Yes, been thinking on this for a long time too, your Video has made me decide to have to try this..great Videos of the wildlife you have over there. Regards.
Megapixels really is not what makes a video its not like Photography. Actually lower megapixels is better for low light video. What you need is a quality lens and good camera sensor. This was shot on an Sony A1 + 600F4 lens. I have never shot a ZV-E1 but I am sure if you paired it with the Sony 200-600 or a 600f4 you will get similar quality video. Hope that helps
You are so down to earth I love the practical advice. I bought a heavy Sigma 150-600 that I just couldn’t enjoy. Went back to Sony 70-350 on the APSC body and used clear image zoom. Better results, at least for me. I wanted full frame, but didn’t realize the weight until really trying it. Thanks for the great videos.
Thank you so much April for all the kind words !!! Yeah I am not a fan of the Sigma 150-600 myself. Glad you found something that works for you !!! Thank you so much for watching and your great feedback !!!🙂🙏
Do you engage Clear Image zoom or use the teleconverter first? I know both can be used at the same time, but if only one of them is needed which one has the best quality?
Great advice. With the Sony 200-600 plus 1.4 extender plus APSC plus 1.5 clear zoom....gives around 1890 when shooting in 4K while not as much as 2700 using the X2 its more usable in the often cloudy conditions here in Scotland. ND not required as that comes free courtesy the cloudy sky! My favourite time of the year for shooting birds is late Autumn and winter as we have lots of migrants that over winter here. Free from mating and nest building the birds appear to be a bit more relaxed with some species flocking making them easier to spot and producing some interesting visuals. Ive used Sony for a while now and have only discovered Clear Zoom just this morning! Im about to embark on a wildlife film project so the timing is excellent. What would you advise for getting the best out a Sony A7R5 video wise as regards movie and record settings? Also which PP would you recommend using for wildlife.
Thank you so much !!! I usually use 4k 120P 10 bit or 4k 60P 10 bit if I am using crop mode.on the A1 but fior the the A7r5 it would be 4k 60P . For Picture profile i personally like S-cinetone, i think works great for wildlife. Hope that helps !!
Thanks for Sharing you’re great tips. I know it’s early but might you have an opinion on the SONY RV with Sony 200 to 600 mm lens for shooting BIF. OK thanks again.
Great video! I own the A7IV & noticed that i can also enable Active Steady Shot for a 1.1x crop & if I record in 1080p instead of 4K, I’m able to use clear image zoom at 2x instead of 1.5x. Obviously 4K is preferred, but if needed the extra .5x might be useful in some situations.

Hi Dennis thank you for watching !!! I honestly do not recommend it for photography you lose too much plus you can only use it in Jpeg i believe. I am only recommending extra reach in video. Hope that helps.

