I watched a few of your stop-motion plastic army men movies; those are really great, totally cool. Here's just an idea you could try out if you want: way back when I made some stop-motion films with my models, and using a super-8 film camera, this is how I'd make an 'explosion'. I'd get a length of plastic hose, like maybe fuel hose size or so; I'd run it under the sand and have one end under the sand where I wanted the 'explosion' to happen; the hose would be buried so that it wouldn't be on camera, and the other end would exit the sand off camera. At the correct moment, my helper would blow a puff of air into the hose and there you have it: the 'explosion' as the air blew the sand or dirt up. Of course, then we'd always have to have a sacrificial tank or vehicle that would 'catch' on fire and burn away. Anyway, those are great videos, excellent work, I love the gun-flashes and sound effects, no way I could do that in the old days. Thanks for posting, very entertaining.
I'm not into doing Stop Motion but I love watching your stuff. I host a livestream show every Monday at 8 pm est. Would you be interested in coming on sometime and talking about how you set everything up? Thanks
