I never used a thorns merc with this build, however, for it to work on all the summons, it could be really useful, but my question would be: would it be more beneficial than a might merc for the additional damage boost to the summons off their attacks vs the benefit of enemies taking damage when attacking the summons? Ive never ran the numbers before, but its something worth checking out. I appreciate the suggestion!
I know its not a fully summon druid but recently ive been thinking about taking something out of the Sorc Uber's book which is to wear Harmony(RW) so we can use the revives for Uddars.I was wondering how strong it would be + all your other summons. Even wondered if i should make it as a 2nd char to the new ladder just to use it for uber killing(Only problem is why pick that over a Necromancer since without Enigma id rarely dabble into playing Summon druid unless its leveling in HC or something). Still id might pop into it but thats more in line for a starter build which might lack the gear you have.
Unfortunately I could not make a fully summon druid style build work, as the minions spawning and aggro-ing the zoo everywhere took away their ability to focus on the ubers they needed to kill, so I had to compromise with assisting them myself in stunning the minions to allow better access to the ubers. However, I also am not an amazing Summon Druid player, so that could also be a huge skill issue on my part. I have seen some Sorc builds using Harmony work, and aside from Urdars, if you dont have any source of open wounds, reviving some of the Spider Magus will help poison them long enough if you run out of Urdars, or want to use another revive type. However, like you said, if you really want to play a summon build for ubers, a summon necro is the way to go, it's easy to build up, has great potential to be very fast, and is quite safe overall since all you need to do is bring the revives to the ubers, curse them with Amp Damage, and watch them quickly die. I have an Uber summon necro build guide on the channel as well to see how it fairs compared to this summon druid.
cool video! I would like to try when I get a beast, you should try with a thorns mercenary!
