@bellion7642 the salmon ladder scene with the arrow theme playing still a beast scene. One of my favorite episodes I always re-watch is episode 5 Damaged because how emotional and deep it is. You could see the pain in Oliver and all he has to deal with.
People probably don’t realise that Stephen Amell is responsible for making body building and exercising popular in 2012/2013. He was one of the first viral “workout” guys on social media. The scenes of him doing the Solomon ladder and chin up videos were everywhere. The first 2 seasons of Arrow had a huge positive effect on so many teenage boys and men. Everyone wanted to get a physique similar to Stephen Amells and that grown out buzz cut hairstyle. It’s shame that they let the show become what it did.
When I watched one of the Salmon Ladder scenes, it struck me that he was not only scaling it perfectly, he was actually simultaneously ACTING, pitch-perfectly, in the scene, carrying on a a conversation as the most normal thing in the world. The level of dedication, fitness, and ability to multi-task in that scene just blew me away.
@queenannsrevenge100No one ever talks about that. Stephen Amell’s got insane stamina control to work out on-screen, no cuts, and then act out said conversation with barely any visible panting.
I knowww I was the same way during the peak of that show, even though it definitely had its ups and downs. Overall though, I always thought Amell’s commitment to portraying the layers of that character showed in his performance even when the writing sometimes wasn’t the best
@goldfilms995 I never saw his commitment change. But you could tell he knew when they were making an episode that wasn't working but you couldn't just scrap it, or get a new script done. As it was noticeable when they did have a script that was doing all the right things. There was a sense of having to maintain his excitement, since he's not playing a happy go lucky character. The closest time we see him get to play that was during Elseworlds. And I know he says now that he wished they would have gone for 200 episodes. But they had a problem when they came to season 6 where Diaz was set up to be his version of Bane. Except the backstory of his character didn't match the threat level, instead it felt like Oliver was nerfed, when he should have easily won against a street thug after having won not just against much more trained people and even one with super strength and a healing factor. The same season he beat a version of himself that had taken over a planet and was able to match Oliver blow for blow. I get not wanting to do yet another secret organization that was like the league with another name. Something they ended up doing with Emiko anyway and it lost all of its luster.
It is always a delight when Stephen comes on the podcast. His Suits LA story reminds me that it is not the destination but the journey. Definitely an episode worth listening to. Thank you for bringing us such a great podcast week after week.
Stephen is such an amazing human. I remember meeting him at a con and even though he had a long line, he spent SUCH a long time talking with me and sharing my excitement. Love seeing his success and love getting to hear this podcast
Canceling it with him laying paralyzed on his back is a horrible way to have it end. I never renewed my starz subscription after that. If starz didn't have outlander they would the be worst streaming service.
The darker batman tone in season 1 of Arrow was the best. When The Flash came around, its like they started making Arrow less dark and more colourful to match the Flash shows energy
@PSYCHOV3N0MMore so with Normies. How ever some of it was based off the Longbow hunters written by Grell. Grells comics are not really light. The show should've not copied so much from Batman and just adapted more Grell GA comics. To keep that dark tone. So that you could blend pleasing the normies to increase audience and comic fans
Stephen is incredible, Smallville started the superhero tv show but Arrow made it all blow up. I’m a Superman fan, however I loved arrow so much and his portrayal of Oliver Queen, we named our son Oliver because of that show, thanks guys!
Random guy here. I was only watching Suits L.A. because of Stephen. I looooved the original Suits, but the writing on this was.. 😬. I would continue watching tho ahahah. And Heels being cancelled it’s a crime, that was very very good.
It is interesting the difference between Stephen and other actors where when a show gets cancelled most would blame the audience where Stephen just openly either blame himself or say the show wasn’t popular or successful enough to continue
I feel bad that he feels bad but it is refreshing that he does take accountability and has a realistic and open approach to work which i appreciate. But this guy is still in his prime and I hope he realises that he is still at the beginning of his career and I wish him the best.
