ঢাকা শহর থেকে যদি একদিনে কোন প্রাকৃতিক মনোরম পরিবেশ থেকে ঘুরে আসতে চান তাহলে গাজীপুরের চিলাই নদী সংলগ্ন বেলাই বিল হতে পারে ১ টা দিন কাটাবার জন্য আদর্শ জায়গা। বিশাল জলাভূমিতে নৌকায় করে সারা দিন ঘুরে বেড়ানো আর জেলেদের মাছ ধরা দেখা।
ঢাকার কাছে যেসব বিল রয়েছে, এর মধ্যে বেলাই বিল রূপ-সৌন্দর্যে অনন্য। এর কোনো কোনো স্থানে প্রায় সারা বছরই পানি থাকে। তবে বর্ষায় রূপ বেড়ে যায়। বিলটি আট বর্গমাইল এলাকায় বিস্তৃত। বাড়িয়া, ব্রাহ্মণগাঁও, বক্তারপুর ও বামচিনি মৌজা গ্রাম ঘেরা বেলাই বিল। ৪০০ বছর আগের ইতিহাসে বেলাই বিলে কোনো গ্রামের অস্তিত্ব ছিল না। খরস্রোতা চেলাই নদীর কারণে বিলটিও খরস্রোতা হিসেবে বিরাজমান ছিল। বলা হয়ে থাকে, ভাওয়ালের ভূস্বামী ঘটেশ্বর ঘোষ ৮০টি খাল কেটে চেলাই নদীর জল শেষ করে ফেলেন। তার পরই এটি বিলে পরিণত হয়। স্বচ্ছ টলটলে পানি! খুব বেশি চওড়া নয় চেলাই নদী, তবে খুব গভীর। বিলের চারপাশে দ্বীপের মতো গ্রাম। বিকেলে এই বিলের চারপাশে অপূর্ব দৃশ্য তৈরি হয়, সঙ্গে শাপলার ছড়াছড়ি। শুধু চারিদিক তাকিয়ে থাকবেন। আবার কিছুক্ষণ পরপরই বাতাসের ঝাপটা লাগবে গায়ে। বেশি সময় নিয়ে গেলে অবশ্যই খাবার নিয়ে যাবেন। সকালে ও এবং বিকেলে তাজা মাছ পাওয়া যায় এখানটায়। আসার সময় চাইলে কিনে নিয়েও আসতে পারেন।
ঢাকার যেকোন স্থান থেকে চলে যান শিব বাড়ী বাসস্ট্যান্ড। সেখান থেকে রিকশা বা টেম্পোতে কানাইয়া বাজার। কানাইয়া বাজার ঘাটে সারি সারি নৌকা বাঁধা। দরদাম করে উঠে পড়ুন। চাইলে নিজস্ব গাড়িতে টঙ্গী-পুবাইল হয়ে কানাইয়া যেতে পারেন।
