Right? So tired of hearing "budget" when discussing equipment costing hundreds or thousands of dollars. Marcus knows what is truly budget gear and shows it off in-depth.
Yeah i wonder about all those podcasters using the most expensive Shure SM7B microphone and talking trash. Markus has mor money than all, uses cheap stuff and his content is value for us.
When Markus release video, I click. Even when I am not on the market for any of the products he talks about, I come to see if I can widen my perspective by learning from his experience and sensible methods.
i love this guys channel its so different than anyone else, it almost has an old school vibe to it like how photographers used to be in the 90s and 2000s
Marcus - I totally love your work and videos. Can’t even begin to tell you how much I’ve learnt. Your enthusiasm and confidence is addictive. My brand new Colbor 60m landed today. OMG! It’s absolutely stunning. Bomb proof build quality and super bright. One of my best purchases in years. Thank you so much for the review and recommendation. It is far too cheap for the quality. Keep up the great work
With it being so hard to travel (on planes) with lighting, I just never did it. Looks like I can travel with actual lighting! My on-camera flash has let me down so many times. Thank you again!
Markus, your channel is ONE BIG SOLID for Photo/Video people like us! AND this is THE BEST LOOKING video in your entire library! (except of course the ones with Kara in them, ha) Well done buddy......well done! Bo
Once again, you nailed it. I bought the Sony RX100 vii on your recommendation and have never regretted it. Needed mobile lights while in London for a shoot and stumbled across this. I was about to order the Amaran lights but like the Sony, glad I ordered the Colbor. Excellent bit of kit.
👋🏼Hey Markus! I notice a few days ago you surpassed 100,000 subscribers.🏆 Congradulations! 🎉I've been hoping you would achieve this milestone. In the past I was wondering how come you were only at 78k and yet you had such great content. Marina (Hot For Words) and our team studied the YT algorithm for years and still haven't mastered it. Clearly your formula is working. Keep it up! 🙌🏻
THANK YOU!!! These may be just the lights I've been looking for! My wife is a yoga instructor and we record and live stream her classes from an area in our home that's 8ft. wide x 8ft. high x 17ft long. Obviously NOT a lot of room to rig proper lighting. I've DIYed and cobbled together some fixtures from bits and pieces that are working and we've been getting by with that, but she deserves better so I've been looking for a way to up our game but still stay on our budget. As soon as I hit the comment button on this comment I'm heading over to Amazon to check these lights out. Thank you again for these videos! Without you doing them I would probably have never been aware of these little lights...
Well I have to get you and Kara to forgive me ... when I first saw your thumbnails I thought you were some GWC ... but now having watched several of your vids, you are sharing really helpful information especially for a beginner who wants to experiment. Thanks!
I wanted to comment that what I like about your videos is that you have a great DP helping you out! Cara makes the live video so much better than a typical RUclips tripod and boring studio setup.
As always, an honest review with all the information we need. Always fun, thank you Markus. And a new way to measure noise levels! "Cara breathes louder than this thing" Hope you guys stay happy and healthy for a long time to come.
if there ever was a ZERO BULLSHIT channel on RUclips for photographers this would be it. Jesus Christ you deserve a lot more subs! I bought a Zhiyun molus.. WHAT A MISTAKE, the battery stopped charging in less than 2 weeks used it like 6 time in that duration. I was happy with the Amaran, I will try this out next.
Markus, thank you for making this video. This is definitely something I need. I just ordered it. I truly appreciate you, your knowledge, experience and passion for photography. I’ve been following your videos for a few years now and I always find your content informative and helpful. You absolutely light up my life. Please keep making videos and enlightening us with your talent. 😀❤️👍
You're the best we all appreciate you and your wife you guys are great it's nice that we get somebody who can test all the products because it can get very expensive to do that
One of the Amaran lights that I ordered would not turn on. After emailing Aputure, it was suggested that I mail it in and I was given an RMA (return authorization) number. I was told that as soon as I provided the tracking number, a new one would be put in the mail for me. As soon as I provided the tracking number, Aputure quit responding to emails. My defective unit was received at their headquarters in California, but it was not repaired nor replaced. They just kept my unit. It's quite bizarre. It makes me hesitant to add any more Aputure/Amaran lights to my Amaran 200X knowing the unit may be stolen from me if I ever send it in for service. The Colbor CL60 looks interesting.
