I'm a single mom. My little boy has a cold. My heater went out late at night and it's the middle of winter. I got nervous and wanted to make sure the apartment was warm for my little guy. Thank you for helping me. This was a really helpful resource.
I always come back to this video and I love how everything is well explained. Thank you so much you’ve saved me so many times from struggling on turning on my heater.
Woke up this morning to a cold living room. I guess the light went out during the night somehow. I forgot that I needed to push in the dial and hold it for 30 seconds. Thank you for this video, saved me a lot of troubleshooting time.
Omg thank you so much.. just got back from a 38 day trip and it was so cold.. I couldn’t get the damn heater to work.. I also didn’t want to look like a helpless woman but I got it now and it was easy to follow thank you so much
Thanks for your informative video in lighting the pilot light of our wall heater. You explained the step by step instructions very well. Before I used to call the gas company to light our wall heater but now I can do it by myself because of your video!
Thanks! The general idea helped a lot. I didn’t need to hold down on mine. Nor did i have to ignite it. The little flame was already running. All i had to do was move a little knob that ranged from 1-5 and it turned everyone on
Thank you SO MUCH! It's freezing, I was scared but it worked, first attempt. Thank you for the repetition, close up of where to light and wonderful video!
You saved me!! I am a freezing female who suffers from raynauds and other illnesses and I couldn’t figure out that the pilot was the button I press in. I kept pressing the red button to the right. ❤ thank you!!
Probably should mention you should vacuum out accumulated dust and cobwebs first. Can be stinky and potentially cause a fire if there is a lot of dust bunnies. Thanks for the video!
This saved my life! I’m in a rinky dink studio in LA with these dirt old heaters. My pilot doesn’t start all the time. I think it’s just these crappy heaters but maybe mine especially. They came to “fix” jt 10 times in the last month. They even replaced the whole unit but it still goes out! 😡I just had to learn myself bc I’m tired of the repair guys running through my place and having to text my building manager. Thanks for the help!
quick question, does gas leak out when you turn the pilot light off? I turned mine off for summer, however am now worried if there is gas leaking into the air and causing a breathing or fire hazard.
I followed a step by step of a different video I saw on RUclips but when I went to turn on the heat on the thermostat and checked back on the flame it was bigger (as this video showed and I freaked out! Shut off the gas thinking it wasn’t normal for it to fire up that large) I’ve never had a wall heater and was terrified it would blow up or something. Now that I see the flame IS supposed to get large when the thermostat is set, I’m going to try again 😰.
Mine is just like yours, except the entire thing is angled upward to where the letters on the dial are facing directly upward, so I can't see where the dial is dialing to properly; and the little pipe to the pilot disappears behind a sheet of metal and I can't see there to properly light it either.
Ive been trying to get my wall heater to work. My pilot light stays lit. itll fire up sometimes. The flames will go for a few minute then its gone. Does that mean its working? Not the pilot light but the flames.
The pilot light has a tube next to it that seems to have burn marks, a small blue flame around it, plastic peeling off..is this normal?? I had my co alarm go off when the heater has been working all day.. I called the gas company but they won't come till monday..any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Thank you so much for this video, "How to Light a Wall Heater." I literally wanted to call my dad or pay a neighbor but due to the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.... everyone is out of town or out and about. So it's up to me and I'm happy to find your video. You spoke at an even pace, you also provided great visual as you explained/demonstrated the process. Thank you again! #SuckAtHandymanStuff #ThankGoodnezz4RUclipsrs #NotADIYKindaGal

Great step by step instructions 👍🏻👍🏻 I’ve never seen this type of wall heater with gas at the point of use, only electric so far, pretty cool though

Great video I turned mine on finally but my house filled with smoke did I do something wrong??
Someone turned off the gas to my heater during the summer. Is there an additional switch to turn on gas flow? It's chilly here in SC.
Thank you
Thank u sooooooo much
Do you recommend turning it off if yes how so to turn it all the way off for the summer? It's currently on and on pilot
Is there any way I can attach an inline booster fan to push the heat out

I want to turn mine off for summer, do I just turn off the pilot light, or do I need to turn off the gas too? Thank you.

Thanks! Will you be doing a thermocoupler replacement video as well?
Yeah great idea!

Lol you said at 1:14 light up the water heater.
So what if only the pilot stays on but nothing else happens ?
