Thank you a lot for the amazing review 💛 you are absolutely right about the "module of discovery" and we are working on an FW update! And the sound of rain should be in every video 🌧
FM is all about indexing to me. I almost always have a VCA in between the modulator and the actual audio VCO. Anyway, this seems like an awesome module.
Nice review Robin And, a superb demonstration, - I feel like I've personally just spent 40 mins playing with the module myself, thanks Your initial description makes it sound like the 303 of Frequency Modulation, - which is its self just one giant sweet spot, - which is probably why so many love the 303, - and after watching the entire video, I feel your use of the term Sweet Spots, quite accurate. I'm not a big fan of FM, I had a DX100 in the early 90s, and really only ever used the Wooden Piano patch, and edits of said patch, just for that solid techno bass tone. Recently I've been considering the Korg OpSix, just to get some digital textures back into my sonic arsenal, but this module sounds, and appears, much more fun and rewarding. Thanks again, much love - E - aka corrosiveabuser
Nicely done. I've had my Pizza for a couple months. I was looking for a complex oscillator and didn't have $600+ for one of the usual suspects. I have the outputs often routed into a Bastl ABC mixer. They make a nice complement. I find the Pizza delivers. But one question: what is the button or touch-plate in the upper left for?
@@MoltenMusicTech WHY? It doesn't do anything. Just received my Pizza today...finally...!!¡¡ I kept pressing that flat round thing you guys are speaking about however, nothing happened. I turned every knob at the same time my finger pressed on that touch-plate as well. Pressed my nose to it and even used an elbow but still nothing. Then I began to study it- only two seconds staring at it I figured out what it is .Bastl people are intrinsically comedians creating Electronic Sound Devices. Let's just say the Bastl Bananas have found a way to see what each person will be doing with their Pizza Module once it's been delivered and actually "turned on" after being installed. Sneaky Eurorack People will have no where to hide from the eye of BASTL... You are more than welcome to continue tongue boxing your Pizza. I'm sure Bastl will continue to thoroughly, enthusiastically enjoy every minute of it. Lick Lick !!!♥️🎶🤖💥👁❗
Love the sounds you were creating with the Pizza! Especially near the end when you ran it through a Delay. Was that an Erica Synths Stereo Delay ? Lush digital Soundscapes...💡🎶🎛👏🏽🔥🤖❗
Hey Robin, me again… Mr. Animoog Mess! 😂 Another superbly entertaining and informative video! Bravo. So no midi interface questions this time around thank god… just more of a taste query. I too kind of feel your love/hate with FM, but those sweet spots on that Pizza are downright tasty. So I have a very small modular unit I’m building, trying to steer clear of going completely broke on eurocrack. Looking for on additional voice to supplement my rich Moog analogue oscillators… and it’s between this Pizza and Plaits (I’m sure you know it). Thoughts? Opinions?
Hey you! We’ll you can’t go wrong with a Plaits. Everyone has one, lots of sounds, lots of choices. I had one for a while and got bored of tapping through the oscillators. I actually prefer it in the Arturia mini freak, within the context of a synth. So while Plaits is very versatile I prefer playing with something designed to be a bit more focused. But most people would go with Plaits - safe bet.
Calling it "Pizza Gate Comet Ping Pong" would have been hilarious. With a big Q shaped pizza graphics and original pizzeria logo. That would be epic marketing.

Great video, this one! Makes me miss England - especially with the rain! Thanks Robin!

Anyway, this seems like an awesome module.
the fizz round the edges is most def a bonus. 100% pure gritty goodness. i cant wait to get this thing paired up with my FSS gristelizer modules.
Lovely review. Loving my Pizza and Ikarie. May need to round it out with a Basil…
'tis a beautiful thing. Thanks for reviewing. I have been on the lookout for a new and interesting sound source and this certainly fits the bill.
Nice review Robin

I had a DX100 too (but in the 80s)! Used it a lot, created a load of patches without really knowing how it worked - i just synthesized :D
Great video thanks, very informative. I'm very tempted to buy one for myself.
Pizza is awesome! FM with thoughtfully curated constraints
My gawd Robin, that’s a lot of noodles you are serving up with pizza! Great Vid!
Man, that's cool. I have been considering this for my small Eurorack setup.
cool vid cheers, im not getting any sound from MAIN OUT. any idea what could be the issue ? i tried contacting Bastl but no reply
all good it just needed a reset !
dang digital things

tongue interface
@@MoltenMusicTech Initially developed as an anti-theft mechanism, the tongue interface proved too popular.

Looks awesome!
I want to know what the hell the white circle to the left of the pitch knob is for. 😂

Lol. Yea that just sold on Pizza. Your comment about being bored flipping through the presets on Plaits is exactly what would happen to me I’m sure.
does this just have a built in VCA so you can just directly feed it triggered envelopes?
Sort of - a VCA is an option under the Ctrl Knob but i've never used it as such.
It sort of goes all the way from pineapple and anchovy to sausage, onion, garlic, garlic and garlic, dunnit? And I mean that in the best way possible.
what is that scope setup? i want it. Thats perfect.

I love hearing the rain.
Nice review, but what is the "Motion MTR"?!?!
Coming soon
Where did you get your ZERO gravity Pizza?
A little place just inside the Tannhauser Gate

FM synthesis always sounds harsh and unmusical to me,,,and west coast synthesis,,,both unmusical.
Did you find any of this musical?
@@MoltenMusicTech not as bad as expected,,but still,,something about the sound man,,,
