I just saw the video and I would like to say thank you. Good preparation and presentation. I Am 48 yr and I started to use Oxelo before 3 months with my children. It's very lovely and enjoyable. If it's possible to prepare a video about how to ollie or jump on sidewalk on the streets would be very nice. Thanks again
I tried to make a video, to discribe how to ride the Unicycle. It'sa mouthful to get out. You did a very good job at verbalizing it. Good theory. Thanks. From : Toronto Canada. G.
There’s a caster board that has four wheels, it has two wheels on each half that are in line with each other. You can’t really do tricks with it but I lend it out to people who want to learn because it gets double the strength when you pump it and it’s a lot more stable going over cracks and bumps. Just though someone here would be interested.
@@benjwicker it’s called ripskate, you should be able to find it if you search that. It can work without the middle part, but the middle joint doesn’t really feel different when you’re riding it except for the fact that you can turn the board in weird ways. Supposedly you can ride one of the halves of the board by itself.
The StreetSurfing Shark Attack is a nice Hybrid of Casterboard and SurfSkate. And I still think the best Casterboard for pumping and cruising was the Timberwolf Cruzor with 4 wheels in-line. RipSkate and Xlider are also great, next I will test an old WhipTide.
i just purchased a ripstick with 2 wheels at the back and a space deck. But i can't find ANYTHING about them online, no videos. I dont even skatwboard i just thought they looked fun for summer to try learn with my stepdaughter.
Luke Somers exactly you can hold it sideways and throw your wight from one rail to the other all the whole time and generate extra speed instead of just standing there
1. Stick your leg out behind you. 2. Spin around...stop! 3. Double take three times! (1, 2, 3) 4.Then...Pelvic Thrust! BUT- stop on your right foot; don't forget it! 5. Now it's time to bring it around town! 6.Then you do this! Then this and this and this and that and this and that and this and that and this and then! Boom! Do you get a beginner friendly casterboard by putting a longboard truck on the front? Casterboards can get speed wobble if there isn't enough weight on the back and your going over a rough surface.
I just purchased a space deck and ripstick with 2 in back. But I've never skateboarded. Just looked fun for summer to have a go on. But i cant find anything about either online..only seen the usually 2 wheel, 1 each side ripstick in videoa etc.
Hate to break it to you but there is really no way. You just gotta either wait till you slow down, or go left and right so you can slow down. Or just in general don’t go downhill
Yes and no. First off they wouldn't fit so you'd need a custom bracket. once you solved that and got them on there, then yes that would work. They'd have to be centerset wheels though. Initially you'd have a similar problem as with having an axle with two wheels, but the longboard wheel would quickly wear down until it was rounded out.
I'm going to have to disagree with you about speed wobble on a normal longboard or skateboard. if you let either board roll over the crest of the hill with its own inertia you would see the board isn't wobbling and will glide down the hill. This is because it is the rider that is wobbling; the faster you travel smaller motions are needed to achieve a change in direction. imagine changing lanes at 100mph on the freeway over 60mph the amount of force needed to change lanes is much less while traveling at 100 then it is at 60. The same principal is true here but in this case slight changes in the riders footing and balance start a sort of snowball effect gradually increasing until the rider is pitched if not controlled. Speed wobble can be greatly reduced even when riding looooose trucks simply by getting into a proper speed tuck and keeping your legs and thighs tight to absorb the vibrations just like shocks on a car. :)
The reason a board without a rider wont wobble down a hill is because it doesn't weigh enough. Add 100 lbs to a board, and move the center of gravity up a bit, and you'll see it wobble on its own.
+Longboard Technology again it is the rider that is wobbling not the board. weight of the board wont cause wobbles only a weight Placed upon the board that is not properly distributed and balanced will cause wobble at speed. all the changes you mentioned aspects of the rider not the board. I laid it all out in my first post, maybe re read?
***** Perhaps if one rides it on their hands and feet: with one appendage for each quadrant of the deck. Also, the deck would have to be pretty big to accommodate someone riding using their hands and feet.
I've seen some ripsticks with a memory of position, like a memory swivel, do you think is it only for stability or it would help to conserve the energy? What I'm trying to understand is if the memory of position in a carver (that get thanks to his spring) his a matter of giving stability or also a need to reuse the energy of your swing. Damn, I tried all this stuff, but I don't have it with me to test various configurations. From your video I get that the inclination the plate by it self is actually giving a sort of light memory of position to the wheel. Thanks for sharing your ideas, we are a small audience, but is great to get input to work on other ideas.
okay this video is hurting my brain i thought you would have had some common seance and known that the trucks on a skate board/longboard are very different you can't even compare the 2 and you can still get speed wobbles on a ripstick and fucking tighten your bloody trucks there no point in having bushings if your trucks are that loose...have a nice day :)
you clearly have no idea how it works because most of the things you said about turning and movement is wrong. sliding your feet in the same direction for movement will work but is less effective than alternating your feet back and forth. for turning if you do turn too hard with both of your feet pointing in the same direction (up or down) the board will skid, turning them in opposite direction will accomplish a tighter turn than a wider turn that is done when both feet are in the same direction. it is kind of like snowboarding the same way to turn a snowboard is how you turn a ripstick. also in the video at around 12:44 I can clearly see that you throw your back foot outward causing the board to skid. and clearly by watching this video there are 10 things that YOU don't know about Ripsticks
Every year I read more than a Dozen stories about kids young and old getting killed while out boarding. Somebody died a few days ago, 10 MPH and they slipped forward and smashed their forehead.
boy you be lying! try bombing a big hill and see what happens... i have and speed wobble does happen on a ripstik. probably still got the scars too. also trying to snake the hill doesn't work you just keep speeding up in a straightish line.

