I'm pretty sure you dont have to learn Kanji in order to make a model kit, the instructions are very clear on what pieces to use and how to put them together!
No, they're just some more detailed clear stickers, but they look pretty nice. I'd get water slides, though, just to keep the details from coming off too easily.

Are these stickers or water transfers? The end product is looking really good!
I think it's origin stickers. The edge of water transfer would not be obvious to notice because it is very thin.
