I’m from Luton. This place is a rite of passage for everyone in the local area. Thankyou for sharing. Planning to visit myself soon. Currently staying with my girlfriend in Essex and we visited “ANNE FREEMAN” the witches grave and tomorrow visiting “The Holy Cross Church In Basildon” supposedly haunted by “The Red Monk”.
That sounds really cool it’s great to find places and if they have a back story such as a witch you can really bring it to life. Thanks for watching enjoy the rest of your week.
I first went there in the late 80s when I was about 18, you could drive right up to it then. I remember there were a couple of cars there, with people sitting in them holding candles. It was a bit spooky then, but when I went back a few years ago it seemed a bit tame really.
In the late 90s, when I was a teenager, my friends and I went there. We thought we saw a ghost, so my friend threw a can of beer at it. The ghost burped.

The first time I visited was around Spring of 1990. It was back in the boy racer days, where we'd stand around chatting, next minute we'd be in the cars off to some random location we'd picked. There was 6 cars in total and 8 people, a couple of cars had passengers. When we got there we all drove up to the top of the hill, and managed to squeeze all the cars in. When my brother and my mate got out they said, when driving up the hill, they see a noose tied to a tree and two hooded people standing next to it. 'Yeah right' we all said and took the pee. We made our way into the church yard, and once in we found quite a few people in hoods, they were around our age, late teens early twenties. One approached a mate of mine, and said something. Dunno what he said but a few of my mates got spooked and started back to the cars. So the rest of us followed. Within a week my car and the other five either had slight accidents or their stereo's pinched. Which we all found very weird as it was only mine and my mates cars that had made that trip. The second visit was again around Spingtime in 1992. Me and a mate went up with a couple of girls. Once we'd parked and got out, walked in, I swore I saw something block the light that was shining through the bell tower opening. This time we all got spooked and left. A week later, I had an accident with a window, which severed my forearm and the tendons. So from this point I was like, I am never going up there again. Fast forward to 1995, was sitting in a pub with my mate and a couple of girls and one of them said about going. I said nope.....but one of them said maybe its because you didn't walk out backwards. I said I hadn't, as walking backwards wasn't really my thing 😂. I got my arm twisted and we went. Nothing happened whilst up there, and we walked out backwards, and nothing happened afterwards. Coincidence's, I'm not sure. I love anything to do with the Paranormal, more so now I'm older.
What I had always heard is you must say goodbye and you leave everything behind if you don’t it can come and be with you whatever that might be. It’s a fascinating place and I will return at some point 👍
