Welcome back to another flight everyone! This ones is a look at SWISS's brand new premium economy product from LA to Zurich. Hope you all enjoy and this helps you decide next time you fly if this new product is something you'd consider.
Having flown several times Premium Economy with Swiss, I do agree that the lack of privacy compared to other airlines (Emirates or such) is quite unfortunate. However, for long distance flights, I still feel much more relaxed and energetic than if I had flown Economy. And that's the most important thig for me.
Yes I agree that’s above all. For the length of flight, premium is definitely an upgrade over economy as it should be
Privacy is of absolute zero concern for me. What is most important for me is the ability to lie down (I cannot fall asleep when sitting). But it will take a visionary on the Elon Musk or Steve Jobs scale to introduce couchettes in the economy class. Yes, I've heard _ALL_ the arguments why this is "impossible" and how it would "render business class inoperable" and all that. It's all nonsense and bureaucratic laziness, of course. Our lives are surrounded by things that were deemed "impossible".
what are you talking about?! No other airline has any kind of privacy shields in premium economy. If you do want privacy, that might actually be the only thing that those shields to the front and back actually serve.
Flew Swissair MD-11 in 1992 from LAX to Geneva. In those days the flight made a stop in Geneva before continuing to Zurich. The meal you got (steak) was the same as the economy meals that were served up to the 1970s.
Cool to hear didn’t even know we had a direct to Geneva in the 90s.
Thanks for this video. In Sept-Oct 2022 we flew on Swiss in Economy between SFO and Zurich. Overall wasn’t a pleasant experience so I appreciate this video. Also appreciate your style: attention to seat details, take-off sequence, views from outside your seat, and seat details. Many other YT reviews don’t give attention to these details. 👍🏻 BTW-I use a coat hook (when available) all the time. I carry my passport and wallet in my coat so I prefer to have it next to me vs in the overhead bin, in my lap or on the floor for a long-haul flight. I also imagine more would use those coat hooks during the winter vs July when you flew. Cheers.
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed. As for the coat hook that’s a fair point. Most of these aircraft have coat hanger closets that I’d feel better about using. The seats already have as little personal space as it is a coat and a potentially thick one would take away a lot of space from that. But since you keep your passport in your coat pocket, that’s fair argument for sure
Very detail review. Thank you so much
Thanks for watching and glad you got utility out of this review!
Ahhh, my beloved Swiss maintains a great standard. This meal quality is better than what is served in Polaris BusiessFirst international long haul. #UNITED
Thank you sir for this wonderful video.
The food was good for what it was worth. I was definitely happy with it, glad you enjoyed
How you eat an orange:
1. Peel it (tool: fingers)
2. Separate into pieces (tool: fingers)
3. Stuff pieces into big hole underneath nose (tool: fingers)
Easy as 1,2,3 :)
Instructions unclear, I am now a wanted man in Germany, Antarctica, North Korea, and Vatican City
Best review I have seen so far.
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching and hopefully you got utility out of this video and get utility out of others
What a review..! Men! May I know where exactly you seated? Wing view is the cons, the others looks fantastic considering their reasonable price strategy.
Water bottle holder right above the power plugs. Genius design. That engineer is a true winner...
Lol didn’t even think about that, but yeah I can’t imagine that’s the safest of designs.
I like the Premium Eco Product.Good job
Yeah for what it’s worth it’s a pretty decent product. Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed
Thank you so much for this detailed look at this Swiss Air service. I was wondering which airline and service you would suggest for flying from Paris to Boston. We are planning a flight in early May. Thanks so much. Elisabeth
Absolutely!! Hope it helped you and gave you utility for choosing your next travels!
Great looking food. Shame about the lack of privacy. Very few PE seats are designed with pricy in mind. It wouldn’t take much to extend the side headrest panels. Nice report 👍✈️
Yup exactly! Small changes go a long way for passenger comfort. Definitely some questionable choices but still a decent cabin overall.
It's a shame that on most widebodies the premium economy cabin sits over the wing. A good view out the window is rare
Yeah, especially on this aircraft where the wing is actually pretty massive and takes up a lot of rows
Do you think it's worth to upgrade to the more legroom seats (which are premium economy) over the regular. I keep hearing funky things about the shell seats not being comfortable?
not really. its a step up over economy for sure but not over the price premium for sure
depends how far you are going. Anything over 5 hours your butt'll thank your wallet.