Stephen will always be THE green arrow. Seasons 1-3 of that show are damn near perfect. That show built an entire CW universe and we got so many amazing moments thanks to the work of Stephen and co. Thank you for all the great nights enjoying arrow with my wife and son. It became a tradition in our home. Nostalgic for sure.
@spaceaceasmr1446🤦🏻♂️ smallville was pretty good but it got forgotten and nothing followed up to keep it somewhat involved . Then Arrow showed up and blew up . From there they launched multiple shows spinning off of Arrow . No reason to try and shit in his opinion and feelings damn man you must be pretty sad to do that 🤦🏻♂️
@spaceaceasmr1446 Nah, people only think of Superman when thinking about Smallville. Arrow was many people's introduction to Green Arrow and was a great grounded action show, add to the fact that Stephen did most of his own stunts and extremely dedicated to his insane fitness made a lot of people want to work out as well.
@spaceaceasmr1446 no one cared about green arrow in smallville. The actor was decent, and he was in a fair few seasons. But he wasn't really the standout. It was all superman really, and maybe a bit of lex and lionel. But mainly superman.
I would KILL for an arrow watch podcast. Seriously. He is a very blunt honest caring guy and worrying about saying something sucks is fine just do it man.
[3:41] I found that 2-season show after the fact, which meant I found myself quite quickly getting to experience both ends of the spectrum - from being really stoked to have discovered it and enjoyed it so much, and then all of a sudden to being majorly bummed that it ended so soon.
Stephen was SO GREAT in Arrow, but due to it taking off, he will forever be Oliver, also because he acts like Oliver in every basically. Which makes it difficult to not "feel" that in his other performances
I just had this strange moment while watching around 10 minutes in, where I remembered I met Stephen Amell at a con around 2018 and got a photo with him and my brother. I am star-struck all over again lol. I was dressed as Deathstroke too.
Randomly clicked on this video bc i saw Stephen Amell in the thumbnail. Was happily surprised when I saw Michael Rosenbaum. Had heard you had a podcast but first time tuning in. I grew up watching Smallville. Great Episode, will watch again.
During the Covid season, I had the privileged and honour to work with Stephen Amell's cousin via Robbie Amell as a covid tester and so forth filming the show called Upload. I wish I had the chance to work or meet with Stephen Amell as well during that time. Maybe someday
If the CW wasn't afraid to have Batman on screen they would have realized that they could have made Stephen Amell an alternate universe Batman and it would have made for peak television.
It’s Stephen’s Ego saying Arrow should’ve lasted longer. I loved that show but it was clear it needed to end. It was a slog for me to get through in the end
Always great to see him on the podcast but this one really meant something for me because I just got word I didn't get a promotion I was working hard for and almost expected. So many great insights about how to think about it differently, so thank you both for this great episode.
I like michael, but sometimes his questions are just...he doesn't read the room. Its like he wants him to feel shame or expect some line of answer from stephen and interrupt him if its not going that way. Maybe its just me, but I was frustrated listening to this
Props to Stephen for letting folks know how cool we are in Canada. When I met him, he seemed so intense and not openly proud of where was from, but clearly I was wrong.
I find it interesting that on the show that was a success, he tried to do everything and help everyone: that's a problem. On the show that failed, he left people alone and did his job: that's the correct/better way.
Great interview Rosy, if you're looking for a quick name for the Arrow watch, why not make it ArrowTalk? After TalkVille, it would keep the tendency going? I would re-watch it anytime with you guys, I'd have probably a thousand questions along the way that would be answered by the two of you chatting about each episode. Thanks for everything Michael, you rock! 😂
I never knew Stephen existed until i saw Arrow. He is a tremendous actor, great talent. Hopefully when i go back to Canada, i see him in person for an autograph/pic. Stephen deserves to be in a blockbuster DC movie lead.
the interviews with Stephen Amell are some of my favourites. he is always so open, honest and gives off a certain gravitas about him. he is always striving to be better and looking inward in a form of self reflection that allows him to move on a better person.
