One of the three which is nine meters in height and carved from the rocks is located around 30 to 35km from Kargil and located off the Kargil-Leh highway. The Maitreya Buddha believed to be set up by the Namgyal dynasty is extremely significant for the Tibetan Buddhism. Pl do not forget to visit this prominent place on the way from Kargil to Leh during your next visit to Ladakh.
