Definitely keep the tank lid on with no gaps for Mr. Yabbie because they can "swim" to the top of the tank and pull themselves out, speaking from experience we have had a couple decide to go for a walk about, lucky they make alot of noise on titles so easy to find The yabbie and tank itself is beautiful
As someone who grew up catching crawdads, pinches never hurt. It was just a pinch. I just googled it and some people were saying they can break skin, so I guess it depends!
I once had a boring brown crawfish that after a molt turned a beautiful baby blue. I still don't know how it happened. She ended up escaping into my box turtle enclosure and became lunch, I was devastated.
Aww. I miss my crawfish. I raised mine from a little tiny baby. He lived for a long time and died of old age. He got huge. His name was big red and his gf was named Lacey. I hope your 'lobster' warms up to you. Mine use to love attention
You'll prob need a bigger tank for that crayfish. They'll get bigger and they need a lot of walking space. I keep one. They will eat live plants. Also, when they pinch you it won't draw blood but it does hurt
! not sure if you are already told this, but the bamboo-looking plants (yellow and green in the background) are not water plants, so you may want to keep an eye on them :) Also, he's so cute, I miss having crawfish, they're so personable!

I have a tank dedicated to my crayfish mama. She will destroy all your plants. My tank was a mature planted tank. 5+ years of planting and decorating. And she destroyed it within a month and a half. Fake stuff is much better. But we love her. 3 years old already this month

The reason for bubbles is that it’s expressing air trapped in its shell from being out of water. Totally normal.

My crayfish is called Leon, or LeLe. He or she (not sure) is a mexican orange dwarf crayfish. They are awesome. Enjoy
