Benjamin Matson So that just means it's gonna be REALLY GOOD or REALLY FUCKING BAD? Apparently he's only played the shittiest and the best games of the last 5 years.
Honestly I just instantly fell in love, the game looks so amazing. I love how you can control an army , while still having your own character as well. Plus you can have three friends. FUCK YESSSSSS!!!!!! I hope they let you customize your armor and colors as well. Maybe even add some other warriors or guilds in the future for dlc. I am so excited!!!!!
MikeMadness|Journalist Man think about it, if they added other factions like the Persians, Pirates, Barbarians, Romans, Native Americans, Zulu/African Tribes, etc etc .... New and unique weapons with every faction... The chance to customize your army the more they gain expierience.. Shit, they could add different game modes, like a 6v6 siege assault. or a Protect the General... The possibilities are endless on what they could do to this game
VictorKane115 I'm still far more interested in this than I am in the obvious lie that is the Division. For one thing it's an entirely new IP. But I do feel that Ubisoft will end up screwing it up.
I imagine fucking everyone will be playing samurai because of how much everyone loves the fucking katanananananana. And I'll mop the floor with them with my two handed axe. oh and 2:06 he halfswords for that final strike (that is a historical technique, to grab the blade and smash your enemy with the guard and pommel, primarily useful against armor) or maybe it's just trailer flair and the game won't have that, who knows.
JustSomeGuy I dunno, with the popularity of shows like Game of Thrones and Vikings, I was actually thinking Samurai would be the underplayed faction. We'll see.
JustSomeGuy Probably just for the trailer or a finishing move at best. Game like this, types of armor will probably have resistances/weaknesses to types of attacks. You give a blunt attack to a heavy bladed weapon and people will be screaming "HAX" so loud you'd think they were Sony Pictures Inc
stuff4ever Don't worry, we'll at least have this game to play if this game sucks, that is if we play this game, we might be too busy playing Fallout to even acknowledge this games existence.
Will there be any DLC factions? I would like to play as the Ottoman Empire, Chinese, Egyptians, etc. (may not be accurate with the setting). There could even be an ancient warfare DLC, with the Spartans, Athenians, and Persians.
Martín Mendoza oh wow another person whining about ac unity. I really never got all the whining about that. I got my copy at release and never had any of the glitch issues that people complain about all the time. Sure combat was more difficult but I actually LIKED the fact that my enemies didn't just line up for me to kill them one by one with repeated blocking and parrying moves.
Darkgeasss Then I think you are the only one, I personally got bored of the game, combat is not bad but it got repetitive and dull quite fast for me. Respect your opinion anyways.
This is unbelievable Knights Vikings samurais all of them going up against each other what can I say they're both brave warriors I feel like I should get this game
***** How the fuck did you make that conclusion? Seriously. Obviously one was in a castle, other one was on some cliffs another one in a forest. I'm really curious how one makes that conclusion.
***** I just watched some gameplay and I take back everything I said, this game is its own deal (not a clone at all)! It has a beautiful combat system and just looks like a fun time overall.
So many huge franchises sequels, prequels and remakes announced that I barely noticed this one title. But then I gave the gameplay trailer a go and this trailer a go... WOW ! I AM MORE THAN IMPRESSED ! The gameplay looks VERY PROMISING !
Shlycer The combat was far from realistic in this trailer, plus there were women fighting. If you're interested in realistic combat look for Kingdom Come: Deliverance
MrAlphaMyr Reminder that this is just a pre-rendered video, we don't actually know whether or not there will be half swording in the game, we can't possibly tell if it'll be realistic or not and much less compare it to Chivalry.
DonCrazy92594 Oh ok, really sorry for making that statement without checking, just went to see the gameplay and oh boy, it's not much different from what I thought it would be; Far from realistic combat. And interestingly enough, Chivalry seems to be much more realistic than this game.
Victor Hartmann They can't cut through steel armour, it is literally impossible. They would shatter on impact because they were so rigid thanks to all the incessant folding needed to make Japanese pig iron (iron of an incredibly low quality) actually usable.
Hate to see the katana slicing through chainmail like butter. Chainmail was specifically designed to prevent cuts and slashes. Even if you tried to stab someone wearing chainmail with a katana, it most likely couldn't do it. Many "battle ready" katanas were very flimsy and couldn't stand or properly deliver the strike without breaking or bending.