Hi, would you advise me to take the seats in the front of premium economy? I’m 6’4 and a bit scared concerning the legroom
They definitely will have more legroom. Though beware the window seat because it’s an emergency exit row and the bulge on the door will protrude into your leg space. So if you must take a seat in that row make sure it’s an aisle seat
In the 1st row what kind of screen do they get? Is it personally?
@@AshamissAmemiss the TVs come out of the armrests, it’s not personal devices
@@TheAircraftKing is the size of the TV the same as in the row behind or smaller? I am also inclined to take seat in row 20 over 21 just because of the legroom as I am quite tall but was just wondering if that will come with slightly less width for each seat (since the TV comes out of the armrests) and whether TVs are as big as for the ones in the other two premium eco rows?
@@a89874 the screen is definitely bigger than economy and clear
Which website did you use to book?
I always book all my flights directly on airline website and this one was the same booked directly on Swiss
12:57 gratin or layered potatoes
What's the class code for LX prem econ?
G and E are their standard fares and N is their discount fare.
thanks for coming through @@TheAircraftKing
Question on video at ruclips.net/video/FRq99c_LEc0/видео.html as you head thru business class, what am I seeing with every other seating on the right the partition appears to be down? As a couple traveling that would be preferable.
Good question. So the seating on the right is actually alternating in layout. The rows where the partition appears to be “up” is actually a single throne seat with more space, but the ones where the partition appears to be down are actually pair seats, so ideal for couple traveling. This is what you are seeing on the right side. So it’s actually alternating rows between single seats and dual seats so naturally the dual seats would be ideal for couples as you were saying
I wish you had gone into more detail about the seat. To me the idea of having a fixed seat and push forward to recline is just terrible. It must waste so much space in front while the person behind you has little to no advantage.
Sorry you didn’t get the details you wanted out of the seat? What more details were you looking for, perhaps I can provide more info.
And yes no joke you literally have to put your full body weight into the seat to recline it. Maybe it was just that time because the seat was very new but poor design nonetheless
I wish you could have gone into more details about how much space there actually is when the chair is completely declined - how the foot / leg rest works, if there is a "end of foot" rest and how much space is underneath the seat in front for your feet. To me that's the biggest issue with this new design. But I guess it depends on how tall you are, too. @@TheAircraftKing
@@jemand8462 sorry about that, I tried to give as much of a depth view as possible with what I recorded but if it wasn’t sufficient enough thats on me I’ll keep in mind for next time, cheers
Edit : hahaha

Plenty of lovely bathroom selfies across different videos…you’ll just have to go hunting to find them 😉. To be fair I don’t remember which videos I’m in or not it’s random

Had the experience a week ago. Have to say Etihad or Emirates normal Eco is better than the eco plus at the swiss. Swiss does only better in service on flights.
I would definitely say premium economy gives you a slight edge on privacy and amenities, but I definitely agree with you for price value. Economy on those airlines would be superior.
Too expensive for very average offerings
Why do American’s insist on not using a knife to eat? A UK/US citizen watching in Florida.
Very fair question. I can assure you the second I put the camera down my other hand went straight for the knife. I was just showing the toughness of the meat with my fork, plus I would’ve had a hard time recording if I was using a fork + knife to show the food 😅
😡 p̳r̳o̳m̳o̳s̳m̳
Mediocre Premium economy experience compared to Emirates
With also much less funding. I would say They aren't terribly different. With Emirates' premium economy, should the person in front of you recline, you virtually have no space for yourself
So I don't know if you shoot and hold the camera with one hand. It totally irritated me how you tried to eat with cutlery with only one hand and everything fell around you. Maybe next time you should skip shooting the food, or use a camera holder. And that shell by the seat is the best thing about it. You can lie down and not disturb anyone behind you. Food is similar to the economy. And if your parents taught you to eat with cutlery, you will enjoy it.
No sorry I was never taught to eat with a a spoon and knife. The spoon is the sharp one that you use to cut the meats and and the knife is what you use to eat with if i recall correctly.
The shell seat design is great if the airline actually knows what they are doing. Swiss botched it up compared to other airlines that didn’t. And also premium economy means there’s no lying down, only reclining, and in Swiss’s case, reclining after you put your full body’s weight into the seat
😂😂
I like watching youtubers unbox things with one hand. It's a whole evolution in progress...
