  • Earl Spencer has said he welcomed the findings of a report into the BBC’s handling of his sister Princess Diana’s interview with Martin Bashir, but believes there are still "very big questions" that remain unanswered.
The inquiry concluded this summer that the BBC fell short of "high standards of integrity and transparency" over the 1995 interview between the late Diana Spencer and journalist Bashir.
Her brother told BBC Breakfast some at the corporation had behaved in a "truly abysmal" and "possibly criminal" way.
The BBC stressed it had apologised.

And for her brother to take her in he would have had to evict long standing tenants who were actually farming the land and paying rent which helped Althorpe survive at a time it nearly had to be sold and had many debts. Diana was always falling out with people and cutting off her closest friends over imagined slights. She was very wealthy in her own right and could afford to buy any number of homes anywhere in the world......she had fallen out with Elton John too not long before her death. And for her brother to take her in he would have had to evict long standing tenants who were actually farming the land and paying rent which helped Althorpe survive at a time it nearly had to be sold and had many debts. The Earl had to find ways to pay the debts and keep it going so he sold some of its art works and treasures which paid for much needed repairs and upgrades. He opened it to the public for a fee and he rented to farmer tenants which helped pay the debts. You are being unfair to him.

As to what caused this tremendous fear and insecurity in the princess, Why was it not addressed ,? After all, she was the mother to the future king and heir to the kingdom ,where in hindsight, this drastically driven step ,brought the consequences of a divorce which forever altered her life, sending her discarded towards her untimely death,in her quest for the longed love and security of a relationship which was denied to her,
Was her life and role so easily replacable, conveniently as history has shown..

They're talking about an interview which Diana did with Martin Bashir in 1995 for Panorama, a documentary programme produced by the BBC. As you are unaware, I'll give you a bit of background. In this interview, Diana revealed many things that weren't public knowledge such as, that she was unhappy in her marriage with Charles, he was having an affair, she was having an affair and that was committing self harm.
Recently, however, it was revealed that Bashir used deceitful means in order to get her to do the interview. Basically, he got a graphic artist who worked at the BBC to fake some bank statements that showed a transaction between a newspaper group and one of Earl Spencer's (Diana's brother and the guy in the video) secretary as a way of gaining the trust of him and his sister.
      Hope this helps.

They need to be responsible for Diana's actions??? Did Diana lack capacity when she embarrassed herself? Truly we entered the age when no person is responsible for their actions.

Lady Di did not embarrass herself. She brought love& light into the world.

Princess Diana did not embarrass herself. She spoke the truth. The "royal" family might have been ashamed at the revelations - as well they should have been, and should continue to be.

The bbc should be made accountable for what they did to poor Diana. They’ve rode on the coat tails of the reputation that they once had. Now, they are a disgrace with no reputation to speak of anymore.

Need attention? Say,”Diana, Princess of Wales”. Bam 💥. He uses her name when needing a lil spot light on himself now and then. Only Diana has the true heart in that family.

I applaud Lord Spencer. To lose his Sister so tragically still must be so gut wrenching. Working quietly behind the scene to never forget or give up searching for the truth; pays Diana the homage she deserves. Excellent

Amazing that such a rich family can't afford a sofa and they had to sit on the stairs. I'm tempted to start a Gofundme to help them get somewhere to sit.
