Greenpeace's own reputation also suffered during the campaign, when it had to acknowledge that its assessment of the oil remaining in Brent Spar’s storage tanks had been grossly overestimated. 3-5 people died durin the decomissioning too
Exactly, its a shame that the real facts did not surface until after the event.
You can still read it on the Greenpeace Homepage Germany ....they claimed there would be 5500 tons of oil in there. In the end they only found 75-130 tons.

Insulting each other achieves nothing. What you should be discussing with each other even if you come from opposing ideologies is how we can evolve as a species whilst protecting the beauty that is our home the earth.
Not 500. They claimed about 5.000 tonnes!
And every one of you including those of you that were 'out there' conveniently forgot that 6 had died on there in July 90 when an S61 came in to land and clipped its tail rotor on the crane, crashed on deck then proceeded to claw its way off the deck and dropped into the water...and still seem to have forgotten
There were no lies from those people involved we knew why we were there and if careful attention is paid to the campaign you will see that the only country where there was any confusion was the UK every other country understood the message. As for these textbooks I would like to know which ones so that I can challenge the authors over their unsubatantiated claims. Also in education you should be taught to challenge everything that you read as this adds to the sum of human knowledge .
@MillyVanillification Don't offend others, get yourself informed. Brent Spar consisted of 17000 tons of steel, containing 74,3-102,7 tons of oil. Greenpeace mentioned 5500 tons of oil. Greenpeace knew the true numbers. So the lie is very obvious. As obvious as you not understanding he was talking about "pollution" (oil) and not steel. Raw steel is not regarded as pollution -even not by Greenpeace. So maybe you should understand postings and know facts, before you're insulting others.