the only thing I know about caster wheels is that they are pretty gay.
Excellent explanation. I appreciate your understanding of physics and mechanics and supporting your experimentation in everyday language.
it pivots around that pivot....lol

what is that string for?
Fried Chicken i wonder if he has a potato for a brain
Take a shot every time he says pivot
i was gonna type a coment “j dare you to coubt every time he said pivot”
Don't know if someone posted, but you should look into freebords, the perfect mix between coaster and longboard.
I ride ripstick downhill and cant wait to try the 2wheel in the back to get some longer slides! Wish me luck thanks for the idea.🤙
Would be cool to see what somebody who can actually ride ripstick can do.

What where the string for on the longboard and why was it so loose
Sorry I hadn't watched the whole vid when I left this comment
Its a Cruiser board not a long board
To rest it on your back
Very informative. Thank you!
What about a comparison with a surf/skate board, like carver, smoothstar etc?
great video, by the way what's the main difference between a whiptide and a ripstik?
My Caster board would wobble at very high speed, downhill. Was controllable, but my wheels were pretty fucked up too
The main difference is that the skateboard has 4 wheels and the ripstik has 2 wheels
how should I tighten the pivot point?
Can a adult ride the mini ripstik? Or should they get the regular one ?
Just want to know how to slow down going down hill without taking too much space to stop

Abec 11 Flywheels.
thanks and btw did you do the grooves onto them?
I've slid on a ripstik. I started to brake my old one, and I suppose my dad threw it away. This Christmas I'm getting a new one

My buddy can do small power slides with a rip stick. gotta go kinda fast and squat down with arms forwards. I can't do it though, he's just an alien.
as a waveboarder, i can assure you that thats true, i go to the skatepark often too
What is your longboard deck
jon Flanagan it’s called a cruiser deck
great video, very informative, thank you.
You Should Put a sponge on your camera microfone that way theres no anoying sound from the wind
Sponges aren't all that effective. you'll still get wind noise... you need a "dead cat".
Do they break plz reply
I've not seen any get broken, but I suppose it depends on how hard you ride it. If you take it to the skate park I'm sure it won't last as long.
what board is that wood one
Wait...wait a minute...
Are you saying it pivots on the pivot because that's the pivot?😏
Why were your ronins facing in the same direction?

they are wedge/dewedge with reversed rear trucks. That would suck to learn after surfing for 20 years... lol

if there was 2 separate casters on each end for a total of four wheels it would still work as intended?
Um...
If it did, you'd have to do something pretty clever with it.
+werdwerdus Maybe if each wheel was independently suspended on its own? Similar to a car's independent suspension perhaps?
+Nick Amarit yes each wheel independent
***** Perhaps if one rides it on their hands and feet: with one appendage for each quadrant of the deck. Also, the deck would have to be pretty big to accommodate someone riding using their hands and feet.

you clearly have no idea how it works because most of the things you said about turning and movement is wrong. sliding your feet in the same direction for movement will work but is less effective than alternating your feet back and forth. for turning if you do turn too hard with both of your feet pointing in the same direction (up or down) the board will skid, turning them in opposite direction will accomplish a tighter turn than a wider turn that is done when both feet are in the same direction. it is kind of like snowboarding the same way to turn a snowboard is how you turn a ripstick. also in the video at around 12:44 I can clearly see that you throw your back foot outward causing the board to skid. and clearly by watching this video there are 10 things that YOU don't know about Ripsticks
