I guess one can argue you should be rewarded for more power moves considering it’s an Olympic sport. More people can do artistry and dance compared to training as a true athlete and setting yourself apart from the masses. Common gymnasts and everyday athletes cannot do these moves, and that’s the way it should be.

@@hiphopandpop actually even the US gymnasts in those days (I am particularly talking about Shannon Miller, Dominique Dawes, etc. and not the unfortunate girls who were starved and forced into an eating disorder) who were powerful, were also artistic and elegant. That's how American gymnastics has evolved, powerful skills but compromising on execution and artistry.
And I'm glad about it. The dancing stuff is almost always boring. Imagine they’d force men in MAG to dance in speedos. The outrage would be fun and it would hopefully make people realize how sexist gymnastics still is.