If they decide to put more playable warriors as DLC. Which ones would you like to see? For me I would like to see the Spartan Roman Centurion Ninja Persian Immortal Any Native American Warrior (Apaches, Comanches, you name it) Rajput Mongol Ming Warrior (though if you guys have a better fighter in history that can represent the Chinese then that'd be great)
***** I don't know, just some general Egyptian soldiers from like the age of Ramses II or something. I find their weapons intriguing like the khopesh, also the fact that the soldiers wore next to none protection. Also another cool one to see would be Rome or Spartan soldiers
qwerkaz I am pretty sure that Ubisoft will add more of these guys in the future. Besides the ones you mentioned. I'd love to see the Ottomans, Rajputs, Native Americans, Africans, Chinese, Aztecs, and Mongols make an appearance as well.
I know Ubisoft has had a questionable track record lately, but I'm willing to drop $60 on this to support such a badass new IP. I'd love to see new factions added as DLC later on; maybe something middle-eastern inspired, or Greek hoplites/Spartans.
Armour seems to be undervalued as per usual in gaming and movies. Plate armour was damn effective chaps, a knight in full plate was a tank, you don't cut or slice through proper steel, you try and crush/dent or pierce it with warhammers, maces and various polearm.... and even then its not easy. Archers can bugger off, only a crossbow at short to medium range can pierce a well made plate helm or cuirass. None the less as a Medieval aficionado, I'm sure to pay much heed to this game in the months ahead.
Thomas Ritchard Well, knights would have better fortifications and armor, as well as weapons, being rich noblemen and all. Also, there's this thing this game didn't show called a polearm. Crap, they did fuck up the strategies! where's my damned shield wall? or shields that are probably way too big to make it fair? Those norse shields were tiny! I had one sived for me at eight that size! Also, if the norseman could get past the defenses that the knight should have, then maybe, yes.
Thomas Ritchard "i saw a show" spreading whild theories - mushrooms and what not... (if you have tried mushrooms you would know how bad it is for doing anything else, especially fighting, and im talking about all psychidelic mushrooms, though i can speak with certainty only about cubensis and amanita) how about ALIENS. in battle there is no way for "berserkers" (whatever you mean by that) to beat professional soldiers whose job is fighting other soldiers, armies, while vikings job is looting and raiding- fighting peasants, guards or some form of militia - and for that you don't need big shields or heavy armor. thats why the samurai also have no shields and weak armor. only the knight is equipped to properly handle most weapons and battle situations. on one one situations i would say the knights to win most of the time, but sometimes they will lose because individual skill comes into play, knights are better trained, better equipped, have sophisticated sword training and combat tactics the knights would only lose to mongols out of all medieval and ancient type of warriors.
I hope they have a war going, where player victorys determine reinforcements for new battles and such. That kind of feature makes victorys and losses so much more impactful.
The knights in this trailer took a real punishing, but that final shot (a perfect Murder Hew) made it all worth while! I am so fucking ready for this game!
I gotta say, it's pretty impressive the attention to detail they put to the swordsmanship in this game, it looks damn realistic(also please tell me I can pommel strike someone), except for you know, cutting strait through armor....
Elvin Alemán E-Fucking-Nough... No offense but that fucking joke(meme) has been old for years, my god is it seriously going to be everywhere? Why join the millions of other people saying the same shit every time? Be original, Wtf.
I hope this is a game that does a good melee system right, that feels effective and fair. This gave me chills as I've been waiting for games like this that do amazing cultural crossovers and setting a battleground for multiplayer fun.
Remember this is Ubisoft. So this will be downgraded quite a bit. Just remember that. It really odd to say in the footage as well. Warning this will be downgraded. I wonder if the combat in this will be a shallow and boring as in AssCreed series. That game basically plays it self, just hold down a few buttons and in combat yeah lets give the player the ability to parry infinitely and enemies only attack one at the time. Yeah no faith in Ubisoft from me.
