This is a honest experience: i have tested both 134a and 144a in a number of Airsoft guns, most but not all of them being japanese guns such as Western Arms and marui. In conclusion, 144a seems much less consistent than 134a, meaning after shooting several bbs in quick succession you may expect cooldown or at least fps drops and sliding issues in contrast to 134a. Indeed, chronoing japanese Pistols with 134a results in remarkably less FPS than when using 144a Gas, but the Performance and Gas efficiency is Just on Point with 134a Gas. This becomes most evident when using a full Gas Magazine with 144a and slowly emptying it to the Last shot. 144a Gas is often Times unable to lock the Slide back while interestingly 134a Gas can and will do so until almost the last Shot. All in all, 134a is still the perfect way to go for when using japanese GBBs; If you want to go for a higher FPS, most of the time Predator ultra gas can be safely used and works even better than 144a gas.

HFC-134a is 1,1,1,2 tertafluoroethane but what is "144a"? Is it a refrigerant like R-134a? Hydrocarbon? I've seen nothing about an R-144a chemical and I think that it is an airsoft-specific term.
It's true, actually 144a consists of propane and butane just like Predator ultra does which in fact is weak Green Gas. 144a is even weaker Green Gas and is nowhere near comparable with 134a gas since they are totally different.
