    Thanks for the info. I liked the tip about the light green leaves are a sign of needing nitrogen.

    The best fertilizer I’ve found is Epsom Salt, bone meal, and calcium nitrate. You can foliar feed calcium nitrate if you need to.

    I have some young fruit trees,peaches and apples. This summer I built a mulch ring around them. Underneath the mulch ring I put a cup of 5-10-10 and a half a cup of Epson salt and a little borax. This fall I will give them a good dose of Milo. What do you think? In the past I have given them a good dose of Milo and a sprinkling of 10-10-10 from my rotary spreader. My peaches produce wonderful peaches (Heart of Georgia) in good quantity. My apples have not borne fruit, yet. Hopefully next year. (McIntosh & Honey Crisp)

      hahahah - how was the Milo last year 😉?

    • @johnclarke6647
      @johnclarke6647 Год назад

      @@mtyrer6432 Milo is always good. It add micro nutrients to the soil. I like Scotts Turf Builder, though. Lime and Turf Builder are my favorites. I live in an area with a granite under layment. That makes the normal Ph of any soil about 4.5. I do several applications of peletized lime a year. I roll the yard at 5 on my Scotts big bucket rotary spreader. 7 if I am tired. I roll lime in the fall and early spring.

      @@mtyrer6432 we had a bad drought this year and I lost one apple tree and almost another. My peaches were to small this year due to the drought and a late cold spell. Hope next year is better.

    I have Peaches on my peach trees what can I spray on them to keep bugs off?

    • @GaryHeilig
      @GaryHeilig  5 лет назад +2

      That could be a complicated conversation, depending on what part of the country you are in. Organic or conventional?First insect spray should be on by the time the petals fall from apple flowers. Imidan is a great (fairly low toxicity) insecticide.It is only available in 4lb bags. I am working on a series of presentations on spraying fruit treebut they won't be ready in time for this year.

      @BrianBerriosOne 5 лет назад +1

      @@GaryHeilig I will look forward to that presentation. Just planted 3 trees and have plenty of old apple and pear trees that I'm experimenting with. Massive neglect on those trees.