New Sub. Just stumbled upon your channel and love your perspective on life, after binge watching your videos last night. I have been wanting to level up my lighting but don’t have a ton of space in my bathroom for my shaving channel. This little guy might work well with a umbrella. I think I watched 15 videos last night in bed. Some of the contact creators on RUclips just want you to buy the most expensive stuff that you really don’t need. You point that out very in pretty much every video. 👍 Thank you much
Love these. I just blew my budget on the stella pro lights. Which I am not sad about but dang these are nice, small and soooo affordable. Thanks for sharing friend.
📌 Hi Markus, Thanks for another great video review. You currently show the Cobol in 2 videos and because this info is quite important for other prospective buyers, I'm posting this comment for both. I mainly bought the video light because of the USB option, because connecting it to a power bank seemed ideal to me. I already had enough video lights, but without a USB connection. However, no USB power bank works with the Cobol, because it turns out to be no ordinary USB. This is because it is a 20-volt USB connection and to supply it with 5.2 volts, you need quite a few amps. Fortunately I bought the model with a V-mount and I think I will buy a V-mount battery. These are quite expensive and that is why I have to look closely at which model it will be. A small disappointment perhaps, but fortunately there are many possibilities nowadays and there is a solution for everything. You will also lose your money if you are not careful. BTW it's great to see the enthusiasm of you and your beautiful wife. Because of this I have to watch out, because the temptation is great for me to buy too much. In addition, Amazon quickly increases prices after your video and the pricing in the Netherlands is already about 30% higher. Thank you for all your wonderful videos and tips. It always makes me very happy and it is a pleasure to watch. Warm regards from the Netherlands. 👍🏻🙋🏻♂️
For more stability you are better off putting the v mount battery as low to the floor as possible. Less likely to tip over than mounting it on the light making the whole structure too heavy.
Heck yeah that's what I was thinking. Even mount them to the cross beams that connect the legs to center pole, like where one is supposed to hang sand bags.
Excellent Vid! I’m actually using the Stella Reflexes but this is a great back up! Also Markus I recommend the Hawkwoods BP-98UX. It replaced all my v-mount batteries.
@@MarkusPix Don’t laugh. I literally just use a double c-clamp for now. I tried using a c-clamp with a quarter screw to ball head to a bpu plate but … they loosen over time. And when I try the clamp straight to a BPU plate it never aligns and still loosens… so right now I’m just double clamping them until I can find a more compact solution.
That's the problem with those BPU batteries, the'yre missing a v-mount. A CameTV mini 99 is almost the exact same size, has a v-mount and is half the price of those Hawkwoods and even comes with a cord loop to hang on light stands www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1607011-REG/came_tv_mini_99_mini_99_lightweight_battery.html/?ap=y&ap=y&smp=y&smp=y&lsft=BI%3A6879&gclid=Cj0KCQiArsefBhCbARIsAP98hXSuE6Z-Xs8u0K4YqK89XvLugBLtq0OklaZuSgeQKiY5pxx9SrIUmpMaAqs7EALw_wcB
@@MarkusPix excellent find! Ya that’s the exact problem. Almost no one makes decent mounts for them. Which is a shame cuz all my Sony gear runs off em. It is what it is. It’s so hard to keep up now everything is getting smaller cheaper and more powerful. So… now I have to look into these now lmao.
Maybe some can help on this. I got the unit and I like. I tried to use few different portable chargers that I have and the unit will Not power up. Does is have to be a specific power bank ? I did order the V mount and batteries.
You can buy cheap smartphone clamps which have hotshoe mounts on them. If you get the right size power bank this could be an option for a cheaper and lighter power setup than a v-mount. Overall the Colbor seems like a really versatile light. Thanks for the review!
Thanks Markus for another review. I don't quite get why you need that rail system when multiple lights won't fit in a softbox or reflector. Who want uncontrolled 3 naked lights in a row or 9lights in a matrix? Also how would you power all of them together? 9 V mount batteries or 9 power banks dangling around? They should have a combined power cable and power adapter sold separately for 3, 4, 9 lights, even a special soft box or umbrella reflector to accommodate those lights. at least you can have a neat solution.
You can easily get a rounded power strip with multiple Usb-c receptacles to power multiple lights. After all, they are very low power lights, just like old incandescent bulbs when consuming electricity. What's the big deal about? They are not old Tota 1,000 watt lights. Remember that!
Just got mine today. Shooting some product photography and I am finding the light is a little green. All lights off except for the CL60R. Camera set to 5600K- Shooting in raw. Tried different light outputs. I shot a Xrite Color Checker Passport and brought the images in Capture 1. I need to adjust the tint from -1.4 to +1.7 to get a balanced gray. So I am wondering if I have a defective unit?