I was fortunate enough to work on a majority of Season Two of Heels. Mainly as background and once as Production Assistant and a stand in. Crew was always professional, and the work they put in was evident. Sad that Heels didn’t come back for a season 3, but grateful for the experience!!
I think the problem was people were expecting the og suits. All my friends who watched it were like this isn’t like suits. they had an uphill battle tbh. Maybe if they called it something else it would’ve done better
Arrow is my favorite show ever, before that was Smallville lol 3 years ago, my wife gave me an authentic and functional bow, like The Hood's bow on Season 1. Arrow really made a difference in my life, thanks Stephen!
Brilliant episode, loved all the heart to heart discussions about work and life and I’m sure Stephen and Michael will be successful in anything they decide to do in the future😊
Dude, that 1st season of Arrow made me like tv again.
TV shows from 2012-15 went crazy, only to all of a sudden produce straight doodoo for a decade.
First season was so compelling
I still rewatch the Pilot like every couple months and even the first season at least once a year. Its so good.
I understand! Those final episodes in Season 1 were awesome, I couldn't look away. I also finished Season 2 but dropped off early S03.
@bellion7642 the salmon ladder scene with the arrow theme playing still a beast scene. One of my favorite episodes I always re-watch is episode 5 Damaged because how emotional and deep it is. You could see the pain in Oliver and all he has to deal with.

Podcast name for Stephen. Under the hood, the arrow rewatch.
Perfect!
There it is. Excellent.
Yup! 👌
Arrowheads podcast
Perfect name
Bro was my favorite actor in the world in 2012. Arrow was so good, and I was such a DC nerd.
so real idk i still think hes the best actor
I knowww I was the same way during the peak of that show, even though it definitely had its ups and downs. Overall though, I always thought Amell’s commitment to portraying the layers of that character showed in his performance even when the writing sometimes wasn’t the best
so real for that dude; he did amazing
@goldfilms995 I never saw his commitment change. But you could tell he knew when they were making an episode that wasn't working but you couldn't just scrap it, or get a new script done. Arrow was not as good it was a Batman ripoff.
See I’m a simple man. I see Stephen back on the pod, I instantly click ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Damn, you're lucky I'd love to have met him. 21:42
@JasmineTrimbachHe is a such a kind person, I’m glad I got to
Heels is maybe the most underrated show of the last 25 years
Heels was such a good show and I wish it had gotten a 3rd season.
100% The way it ended I immediately wanted to know what was gonna happen next
Me too!
It reslly should have gotten a season 3 and it shluld still get a season 3. Netflix really needs to wake tf up on that one
@2Good2BeTrue45 do you really want nextflix to reup on a great show with how they ended their flagship of stranger things 😂?
Canceling it with him laying paralyzed on his back is a horrible way to have it end. I never renewed my starz subscription after that. If starz didn't have outlander they would the be worst streaming service.
An Arrow rewatch show definitely needs to happen!
Shame this happened before his Baywatch casting.
Good luck to him, he's a legend in my books
🤜🏻🤛🏻😎
The darker batman tone in season 1 of Arrow was the best. When The Flash came around, its like they started making Arrow less dark and more colourful to match the Flash shows energy
It never should have been a batman knockoff in the first place.
@ragemonkey117 That's what made it great though. No one cared for the Green Arrow before the show except a few rare nerds
@ragemonkey117 THAT'S what made Arrow seasons 1 and 2 so beloved by fans.
Arrow was never colorful. It just became bad.
I can just imagine Stephen putting on the hood for his daughters first date. "Do not fail my daughter!" 😂😂
Stephen is incredible, Smallville started the superhero tv show but Arrow made it all blow up. I’m a Superman fan, however I loved arrow so much and his portrayal of Oliver Queen, we named our son Oliver because of that show, thanks guys!

That first three seasons for me was some of the best TV ever.

But this guy is still in his prime and I hope he realises that he is still at the beginning of his career and I wish him the best.
@dawnatkinson7704 yeah it’s rough but when your the most known actor or the leader it kinda is your burden, but I hope he gets better projects
My boy grayed out early! I'm surprised! Looking forward to watching this through. It was nice to see him get a primetime slot on NBC.