Thank you so much !!! CIZ works for stills but unfortunately only in JPG . I honestly do not think the quality is very good for stills. I only recommend it for video.
with the A1 50mp and 30 pics per second, I have thought it would be great to use a lower shutter speed than you would for normal bird photos and take a few seconds of raw 30fps images and then crop in to your hearts contempt and export the images then stitch them together into a video and see how it compares to this
Thank you very much for watching and feedback 😊🙏I am sure you can get good results I have seen a few people do it. A few things though its a lot of work to do ..this is super easy. Also you will get much smoother video shooting at 4k 60p imo. Another thing to keep in mind while the A1 hit rate is incredible, you will still get the occasional out of focus frames you will need to leave out.
My A7riiia let's you go to 2x clear image for still shots, I've never tried it for video but it's probably the same as yours at 1.5. The only thing I don't like is that you can't change focus modes when using it for stills unless I'm missing something in the settings. Loved the redtail hawk with her chicks.
Thank you very much Martin for watching and feedback !!! 🙂🙏 I think i never tried it for photography because its disabled if shooting in raw. I believe you have to be in Jpeg to use it.
This is very impressive! I got one question: On the A1, can you use 1.5x crop mode in 4K@120fps or you just stick with that 1.1x crop with no clear image zoom like on the A7SIII, which I currently own. If I can get the A1 I'll push my hardest to, but seems even A7iv can be sufficient for 4K@60fps crop + CIZ to multiply my macro magnification by 2x or get closer to birds with the 200-600mm without losing light or using a teleconverter, which I should buy both 1.4x and 2.0x later just in case I needed that extreme reach.
Thank you very much for watching !!!😊🙏 Unfortunately you can't do the 1.5x crop in 4k 120P only in 4k 60p on the A1. I don't like using Teleconverters for photography too much but for wildlife *video* I love them . Using the Teleconverters along with clear image zoom made it possible to get that really close to the hawk nest you saw in video that was really far out,. When I shoot my A7iv I do find myself missing the 4k120P from the A1 in certain situations. Which is why I just picked up the A7siii to go along with my A1 😁
@@SamRino Yup, I'll push the hardest to get the A1, although the only flaw is the flip screen, no focus breathing compensation, now bird/animal AF in video compared to A7iv. But if I simply can't afford the A1 right now, I might just go with A7iv and maybe wait for A1 II with, hopefully, 8K@60/120fps and 4K@240fps!
Honestly the Bird/animal eye Af in *video* on the A7iv is not all that great . My personal opinion is wait and save up for the A1 . Its a do it all camera, I absolutely love it !!!
@@SamRino Rolling shutter problem in the A7iv alone deflates the motivation of moving animals/birds filming. Of course, A7iv is a big downgrade overall, but either would do good for now and might make some money and get an A1 as well! Thanks for the details.
Hi Greg thank you for watching. !!! Clear image zoom as I showed in the video is a mode you can enable in most Sony cameras that lets use an additional 1.5x digital zoom to any lens no extra equipment needed. So if you are using a 600mm lens and engage that you would get 900 mm for example. I use it for video only but it can be used for photography but only if you are shooting JPEG. Hope that clarified it let me know if you need more info.
It uses digital zoom to get 1.5x magnification it can be used in crop mode as well to gives you more reach. I am assuming you can't use it in raw because of the fact that its using software to zoom.

Elephant in the room - How far were you from the Eagle Nest . I do not even know what 2700mm focal length translates to in like telescope scope X zoom. 100x , 200x , 300x
I was pretty far away standing on a cliff looking down at the nest. Not sure what that would equate in telescope distance .But for a reference most lenses used for wildlife photography range between 400- 600 mm :) Btw that was a red tailed hawk nest not an eagle nest😁
@@SamRino It is hard to google focal length in terms of zoom comparison. as in like say 600mm is like a 50x zoom. So yea would be nice for you to gestimate about how far you were from nest. I honbestly would love to hope atleast 500 feet but i think i will be saddened by hearing like 150 ft only.

You talk to to much.
Glad you enjoyed it I 'll talk a little extra for you next video
I would say around 400-500 feet is a safe bet from where I was standing
@@SamRino Ok thank you , that makes me feel great then about the zoom characteristics of optical focal length etc then. For being 500ft away and had those birds up that close yes WOW .
@@Matt-xy6cfif 50mm is standard for FOV then 600/50 = 12x zoom from standard. Most phones main camera is 24mm equivalent so 600mm would equate to a 25x zoom on your mobile.
nice to see our fellow creatures. A AUPPOSEDLY THE HIGHEST FORM OF LIFE ON THIS VLUE MARBLE IN SPACE, WE MUST MAKE SURE THRY ARE SAFE.
if you use digizal zoom 8x, I think you will be equally amazed. - I have results, that make me think the figital oom is processing the file afzer CIZ has done irs work...the image is still remarkably clean. what do you think...try it and see. the equivalent FL real lens would need its own vehicle to transport it!, even if it could be manufactured..
its i the area of satellite cameras shooting a newspaper from space, ito a still readable standard. now available to joe puböic. marvellous. remember, the mayimum apeture is retained, throughout these metgodologies.
