One thing missing from this that he gets his ass beat. He barley survives fights and needs help. He’s not come unstoppable force. Which makes him one of us.
Great to see you back Eric - hope all is well! Another knockout video! When I saw the thumbnail, right away my mind went to the first couple of minutes where we see Indy step out of the shadows. I don't think there's been a more impactful character introduction in all of cinema - absolute mastery! I think another element too is the supporting characters, especially the baddies. They also have great introductions on screen, and we can tell these guys are dangerous and the mean business, further building up the tension. The one captain in the caravan that climbs out to 1v1 Indy after his men are taken out... you can tell Indy's met a near equal match and he really struggles to overcome him. Heck... he struggles through the whole movie and it's just through sheer grit, courage, resourcefulness, knowledge, and a little luck that he just barely gets through it alive.
@@Ericthecameraman - it just hit me... that captain only lost because he lost his hat, otherwise it would have been 50-50 odds, lol! And the big mechanic at the plane takes his hat off before the fight. A subtle bit of foreshadowing along a common theme perhaps, or just a coincidence that I'm reading too much into? I'm sticking with it being on purpose and appreciating the scenes even more now :)
Another great vid, Eric. The Last Crusade is my favorite Indiana Jones film, by miles. Two very brief scenes always stuck in my head. The first, is when he shoves the flagpole into the spokes of the motorcycle being driven by one of his pursuers. The shot that follows, showing the bike flipping impossibly high into the air, was just awesome. The other one, was the shot of Indy on the tank, moments before it went over the cliff. The camera zooms (dollies in?) on his face, the wind takes his hat, and the expression on his face shows why Harrison Ford is such a talented actor. Anyway, enough musing from me. Good job, once again!
Also my fave Indy film. I loved the chemistry between James Bo- er, Sean Connery (RIP) and Harrison Ford. I loved the humor, the tempo, the canon established for Indy first acquiring his Fedora and whip use and outfit inspiratio, etc. (I swear, is it Vic Armstrong playing "Fedora" in the opening flashback sequence?) And, of course, the best lines: Henry, Sr.: "I didn't know you could fly!" Indy (Harrison Ford self-own): "Fly? Yes. Land? No." And... Grail Knight: "He chose... Poorly."
Good to see you back. Great stuff! Always enjoy your concise explanations and this gives me even greater appreciation for the Indy trilogy, some of my favourite films. Honestly, can't imagine anyone else in the role.
Funny, the sunset scene in Raiders was shot by Lucas with a second unit.
The guy just has a knack for sunsets.
He certainly does!

Great point! He’s not invincible but keeps getting up

Thank you so much! I just might; gone back and forth with including bg music to mixed results
@@Ericthecameraman I'll email you a draft
I liked the original movie's. Not the final one.
Now do one on how to destroy an iconic hero. Never mind, we already have that in Kathleen Kennedy's work.
Just might be the next one if Indy 5 goes the way everyone says
I disagree
Prove it
