For example, the design they chose for Sonic the Hedgehog on the American promotional art and box art (specifically on the Genesis/Megadrive) was a little too different from his original Japanese design, and I really don't like it. Heck, his Japanese design was already Americanized, so the change was unnecessary! It's the same way I feel about Japanese Crash Bandicoot: completely unnecessary.

Not all of the music and character designs are changed anyways in those releases and I know a lot of Japanese players who look fondly of the Japanese design of Crash. Thats why they gave him the name "Fake Crash" for the easter eggs in the American releases.

As someone who's more familiar with USA voice actors, you'll be happy for me to tell you that there are plenty of JP voice actors that do deep voices like you hear with Uka Uka. There's a Shenron voice comparison video to give you a headstart.
