My dad bought this album in the late 70ies. It was the first time I heard the combination of celtic folk music with electric guitars. I love this style till today. Im really glad I saw Alan Stivell play live a few years ago in Germany.

A real jewel, this Alan Stivell. I had the luck to listen to him at a festival in Vienna in 1982, and was ipressed and enchanted!

I own the French pressing of this on Keltia III and it differs from the UK pressing on Fontana, which is the version you hear here. For one, all the spoken dialog is in French, rather than English. Some of the songs have a slightly different mix, and "Nine Bretons in Prison" was sung in Breton rather than English. I can understand why the differences between the pressings since the UK pressing would sell to a UK and British Isles audience and the French pressing to French and Breton audience.

I own a bunch of his 1970s albums and this is truly one of my favorites from him, although my version does differ, a French pressing but not drastically from the UK pressing heard here. A successful combination of Celtic folk and rock with prog leanings. I noticed the Celtic styles vary on this album. Breton, obviously but also Scottish and Irish styles although none of the songs on this album were traditional. But even when he does cover traditional material (like Chemins de Terres aka From Celtic Roots) he'd cover all over the Celtic world and even sing in the native language (Irish, Scots Gaelic, Welsh, and of course Breton).

Gigantisch , vergleichbar mit Frank Zappa!

There are moments in this album that remind me of the music of Frank Zappa. If that sounds far-fetched, listen to some of Frank's instrumental stuff. Maybe Alan Stivell was an influence for Frank. Considering I was a fan of both of them during that time, and I'm nobody, Frank might have listened to Alan as well during the same time frame. He was a pretty musically knowledgeable guy.
