That's the way point-to-point wiring looks to people who have never cracked open electronics. It may not be as pretty as running board, but it's far more reliable.

I believe both are engaged. Headfier said they asked direct about this.
All tubes are engaged for all modes. Best preamp/headamp I’ve ever owned, probably the last as well 😊
