    Oh I love how this came out!! I think the thickening actually made the design really unique. I like that the purple doesn't look like a totally separate layer.

    Very lovely, in spite of the thickening of the batter. The purple appears to float in the center of a white bar instead of being three individual layers.❤

    When you colour your batter, you just measure the colour in & mix, but when you add titanium dioxide, its always pre mixed wth water, why is that, wouldn't it be better to mix it with oil?
    And congratulations on yet another fabulous looking soap.

    • @OpheliasSoapery
      @OpheliasSoapery  4 года назад +1

      No. When it’s melting it only reaches 120°f then I add my liquid oils and it goes down to 95°f.
      To my understanding hot process reaches over 200°.

    This is just a dream!
    So wonderful.
    However: once you made the lye solution you put it with the oils and butters or do you wait until the lye solution reaches a specific temperature? I'm new to soap crafting and watching someone so skillful as you inspires me so much, yet there's a lot I still don't know!
    Thank you, I hope you'll answer to this.
    Keep up your great work!

    • @OpheliasSoapery
      @OpheliasSoapery  4 года назад +1

      I add the lye solution right away to make sure it’s as hot as it can be so it will fully melt the hard oils/butters :)

    Everything lavender is always my favorite. Beautiful.. I have a question for you. I've made soap starting for my oldest son for many years but only personal use or maybe as gifts. I had someone ask me about a soap I couldn't answer. Never did this. Have you ever or considered making soap for pets?? It makes sense. Most pets are many peoples closest family. I can not find much info on it as for the artisan soap world.

    • @OpheliasSoapery
      @OpheliasSoapery  5 лет назад +1

      I haven’t made pet soaps. Are you on Facebook? I’m in a lot of soap making groups and there are many posts about dog soaps on there. A lot of people are for it. And a lot are not. 🤔

    • @joanfischer1819
      @joanfischer1819 5 лет назад

      Deborah Farr, I’ve made dog soap before. There is a recipe on RUclips but I can’t remember the soaper. It involves oats. It’s great! Look it up if you can.

  • @userbunny14

    Can you use more then one butter in your soaps? I can't use coconut oil in my soaps as I'm allergic, so I'm wondering if I can use Cocoa butter to replace it, but I already have shea butter in my recipe at 15%. I haven't actually made any soap yet, but I'm playing with recipes.

    • @OpheliasSoapery
      @OpheliasSoapery  4 года назад

      A good replacement for coconut oil is babassu oil. It will create bubbles like coconut oil does. Cocoa butter wouldn’t add bubbles.
      But you can use more than 1 butter. I use cocoa butter and Shea.

    • @OpheliasSoapery
      @OpheliasSoapery  4 года назад +1

      Yes. It’s just faster. Instead of waiting hours for your lye water and melted oils to cool. You can Soap right away with this method :)

    Is it possible to make this amount of soap using ONLY essential oils or does the out of pocket expense make it not worth the try?

    • @OpheliasSoapery
      @OpheliasSoapery  3 года назад +1

      Of course you can. I charge a little more for my essential oil soaps. I get my essential oils from New Directions Aromatics. They have great prices and their essential oils are amazing. Also use a eo calculator that way you’re not using too much
      I use this one

    • @OpheliasSoapery
      @OpheliasSoapery  5 лет назад +2

      I’m not sure. I don’t measure it. I just add a little water and allot of TD. Where do you get your TD from?

    • @jodimessick3578
      @jodimessick3578 5 лет назад

      Ophelia’s Soapery I’ve been getting it from Bramble Berry. I usually do the 1tsp of titanium dioxide to 1 teaspoon of oil, but the color was bad, so I then tried water and the color is better, but now I have a lot of glycerin rivers.

      @Lytchiie 5 лет назад

      @@OpheliasSoapery I have the same problem. Is there a limitation on how much titanium dioxyde you can use in your soap, regarding regulations, etc? Do you measure the water in the lye water differently since you're adding more water with the titanium dioxyde?

    Hi! What lye water temperature should be?

    • @OpheliasSoapery
      @OpheliasSoapery  5 лет назад

      For the heat transfer method I think lye water is about 200° I don’t let it sit I pour it right in when the lye is dissolved.

  • @yeoldecatwench834
    @yeoldecatwench834 5 лет назад

    How do you know if the lye water has enough heat to melt your hard oils?

    • @OpheliasSoapery
      @OpheliasSoapery  5 лет назад +1

      You pour it in as soon as you mix it. It definitely has enough heat. If you let it set a while. It probably wouldn’t melt them.