No, Smallville built it, no one cared about Green Arrow until Smallville. And he didn't even play GA, he played wannabe batman with a bow.
@spaceaceasmr1446🤦🏻♂️ smallville was pretty good but it got forgotten and nothing followed up to keep it somewhat involved . Then Arrow showed up and blew up . *Nocking Back* can be the name for Steven's Arrow Rewatch show
The flash is having a podcast talking to the green arrow. Now ive seen everything
Love when Stephen and Arrowverse people come on the show! Would love if you could get Noah Wyle and Ryan Eggold on!
Lmfao at "I would shake your hand but its kinda dirty there"
Suits LA was awesome I'm still bummed it didn't get another season.
Big fan of the OG suits. The new one wasn’t good at all. I wanted to like it.
I would KILL for an arrow watch podcast. Seriously. He is a very blunt honest caring guy and worrying about saying something sucks is fine just do it man.

Loved Arrow and Heels! So wished there were more Heels episodes made.
If CW shows were 24 episodes they would be so much better
Stephen was SO GREAT in Arrow, but due to it taking off, he will forever be Oliver, also because he acts like Oliver in every basically. Which makes it difficult to not "feel" that in his other performances
Stephen's the man. Seems like a genuine & real bloke. Hope his career continues to blossom, dude deserves it
I agree wholeheartedly!
I just had this strange moment while watching around 10 minutes in, where I remembered I met Stephen Amell at a con around 2018 and got a photo with him and my brother. I am star-struck all over again lol. I was dressed as Deathstroke too.
Lex vs Oliver is what we all been waiting for
Ah girl with the dragon tattoo is the movie my uncle worked really hard on as a lawyer. One of his favorite projects.
Randomly clicked on this video bc i saw Stephen Amell in the thumbnail. Was happily surprised when I saw Michael Rosenbaum. Had heard you had a podcast but first time tuning in. I grew up watching Smallville. Great Episode, will watch again.
Not a fan of wrestling but I loved Heels. Fantastic show and characters. Really hope it gets saved somehow. 🤞
Really diabolical laugh from arrow at 8:40. Voice actor anyone
During the Covid season, I had the privileged and honour to work with Stephen Amell's cousin via Robbie Amell as a covid tester and so forth filming the show called Upload. I wish I had the chance to work or meet with Stephen Amell as well during that time. Maybe someday
Ooooh Upload! I need to watch Season 3
i love how everytime Stephen talks he sounds like a wise big brother
If the CW wasn't afraid to have Batman on screen they would have realized that they could have made Stephen Amell an alternate universe Batman and it would have made for peak television.
It’s Stephen’s Ego saying Arrow should’ve lasted longer. I loved that show but it was clear it needed to end. It was a slog for me to get through in the end
Wasn't expecting Hawkeye to catch strays damn 🤣😭
Always great to see him on the podcast but this one really meant something for me because I just got word I didn't get a promotion I was working hard for and almost expected. So many great insights about how to think about it differently, so thank you both for this great episode.
58:00 don't know what the show will be called but the recording area will be known as The Quiver
Wonderful interview. Love these!
I was mid 40s and started working out again! Got to meet Stephan at a Con in Detroit. Hell of a nice guy👍 . Arrow was Awesome!
2:01 bit of Macho Man "yyeeeaaahhh, freak out" in macho man's voice lol
Arrow rewatch party would be amazing!
I like michael, but sometimes his questions are just...he doesn't read the room. Its like he wants him to feel shame or expect some line of answer from stephen and interrupt him if its not going that way. Maybe its just me, but I was frustrated listening to this
I saw that a few times on this ep. Maybe it was an edit. It threw me off though. Not sure why he did that.
Suits LA was awesome !!
1:04 parents pay note
I still rewatch arrow and the shows in that universe. What a great time. Thank you Stephen and all the cast and crew.
Love that Stephen is going for it again with the Baywatch reboot despite the failure of Suits: LA, what a trooper! Hopefully this one works better
Im a straight man but I love this dude!! Hes inspirational !! He got me into the gym back in 2012 and Im still at it today!! HEELS SEASON 3 PLEASE !!!