When you showed us the modular capability of this light, my mind blew up. Even if the cost of the CL60 was more than the Amaran 60 it's still a better deal because of it's modular design. Stacking lights is super useful if you need more lux. CL60 being powered by USB-C is super useful. I can use the same power supply for my laptop to power this light. It's like the old saying of Murphy Law, If something can go wrong it will. The Colbor lights give you options when things go wrong. Markus, I'm like you in that full daylight is the best and if you need CTO just gel it. That said, I really like their RGB offering. I love working with colored lights to enhance the backgrounds on indoor shots. Sure I could just gel it but haveing an RGB light saves me from having to pack and mess with jels. Thanks Markus for doing the research so we don't have to blow a ton of money trying to figure all this out. Your reviews are better as many that I have seen online because you buy them all and compare. Then when something new comes out , you compare all of them again to see if they still hold up.
I like the RGB option very much. The problem is they the RGB model is out of stock everywhere. Rvrn the standard model is king of short supply. If you can get one of this beauties, get it fast 'cause who knows when they will be available and most likely the price will be getting higher. I ordered one yesterday (the daylight model) and maybe I should order one more.
I've had 4 x of their Bicolour 60s for some months now, and 2 x of their Bicolour 100s too.. now looking to get the RGB versions too.. They pack a punch at night filming for LIVE TV News ..
Question… I run a Photo Booth business. Lighting is everything for us when we use our DSLR cameras or iPad camera (digital booth for boomerangs). In the case we use our iPad digital booth (no flash, iPad camera 12mp), and the app does allow white balance, iso, and exposure adjusting, what other stand or battery could be used for lightweight and transporting. The battery you display is huge. The light stand is great but doesn’t match the decor of the Photo Booth. Any other suggestions or links of other batteries and portable white light stand?
Markus - love your channel and your reviews and ideas. I borrowed a friend's COLBOR CL100MX for a shoot and the lens got broken. I replaced his light, and now I want fix the broken lens. Do you know either how to get replacement parts, or where to send it to get it fixed? It works fine - other than the broken lens.
I've tried using hot shoe mounts but the ones I have don't get a good grip, It seems the light uses the NATO rail standard. I just wish the included mount had an umbrella holder.
Hey Markus,Have u heard of Godox Litemons LC30D? I wanted to see your take on those vs these Colbor Cl60's? I saw that they had more Lux at distance and they can be rigged up for d tap to v mount battery but no USB c power that I know of.
You weren't lying. The price on Amazon was jacked up immediately. It went from $108.20 to $129 on Feb 20, EXACTLY ONE DAY after you released this video. I was interested in it but I'm not touching it until the price goes back as it's about a 20% increase because of the public interest. No way.

Hey Markus, can you do Full Auto Shootout EPIC Superzoom cameras Compared?
Excellent video! Bought the light! Thanks
Could you please post the links of the two adapters you used to get the colbor mounted with the umbrella?
Great, was looking for something affordable. Thanks!
Quesiton, what's the EV number? You always share it. Did You measure it?
I've tried using hot shoe mounts but the ones I have don't get a good grip, It seems the light uses the NATO rail standard. I just wish the included mount had an umbrella holder.
Hey Markus,Have u heard of Godox Litemons LC30D? I wanted to see your take on those vs these Colbor Cl60's? I saw that they had more Lux at distance and they can be rigged up for d tap to v mount battery but no USB c power that I know of.
Godox Litemons LC30D is about as bright as a candle lol. You would need half a dozen of them to match a Colbor.
Rail-Mount is great for big softboxes. Sturdy?
Great review and video! Thank you do you have a link to the tiny cold shoue mount that you are using? I noticed that some of mine are too small
You were right. They raised the prices.
Hello my friend! Love the COLBOR. Where did you find the hot shoe adapter that fits that. Standard is too narrow and pops out of the slot 😮
I can't find where I got it either. If someone sees one like this, let us all know
@@MarkusPix no worries I made one a little wider! Thank you for working on this you are the best man!!!!
Markus is a damn pirate finding treasures🔥
Thank you Markus…I m looking for affordable light and found your video ..❤️it
You weren't lying. The price on Amazon was jacked up immediately. It went from $108.20 to $129 on Feb 20, EXACTLY ONE DAY after you released this video. I was interested in it but I'm not touching it until the price goes back as it's about a 20% increase because of the public interest. No way.
Did you check the AliExpress link in the description box?
As usual great review☺️ can you tell us what are you using for hair light on this video?
I might have to buy a couple of these as gifts.
Now this is the perfect travel light!
Hi, Markus.
Can't find the cold shoe/hot shoe mount anywhere.
Which one do you use?
Thanks in advance.
