I spotted Jimmy Duck Holmes from Bentonia Mississippi 🎸 Home of Skip James🎸 He owns the Blue Front Cafe in Bentonia 🎸 I spent three days with Jimmy in May 2022 learning to play Bentonia style🎸 Crossnore tuning in open D Minor🎸Jimmy treated me like a son🎸 I really enjoy your channel 🎸 You are a great teacher🎸 I wish you continued success from Greg Goulds in Johnson City Tennessee 🎸
Just found your lessons by accident. Love this type of music and I can see by your smiles and enthusiasm you have a deep love of it too. Thanks for all your lessons.
Another great Vid! These are so joyous compared to everything else. That Boyce number is slightly less wild, restricted, than Burnside who always sounded like he was about to fly off the handle if you let him.
Harmonica master Jason Ricci played with RL Burnside as a regular band member for a long time. He has videos on how to play hill country style and recommends listening to Blind Owl Wilson of Canned Heat for some hill country harp inspiration.
Another meaning of "breakdown" in blues is a song so stomping & rocking, the dancers break through the flooring of a barrel house. Don't you let nobody tear yours down.
Thank you very much for this groovy one! To me it´s just a little bit more flowy to add a low E on beat two, especially when the tempo is getting up, just to keep the flow and timing of the riff. Don´t know if your up for suggestions, but if could you check out Nat Myers - Ramble no more? I would love to have a breakdown of it! Anyway, thank you for your work and effort!
The player with the tan ball cap and green T-shirt is Jimmy 'Duck' Holmes from Bentonia, Mississippi. When not touring, you can find him at the Blue Front Cafe.
Love this, and the way you break this down. I have a question for you, what model of taylor guitar are you playing? Body looks a little thinner, that is why I'm asking. Sounds Great! Thanks!
Great Lesson like always! At @6:04 it seems like you can barely resist to dance :) Have also to mention, that is pretty awsome, that you always include the metronome. Not a lot of youtube-teachers do that, even its the most useful tool to get better/increase groove!!!
The hill country blues lessons are awesome. Well done. Great lessons and teaching
Again a great lesson, thanks from France
Thanks! 😃
Love that you do these Hill Country blues vids, RL is always one of the most exciting players if he's on.
I'm a bass player who just bought a cigar box guitar specifically to learn this kind of music. Your channel is gonna be huge for me

Love that “Build Method” detail and all your other timing tips.
What a great series of lessons you have put together for us! Keep'em coming! BTW, what was Mr. Boyce's signal chain? Thanks.
Excellent, a good teacher. The build method simplified the process, and the slow tempo is what I learnt best with .

Pretty much same as RL Burnside "Poor black mattie"

Thanks thats what I thought but I didnt want to say the wrong name.
How did you learn all the music you do on the guitar? Where did you get for example the secret of this song for example. You play it wonderfully
you look super .. "stoked" in the first ten seconds ;)

RIP RL Boyce
We are lucky !!!!
That looks like an east top blues harmonica 008k.
This sounds a lot like poor black Mattie or maybe some other RL Burnside song. Is this like standard hill country rhythm.
That's my Dad 👋
Wow cool! Thanks for watching and sharing that!
Which model guitar do you play? Back and sides mahogany?
DO YOU KNOW JESUS ON THE MAINE LINE
Dude stole RL burnsides name and his jumper man on the line riff.