So how do you want the combat they finely made a new combat system witch AC U parrying and it's still not good??? Batman does the same thing counter attack counter attack so does unity.., so please tell me how the combat should be
Blank- blade Sorry, but what exactly is unhistorical about their weapons and armor? For the knights, i see longswords, shields, and flails, and they wear steel plate armor. The knight even used the hilt like a club at the end, like real life knights did. The Vikings have their iconic round shields and arming swords and axes, and they wear iron helms and furs. The Samurai have their traditional katana and naginata, and they wear banded iron and steel armor. All that stuff was absolutely used by those guys. The combat isn't the most realistic, but that's to be expected in a video game. I guess the only complaint I could foresee is that Samurai didn't really use katanas on the battlefield all that much? But the game takes place in a made up, fantasy country anyway. It doesnt have to be exactly like earth.
Alex Mercer The design itself. Its like the developers took really bad reenactors and built their models after them. Its about the ragged overall looks, which are wrong but hey, its entertainment, and like Ares said, we should enjoy it for what it is. I am nagging on a high level here ;)
So this is the HD definition version of Chivalry? (Disclaimer: I was just making a joke. The trailer does look amazing. We will have to wait for actual gameplay to see how this game shines.)
Oh man, I would love to play as a samurai, they're pretty fast and stealthy. Also can't wait to pley this game along with others games (battlefront, dishonered2, fallout4, division and E.T.C)
Actually, "honor" is of Latin origin, and originally it was "or." Johnson, the author of the English dictionary that started this debate, used "our" because of its French origins, which he preferred. So, the Americans are right in this case.
FOUND THE UBISOFT BUG: 1:57. Viking was holding an axe, camera pans around and now he's holding a sword. Knew there's be one in there with this being an Ubisoft title.
The only reason I'd consider getting this game is because of the half swording shown in this trailer, hopefully to encourage others to use it in the future.
I don't care about the cynicism saying this will be a letdown; I've never seen a reveal trailer for a game I've never heard about that has hyped me up quite like this. I think I've already watched this about 6 times
Knight fucking halfswords the fucker at the end. Holy fuck, I know this is Ubisoft but I want to believe in this game and the gameplay looks so much fun.
Ok, so: -Vikings laying sieges - Katanas cutting through steel plate - Everyone running with their blades on the hip, without sheath Yep, that's one game that I don't want to turn on my brain for. It's looking good thou.
This will either be really good or really fucking awful.
Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth It'll be an awful, buggy mess with broken servers that won't be up for a week after launch.
Ryan Marshall how the fuck do you know?
Dweeblord Presumably because he's played a game launched in the past five years.

Villainy Looks a bit more complex. By the way, since ubishiet released watch dogs and AC Unity i dont expect too much from them.

Indraroh Katanas do cut stuff you know bud
Victor Hartmann They can't cut through steel armour, it is literally impossible. They would shatter on impact because they were so rigid thanks to all the incessant folding needed to make Japanese pig iron (iron of an incredibly low quality) actually usable.
Indraroh only thing other than flesh and clothes I saw katanas cut through is chain mail which was no surprise.

Alex Kast exactly what I thought.
Alex Kast Cause Chivalry wasn't already M&B for casuals lol. Get out of here.

Alex Kast And yes, it does look like Chivalry for casuals.
None the less as a Medieval aficionado, I'm sure to pay much heed to this game in the months ahead.
lol @ knights losing everywhere except the last kill, when in reality they would win 10/10

Love the idea that Ubisoft is trying something new :) The gameplay looks aesthetically very pleasing :)

I don't even know which faction I would play as... They all look so freaking cool!
Oh and one more thing. Please have the Templar Knights! It would be awesome to relive the crusades.
Finally my two favorite swordsmen. Crusader and Samurai
Im gonna replay the part beginning at 1:00 until I exhaust it, epic music! One day these trailers will be the games lol
I luv how the knight kills using the blunt part of the handle of his sword
This is the most badass trailer I've seen in awhile
Ready to play this and wreak havoc as Gregor Clegane.
After watching the Deadliest Warrior season one finale I wish there were Spartans in this for some sweet Spartan vs Samurai showdowns.
Well, one of the viking classes is spear and shield, so wish "kinda" granted . . .
I don't say this lightly, this is probably the best trailer ever made.
That is the first time I have ever seen half swording or murder strikes in a game. SOLD!
They always make great trailers.....
