Love that moment when Clark winks. He's obviously aware of it. But he understands Bruce's intentions- and agrees. Both just want the world to be a better place. Gotta admire that

The reason why we love quoting that line is because it’s very ironic. The fact that Batman denies he’s a good person makes him a good person. It exemplifies humility & self-discipline. Good people don’t think well of themselves, and tend to compliment the goodness of others. It’s the opposite of hypocrisy. The irony of Bruce’s line makes it memorable to us.
Bruce is just one step ahead of everything huh he did the NightFall protocol and he will always serve Gotham now

This really was like a fight between brothers. Neither of them were actually trying to kill each other, they were just fighting for their respective causes.
not always, not every brother
I want you to remember that, in your most private moments, I want you to remember the one man that beat you.
Such a badass quote from THE Batman
seems like something the Doctor would say
Edit: almost exatcly what the 11th doctor said when he was talking to all the aliens about the pandora's box at Stone Hedge.
Thats y he's the best
Although technically it was Green Arrow... LOL.
Also, I think one reason the BvS fight here is better than the movie is cuz of the intentions of each. Bats isn't actually trying to kill Supes; just keep him distracted so his plan works. Supes is also already in a weakened state from the nuke and the requisite effects blocking out the sun. He therefore relies on a "power suit" capable of doing some damage to Supes before resorting to kryptonite. The movie sort of tries this but it's completely ineffective, and the fight is reduced to Super stumbling around crippled while Bats uses him as a punching bag.
@@nahor88 Green Arrow was still Batman's plan/idea. The one who plans is the one who takes the cake.
⏸
Bruce, we seriously need to talk about the “mentoring youths but refusing to give them pants” thing.
They can get their own pants. Nightwing, Red Hood, Batgirl, they all got their own pants.
@Hexon 105 that's on Dick Grayson. He modeled the first Robin suit off of his circus outfit to honor his parents and then Jason kept it that way. Not sure why this Robin didn't put pants on since i remember that Tim had pants...

This is a great example of how, with enough time to prepare, Batman will defeat anyone, because he thinks his way through. He knew that Clark would pull his punches to avoid killing, but he didn't have to do so himself. It wasn't a matter of power, it was a matter of preparation.

What I suppose is chilling, is Batman's new followers. They remind me a lot of the henchmen that used to serve his villains. I suppose when they say "You either die a hero, or live long enough to become the villain," it isn't necessarily because you become a villain. It's just that society labels you one, because they do not want to change.
Well batman was already hated by everyone outside the batfam who isnt a superhero or jim gordon
@@tahsinsameer6393 I'm always going to love "batfam"
so true.
It does seem thematically relevant. I mean now that he's 'dead' by all official counts, he can't go on carousing as Batman. Even if he wanted to, he's kinda getting too old for it, and the stress of that fight with Supes probably aged him another 15 years. What better way to spend his retirement than to open up a school for wayward goons he probably broke the teeth of at some point and do what he couldn't do as Batman - help rehabilitate them and carry on his legacy.
....Which makes it slightly unsettling that the new Robin is a cute ginger chick.

Superman holding back at every turn, batman "I want you to remember the one man that beat you"

If he wanted, he could have thrown the Kryptonite himself, but he wanted to give Archer the revenge he wanted...
@@douglascephas546 I still find the scene of Batman muttering his challenge under his breath while alone in the middle of a field and a response being immediately laser eyed into the ground in front of him out of nowhere hilarious. The end of a beginning and the beginning of an end...... Truly an awesome movie
The film was very faithful to the comic. Very well done.
I love that when Clark finds out Bruce is still alive and looks at Carrie he gives her a little wink as if he was telling her not to worry and that he won’t say anything to the government. Even now as a weapon for the government Clark is still above all things a good friend
Bruce decided to follow Ollie’s advice.
Hans Zimmer's Dark Knight theme fits so well
I like that Dark knight rise Ost with the dark Knight returns that should of been the theme for real.
This film was literally the 4th installment of Chris Nolan's batman's trilogy fr. In the end of Dark Knight Rise, bruce retires and we see in this film batman came back from retiring
No, Batman supposedly dies at the end of “The Dark Knight Rises.” He doesn’t “retire.” In this universe, Batman hasn’t been seen or heard from in ten years, and Bruce Wayne is a lot older. This movie was based off of a trade paperback from the late 1980’s. It’s a totally different universe and story line.
Loved this edit, you made it so the score fits so well. Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard’s score truly is a masterpiece.
There was a reference to this in Arkam Knight well sorta.

I like the touch of Clark winks and the music intesity kicks in.
I knew this was edited with the soundtrack but damn son, you nailed it
Smirking the moment he knew he's been played he always respected Bruce for his intellect he's the real super hero with all the limitation he still does it
As Bruce explained the effects of the kryptonite would wear off and he would survive. By faking (Bruces) Batmans death this released Clark (Superman)from coming after the Knight. Then the heartbeat later at the funeral let Clark know that he didn't die from the older Bruce fighting him and Clark wouldn't have so much guilt feeling and everyone can move on with their future works. Both Superman and Batman can continue their journey for justice.
except he isn't working for justice. the simple fact that the President of the US just sent superman to kill batman just because he manage to restore order after a nuke strike. THAT should be impeachment right there. Superman should have refused heck the military should have refused.
With the music crescendoing, that was beautifully done
To me, the part that hits most is when Alfred sees the album of the family for the last time. It was sad, as he knows everything about the Wayne family is about to end, even the Batman himself. Alfred has been a dedicated butler of the family, a second father to Bruce. All that has ever been saved, rebult is about to destroyed again. It is too much for him. It is why he dies from a heart attack. So tragic.
the soundtrack on this magnificient piece is just so legendary and so extremely batman. i just hope that it returns in some way or another in either a batfleck movie or a battison movie.
Battinson is doing its damnedest to be separate from everything else. However, a Batfleck movie... it could happen if it had the right story writing. Especially, since Hans Zimmer created the MoS music. It would be fitting to bring his Batman music back as well.

For those wondering. The Dark Knight Returns Parts I and II is THE BEST COMICBOOK to film adaptation ever. 10 out of 10. It hits all the right notes. Does all the right things.
Voice work is top notch. Peter Weller gives the late great Kevin Conroy a run for his money in voicing Bruce Wayne/Batman.
The pacing is well done. The plot is almost shot for shot from the comic book.
The musical score could hold it is own against some of the best. Such as Star Wars and Indiana Jones.
On a side know, I view Under The Red Hood a 9 out of 10 only because the ending was not as tight as the Dark Knight Returns. But, it is a close second to DKR.
