  • The Dragonfly is a good summertime meal for many a panfish and young growing bass. If you have fished much in the warmer part of the year then you might have witnessed a bass jumping clean out of the water to snag the bite-sized snack dragon flying above.
    To take advantage of the dragonfly's appeal to the fish I tied up a pretty nice imitation on a #12 thin wire hook using old floating fly line, a little piece of foam and five hackle feathers.

    I've been thinking bout givin the furled leaders a try. Do they really help, do they spook the fish or are people just trying to sell them? What do you think Ted?

      If you need to present a fly to a finicky trout there is nothing that beats a well built furled leader.. I make my own furled leaders and have used a few of them on several fly rods. The only advantage I can see is they have virtually no memory and depending on what type of line they are made from determines how stretchy or stiff they will be, I've used braid and firewire line to make leaders that do not stretch and are stronger than the fly line itself. For the fly fishing I do down here in the south I just use straight 12 to 17 lb. test mono because presentation hardly matters to hungry bass.

    What kind of feathers are you using for the wings?

      I use to use plastic but found the fly would not cast well.. Now I use long thin feathers (anything I can find)

    can you do a vid on a furled leader?

      @FishTales-Reel-Life-Adventure  10 лет назад

      I haven't made a furled leader in a while but I did find my simple jig for making them the other day.. My rig makes leaders with the least number of steps using one continuous loop of mono.

    hi, take a look at this: Texas Parks-and Wildlife Departments Community Fishing Lakes (new) HD [full documentary] -- *somebody seems to have stolen one (or more?) of your videos* and put them on a clicktrap channel. Channels like that pop up on a daily basis...

      I don't know whether to be flattered or offended.. My concern is whether the views and the credit is applied to the original publish.

      you'll get your due reward *only* if you *file a copyright complaint* with YT. If you don't, the pirates rake in all the dough. Masses of these pest accounts thrive on original content as substrate on YT, I just found another. Seems to be a business model that pays. Cheap labor for download & upload, and decent bandwith are available in many places... This is the 5th time I come across such theft; among others, some of Uncle Steve's videos were stolen, too.