At least for once it looks like they are actually going to make a great game to go with said great trailer.
this game is out on steam already, itvs called chivarly medieval warfare, same melee oriented battlefield game. graphics look freaking sweet
So this is the HD definition version of Chivalry? (Disclaimer: I was just making a joke. The trailer does look amazing. We will have to wait for actual gameplay to see how this game shines.)
Am I the only one here who is happy and grate full for a game and never complain?
Oh man, I would love to play as a samurai, they're pretty fast and stealthy. Also can't wait to pley this game along with others games (battlefront, dishonered2, fallout4, division and E.T.C)
Now, if they only spelled honour correctly then I might give this game a go.
***** US spelling is always wrong.
Naoki7 Why thank you sir, how kind of you. You sir are a yank, can't change that, I'm sorry.
Actually, "honor" is of Latin origin, and originally it was "or." Johnson, the author of the English dictionary that started this debate, used "our" because of its French origins, which he preferred. So, the Americans are right in this case.
Synbious snobby ass brit
pineapple-kun Lol at you, I'm not a brit.
Damn this looks promising! And there is a link for gameplay footage at the end of the trailer too! Brothers and sisters, TO ARMS!
2:10 Oh my gosh, he just actually half-sworded that guy. They really put an effort into making this game semi-realistic.
Seconds after its streamed, it's here.
Did I just see "halfswording"? HNNNNNNNNNNNG my heart!
imagine playing this while listening to Dynasty Warriors Series soundtrack
You had me at "Ubisoft Montreal".
This is like a combo of chivalry and deadliest. Warrior chiv and war of the roses
FOUND THE UBISOFT BUG: 1:57. Viking was holding an axe, camera pans around and now he's holding a sword. Knew there's be one in there with this being an Ubisoft title.
Yeah I saw that too.
it whas because they would let the sword be used by the part of the knight
+Tychus Findlay Yeah, and then his whole body turns into a knight. This is bullshit, nice job ubisoft, idiots.
It looks like a updated Deadliest Warrior game. This is awesome.
He did the murder stroke, he did it wrong, but it was still a murder stroke.
Man I wish the trailer version actually looks like that in the game.
But it does...
Remember Guys Ubisoft is Good at making Trailer so Buy WISELY
Dude that game looks so sick I really want it.
After few days I am getting my new gaming pc I know what I will be playing there:D
I love how that guy came and died to save the Viking leader
RUclips is filled with people who have apparently been in dozens, no hundreds, of life or death situations involving sword fighting and plate armor.
Seeing this makes me want a story line. Not for the story but for the cut scenes.
This trailer just makes the game look sooooooo gooood. I neeeed it.
Anyone else notice that the knight who yells oi dies. Y'know, the one right after the first samurai part.
The only reason I'd consider getting this game is because of the half swording shown in this trailer, hopefully to encourage others to use it in the future.
the more i watch this the more i crave to play it
I don't care about the cynicism saying this will be a letdown; I've never seen a reveal trailer for a game I've never heard about that has hyped me up quite like this. I think I've already watched this about 6 times
Also, some good DLC ideas would be like an Ancient Greek on with like Macedon, Sparta, and Athens. This new IP has potential.
This looks interesting! Definetly looking forward to more news on this.
Looks awesome! Obviously in reality Knights have a huge advantage and would probably win, but I look forward to playing as a badass Viking
Knight fucking halfswords the fucker at the end.
Holy fuck, I know this is Ubisoft but I want to believe in this game and the gameplay looks so much fun.
this is actually a very cool looking ip, we need more pvp inspired games that aren't all FPS or mobas:)
Damnnn, too damn EPIC in a good damn way. Count me on the first day.
Teutonic Knights FTW!
Ok, so:
-Vikings laying sieges
- Katanas cutting through steel plate
- Everyone running with their blades on the hip, without sheath
Yep, that's one game that I don't want to turn on my brain for.
It's looking good thou.
Kick ass. Gotta see some gameplay footage for this. :D
Samurai... the ONLY choice. ;)
i love how they changed the samurai armor to have a proper chain mail and metals not like the original onces who had wood and leather
I have been waiting for a decent sword combat game. This looks awesome. I like how they brought different styles into it!!!!!!!! Looking good so far!
Game creators should make more games from this era of genre, I really enjoyed Ryse: Son Of Rome. What a fabulous game trailer.