Silver fox! Stephen is such a great guest. Sometimes you learn more from failure than a win. I'm sure there will be future successes.
I hope Michael interviews the actor who played John F Kennedy Jr in that Love Story series. Everyone's talking that show.
Ryan! Bro! Aint seen you on warp zone in a while, lookin good lookin well, hope you are
Props to Stephen for letting folks know how cool we are in Canada. When I met him, he seemed so intense and not openly proud of where was from, but clearly I was wrong.
at least once a year i rewatch the series
The two of them roasting each other. 😂
I find it interesting that on the show that was a success, he tried to do everything and help everyone: that's a problem.
On the show that failed, he left people alone and did his job: that's the correct/better way.

STEPHEN AMELL legend ❤
I never knew Stephen existed until i saw Arrow. He is a tremendous actor, great talent. Hopefully when i go back to Canada, i see him in person for an autograph/pic. Stephen deserves to be in a blockbuster DC movie lead.
Yo! I used to watch Rent-a-Goalie! 😎
Good Canadian fella! Nice interview. There’s lots of wisdom in this conversation that is applicable to life outside of acting. Any career. Cheers!
Arrow season 1 was like WOW!!
I truly enjoyed this podcast, I really like both of these actors and their work over the years.
I always watch these episodes because of Michael! What he does is great! Great person and great actor!
We back
Bring back Arrow with just the original cast. that's all you need! Manu seems available make it happen!
Heels is one of my favorite shows of all time lol. Wish they would bring it back.
I love that he keeps coming back to the podcast 🥹
the interviews with Stephen Amell are some of my favourites. he is always so open, honest and gives off a certain gravitas about him. he is always striving to be better and looking inward in a form of self reflection that allows him to move on a better person.
Can you get Andrew Koji next?
I was fortunate enough to work on a majority of Season Two of Heels. Mainly as background and once as Production Assistant and a stand in. Crew was always professional, and the work they put in was evident. Sad that Heels didn’t come back for a season 3, but grateful for the experience!!
Keep on trucking, and take the wonderful experience along with the lessons learned and carry them forward!
Loved it! I thought he would talk about the Baywatch reboot! :(
One of my favorite Canadians, sorry for handing you boys the L Amell
Another great interview
I did not realise Heels got cancelled! Damn that was a great show with loads of potential!
This Video Is Great, TY, Michael.
I’m very glad he is back in the podcast
Always my fav guest. You guys have the best conversations.
I love Heels. I wish it could have more seasons.
I love when you have this guy on.
I actually enjoyed Suits LA and was sad when it got cancelled.
I think the problem was people were expecting the og suits. All my friends who watched it were like this isn’t like suits. they had an uphill battle tbh. Maybe if they called it something else it would’ve done better
He’s such amazing person.
One of the best guest’s on the podcast so glad Stephen is back. Another awesome episode 👏👏♥️
Looking forward to him leading the baywatch continuation
Arrow is my favorite show ever, before that was Smallville lol
3 years ago, my wife gave me an authentic and functional bow, like The Hood's bow on Season 1.
Arrow really made a difference in my life, thanks Stephen!
Would love to see Stephen do a reboot of the Wild, Wild, West. Michael, You could play Artemis Gordon, or direct.
Rosey, I still watch Impastors. It was so unique and hilarious. It's definitely a comfort show for me.
nice one Stephen....
lex lutho and th green arro, amazing
Brilliant episode, loved all the heart to heart discussions about work and life and I’m sure Stephen and Michael will be successful in anything they decide to do in the future😊
Michael, keep up the good work. Best youtube channel.
Love this podcast. Stephen was in two of the best series - Arrow and Heels.
He was actually pretty good in a wrestling ring.
Perks of being The Spectre.
Melo shirt is fire!
Stephen Amell seems like a really neat person who you could sit-down and have a conversation with
I am watching Smallville for the first time with my family! And You are AMAZING Michael!
