I also found out that her Uncle Lewis, father's brother, died in the Battle of Bexar, 1835 San Antonio, and is buried someplace in San Antonio. I'm trying to locate his grave.

I am a big fan of President Grant, a very under rated president.

Fascinating. I'm directly related to Julia. Knew alot about her, but learned some more through this great video.

Her Uncle Lewis, her father's brother, went to Texas and fought in the Texas Revolution dying in the Battle of Bexar in 1835. I'm trying to find his graveside now.

Wow, what a great relative to have. U.S. Grant is one of my favorite Americans in our country’s history and Julia is responsible for much of his success. If she were here today, she would be instrumental in straightening out woman’s rights issues, just a feeling I have.

Would like to see the film footage made of Julia. Also the recording made of her speaking.

Would love to see that movie with Julia in it. Plus, find out if Edison made a recording of her voice.

I did not realize how much impact that Ms.Grant had on him.

It's sad, that because she was a woman, that her memoirs took 73 years before someone would publish them.
    Thank you for this.

I wonder if any of her family ever taught the young slaves to read? Somehow, I doubt it. That's really kind of sad.
