I grew up a Baptist, a Southern Baptist specifically. When I was 16, I worked in a Nursing home and I came across a copy of Doctrine & Covenants in the Lobby Area and my boss let me take it home and keep it. After reading it I was really intrigued. Initially I did not know what to think about the Church so I did take a more slightly "Anti-LDS" position. I soon immersed myself in the study of and the research of the Church and its beliefs, and I re-read D&C. I soon thereafter ordered a copy of the Book of Mormon, as my interest in the Church grew my parents basically told me "don't even think about joining that church" because they (more specifically my mom) wanted me to remain a Southern Baptist. So I waited. I waited four years. When I was 20 and I contacted the missionaries and was baptized. Shortly before my Baptism my parents freaked out and were super angry. They essentially asked me to stop meeting with the missionaries to which I said no. My dad actually prayed about it and he said that he felt the spirit testify to him that I was making a good decision. Both my parents even attended my Baptism, they would never join the Church though because there are some things they fundamentally disagree with, however, they're happy that I am seeking God and that I am a devout in my belief in Christ. I found that Oliver's story is quite similar to mine in some regards. What beautiful copper hair! 🧡btw if our host had also assembled a list of all the newspaper and magazine articles as well as political cartoons antagonistic to the church that were published in the 19th century he would have had a much longer list. The book Religion of a Different Color by Paul Reeve showed me this phenomenon.
It’s so sad that LDS members are uncomfortable with the word Christian. We are Christian! It may not be to the standards of other Christian faiths but we absolutely believe in Jesus Christ. That’s why I find so much peace by going by our true title of Saint! Saint sounds so cool. It’s the same thing as Christian and was the true name of the followers of Jesus Christ in the scriptures. So as a member, whenever I get back lash about Latter day saints being Christians, I just remind myself that although we may not be Christian to them, We are saints! So I refer to myself as a saint in all settings.
Really interesting video but don't think your take on "intervention" was fair. Moving from one Protestant denomination to another is no big deal because the core doctrines about salvation, the nature of God, etc are the same and not outside orthodoxy. Moving to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is for all intents and purposes, moving to a different religion for Protestants, similar to moving to Catholicism. That's not to say there isn't anti-mormon sentiment I think Mormons are scapegoated a lot more than they should and this channel helped take away my prejudices against you. Enjoying these conversion videos, particularly from Protestantism to understand people's thoughts and motivations.
Not sure if your intervention comment was aimed at myself or David, but honestly I agree with you, and it's what I tried to address. Many of my bapstist friends at the time genuinely believed I was joining a cult. I can see why they think that, despite it not being true. But that's why they did what they did. It's part of the reason I was specific in including the comment about seeing where my parents where coming from with their attitudes toward me becoming a Latter-day Saint. I can definitely see their side of it. I just hope one day I get to see them come to the Church.
I growed up moving from one church to another ... their core doctrines about salvation are not the same among them. The youtube channel: Soteriology 101 , is a prime example of this. When you say that they are not outside of orthodoxy ... are you referencing the Catholic church's stance? or some other "this is what the primitive church actually believed" stance? You even mention that moving from Protestant to Catholic is equivalent to moving to LDS; so that leads me to believe that Catholic orthodoxy would be off the table. What orthodoxy are we talking about then?
Am I the only one that says the faith is Christianity and the religion is being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Baptist, Catholic etc? Faith... Christian Religion... LDS
I used to be Mormon but left and accepted Islam. I do not hate you Mormons. I disagree with you, but I respect you for being nice people and very charitable.
This is exactly why Christian churches need to actually educate their members on the basics of biblical doctrine who Jesus is , what the gospel is , the atonement etc . It amazes me that so many Christian church members don’t understand that just because a group uses the name Jesus Christ does not mean they are talking about the biblical Christ . Most lds members sincerely believe they follow the biblical Christ but it’s up to the body of Christ to show them the biblical truth
So I get your theory, mine is literally just that God has always told us that people were resist the truth. That's Satan will work really hard to make sure that there's misconceptions and negative feelings towards the truth of God. Because like you said otherwise, there's not really any particular reason for members of the church to be singled out more than other Christian religions. 😁
Usually have a hard time watching myself, but I love this!! Thanks for allowing me to do this 😊

Faith... Christian
Religion... LDS
I used to be Mormon but left and accepted Islam. I do not hate you Mormons. I disagree with you, but I respect you for being nice people and very charitable.
And we love you and thank you for the respect and dignity and offer the same to you.
As-Salaam alaykum!
What do you think of Jesus Christ?
@@jayakron3076 how's about you take your negativity somewhere else?
@@jayakron3076 brother I would encourage you to seek truth. My Church does not kill apostates, neither does Islam. God bless.
Most lds members sincerely believe they follow the biblical Christ but it’s up to the body of Christ to show them the biblical truth
next time y'all do a story about someone who was told the Church is a 'cult", do the clip from 'Doctor Strange'
LOVE THAT!!!!
uggg Ontario. Probably votes NDP or Liberal (Safety > Freedom)
SOO good
How the Spirit changes people!
Why expose any Church?...
Because we are commanded to preach the Truth
