- Part 1 - Getting to Abergavenny and the Cyclemotor Run
So a group of us had agreed to meet up at 7:30am in the bloody freezing cold, on Easter Sunday to ride to the traditional Easter Sunday Cyclemotor meet at Abergavenny, Wales and to hell with the fact that the cocks went forward an hour in the night.
Boldly leading the way I got us lost by taking a wrong road just near the Racecourse which immediately put our less backroad bikes into a quandary or a least splattered in mud.
Got to Aber went straight to the Bus Station Cafe for tea and to relieve ourselves before arriving at the Castle Car Park to meet the rest of the riders and, sadly, only one cyclemotor seemed to be taking part.
As usual, as the run is designed for slow, less powerful machines it was rather short. There was a bit of a commotion at the beginning as Rod appeared to think we had gone the wrong way but soon we were back on track.
At the end, we English riders split with each-other, some to indulge in a slap up Easter lunch at Wetherspoons while we, the remainder, prepared to meet the challenge of The Gospel Pass, to Hay- on-Wye.

@RobLittleuk
Really enjoyed that one Rob. Brought back lots of memories from 40 years ago when a group of us used to vist Wales regularly to watch the Lombard RAC and other rallies. The view from Aust Services, the B road from Usk to Aber and the great T Bones served up by a man named Eric with massive sideburns in a cafe on the other side of the road from the Cattle Market (does it still exist ?) Fond memories. Great to hear your dulcet tones again.
Ha ha.... (dulcet tones) !! Not sure about a cafe opposite the cattle market - not even sure the cattle market exists?
@@RobLittleuk I think you are correct they are both no more sadly
@@graemebowyer4901 way of the world
I think Morrisons is on the cattle market site. Don't think the Morrisons café does T-bone steaks, though.
@@rickmancr No - its a decend breakfast though
Good video Rob, the audio was nice and clear, hopefully all sorted. Looking forward to the next video.
Still a work in progress Frank
A great run out. Fortunate with the weather AND dry roads how unusual! F382 seems a bit of a sidesaddler Rob 😂 Dave K 👍⭐️
Twas indeed a good day both for weather and social. As for the size saddler if you and I are riding at his age we might feel awkward. Guess how old he is…🤔
@@RobLittleuk over 80yrs? 🤔
@@J_BONDMI5 87 - i recon if we are still riding at 87 we might be equally uncomfortable !
@@RobLittleuk Rob he has my complete admiration!! Hats off to him 👍💯✅
@@J_BONDMI5 We all love him !
Some ideal vehicles for Welsh speed limits 😊
Spot on !!
Hi Rob great to see you all going out together, something for you all to look forward to.
Following your earlier video inviting others to join you all. There's nothing I'd like more, however, living in Yorkshire presents more than a challenge.
Always enjoy your videos.
Sadly if you came you'd be on the wrong bike! But you could always male a weekend of it?
@@RobLittleuk Hi Rob, that's a good idea. I might take you up on that.
Nice wee run out to Abergavenny, and then the real run out, nice collection of bikes and decent if not cold weather for your run.
All the Best.
Exactly !!
It's always a help when the navigator knows where on the route he actually is... 😉
Yes indeedy Chris - by the way i did note your photo appear briefly on the Friday mutter - TAYM seemed to have forgotting his script at that point !!
@@RobLittleuk Yes, I had a bit of a chuckle to myself and sent him a reply saying where it was. Have also sent him a couple of before & after photos of my 1970 Jawa 350, so maybe he'll include them next time.
@@chrisweeks6973 He's a nice chap !
Brilliant Rob, my kind of a bimble with a group of mates. We were in Abergavenny 2 weeks ago trying to find the Copper Kettle at Skirrid for lunch, got lost and ended up having lunch at the Bus Station Cafe😂 Part two, over the Gospel Pass?🤔👍
The bus station cafe must have been a particularly tasty place for lunch - NOT !! If you watch Part 2 you will need to be patient as its mostly real-time - nearly an hour ! More designed for people who have never done it before.
We seem to see more and more small capacity machines Rob i really enjoy my 125 Monkey bike and find that I use it as much if not more than the NT1100 it’s just so user friendly 😊lovely ride mate thanks for sharing 👍
Yer welcome !!
Audio appears sorted Rob? Great little group you involved with. I had to smile at your comments regarding 20mph speed restrictions. Our last government in NZ had the same mental approach, road to zero they promoted. No different, just a joke.😅
Audio not really sorted Chris because it’s direct from camera not inside helmet but this cam pics up speech better than the GoPro. And you can hear the bike which is good? Next vid on Wednesday be warned is an hour long drive up and over the mountain I know not all will have patience for that !
Gosh ! all those portholes on the roads.
If you really want to see potholes, watch the next one !
So the camera van on the road from Usk to Llanfihangel y Gofion wasn't there just for bikers going to the (now closed) Steel Horse café after all!
Well they'll have been disappointing with us roaring past at 28mph !
The Pan European is in the large cyclemotor class I expect.
Marginally !!
What a great bunch , really enjoyed this , ride safe 🤟
