PLEASE GUYS USE 100% human hair for the loose curls if you want this style to last. I had to find out the HARD way because no one told me, do NOT USE SYNTHETIC CURLY HAIR IT WILL NAP UP!

Did these on my daughter and we used the mixed blend hair, it’s way cheaper then 100% human hair and all she had to do was spray a little water to detangle once in a while. She has had them in for almost a month now. Great video!!! Thank you for sharing.

You should use human hair for the curls. I’ve been doing bohemian box braids since I was in high school. (1990s) Back then they were selling the good human hair that was easy to curl. I recently started using the Freetress hair because it’s so much cheaper. The downside is that hair wears down twice as fast as the braid. It gets tangled and starts to look matted. Also don’t bother with the super glue. Just get some plastic rollers and roll up the braid hair and dip it in hot water. The hair will be curly.
so what human curly hair do you suggest?
If you spray some water on the hair and put a little leave in every few days is doesn't get knotted. I kept this hair in for 1 month with no problems.
@Nandi leave enough of the ends unbraided, use perm rods in the size of your liking, and dip in hot water as you usually would to seal ends. For the loose curly hair throughout, if it's smaller amounts, freetress should be fine. Jamaican bounce curl may even work also

I agree the human hair works better! I've had mine for three weeks and the ends still look gorgeous!

I use mousse mine are okay with freetress!!! Just have to wear a bonnet...
Tekeysha Sullivan how did you keep them in good condition use freetress I’m on day 2 and my hair is knotting up.
Kiara B use moose on the loose hair and then make sure you wear your bonnet to sleep in, I would probably use a shower cap as well

I have mostly the same technique except, I keep all the crochet hair in a clip. Then when I’m done braiding, all the crochet hair is out the way and I dip the braids. It may be easier and faster then putting super glue on each braid. I hope thy helps.
Couldn't you just get box braids then strategically place the curly hair with a tiny crochet needle? Then when the hair gets sketchy just replace it with more hair?
